Lands of Raikou no Kuni

[ | Mountains of the North :: Southern Forests :: Western Plains :: Eastern Plateaus | ]
Surrounding the village of Kumogakure and expanding out to the borders. The Lands of Raikou no Kuni are vast. Mostly covered in forests with a sprawling mountain range to the north of Kumogakure. Here is the home of creatures that go bump in the night and other strange oddities that call Raikou no Kuni home. Dotting across the land are smaller settlements, farmers and artisans mostly who don’t like the craziness of Kumogakure itself. Those are not the only people that call Raikou no Kuni home some clans, like the Kumouri, call the forests home.

  • Mountains of the North
    The Mountains nestled to the north of Kumogakure stretch as far wide as they do high. Amongst these mountains is the range known throughout Raikou no Kuni and the world as “The Thunder Moutains”. They can easily be distinguished from the rest, for the simple fact that they are by far the tallest mountains in the area. The highest peek, which the locals have named “Thunder Beast Ridge”, comes in at roughly 32,000 feet up.

  • Forests of the South
    The forests south of Kumogakure are known for their intriguing animals. Anything from thirty-foot long pythons to the wondering wolf pack and anything in-between can be seen here. Throughout the forest one would find a small handful of settlements, mainly along the rivers that twist and wind through the countryside. Some of the clans that are more in touch with nature live in this area. The infamous Chiroreptera Forest is located within the Southern Forests.

  • Plains of the West
    Just as the name suggests, these are the ever expansive plains that roll across the land. Though the name itself is a bit deceiving, as not all of this area is flat. In fact there are several rolling hills that occupy land here as well. It is rare for a clan to take up refugee here since they would be more vulnerable to attacks and the elements then if they were in the forests. A common sight on the plains are herds of animals running across it, makes the plains excellent places for hunters and predators alike.

  • Plateaus of the East
    These Plateaus are numerous with varying height and sizes, most if not all of them have, or had, a small wooded area atop them. Many of the lower ones are occupied by settlements as the people use the height for defensive purposes from wild animals. Many of the higher ones find themselves home to large birds of both the harmless and the down right vicious variety. There has even been reports of creatures ranging from the strange to the downright bizarre calling some of the highest Plateaus home.
