LKT Round 3: Atric Kazemaru vs Rairyuu Kousen

Weather: It's about 75 Degrees Farenheit, no rain, large dark clouds, frequent small breezes with occasional large gusts of wind. You may not change the weather in you're posts.

Time of Day: 5pm. The fight will not last longer than an hour.

Ring: Pontoon platforms. Floating pieces of wood in the middle of a small lake which are sturdy enough to fight on but arent so sturdy that they will not move from heavy impacts. Falling in the water doesn't disqualify you, it may just be a personal inconvenience. The fight zone is about 15x15 Yard square.

Just get to fighting. 10 posts each unless a clear victory is made before that.

"Cripes, I didn't come out here to play the frog on a lily pad, I'm here to make some dinero!" Always the one to make a grand entrance, Kousen now sat, cross legged and cross-armed, his lips pursed together in the very image of stubbornness. He just wanted to make some money and buy some dinner! And now, here he was, after taking down two guys, and still, not a single ryo to show for it!

And on top of that, there was every possibility that his newest opponent had been a secret observer within the first two fights. If that was the case, this would be infinitely harder, as Kousen had already revealed Nazo's Senbon Launcher and Flamethrower traps. Maybe he could get away with a couple more surprise attacks on this guy, and maybe the next, before he had to draw out of the tournament for a lack of tricks. Having only one puppet was a real bummer. Maybe with the cash he won, he could buy another?!

Now there was a concept, and with that cheerful thought, the young boy leapt to his feet, pulling a scroll from his pocket and readying himself. "Trust me pal, it'll be better for both of us, if you just drop out now!" Suddenly, that childish demeanor of his seemed to fade. Sure, he still wore his trademark smirk, but there was a dangerous note to it now. Granted, it was entirely a bluff, but perhaps the other boy wouldn't realize that!!!

Atric lifted an eyebrow as a smile crossed his face. Sorry bro, can't do that. Have something I got to do. but you on the other hand, If you drop out now, will be spared the embarrassment of defeat. he winked at his opponent. He hadn't bothered to watch Kousen's first two matches despite the fact that Atric had beaten his first two opponents in one of the fastest times in the tournament thus far; he was far to busy trying to get his mack on with some nearby women (His time off training as a hermit had him lacking in the women department for quite a while). Truth be told, he had no idea on what his opponent's fighting style, nor did he really care.

He reached down to His Chakram Holders at his sides and picked up a chakram with both of his index fingers, making sure that the Razor wire was still attached to it. He begun to spin them at his sides before he threw them slightly in the air and catching them with their respective hands. "Don't disappoint me." despite the fact that Atric had decided to not tuse any of his new skills, that didn't mean he was going to easy on this one. he had to keep fighting till he could find a good person to test those skills on.

Atric Quickly spun around, flinging the chakrams at Kousen. One was curving from the right, aimed at his legs; while the other curved from the left,aiming for the Kousen's head.

Well... Crappity crap. Apparently bluffing was not Kousen's strong suite. Hmm, perhaps a better intimidation factor could be found if he drew a knife? Nah, this fella had countered with his own threat. Apparently two boys arguing over who should give up first didn't suit the other's fancy either. A... ring? What sort of ninja threw a friggin' circle at people?!

"Yea, yeah, whatever. You're boring!" As he spoke, Kousen drew two projectiles of his own, intercepting both chakram well before they ever reached their intended target. "BOO-OORING!" His right hand plucked the scroll from his pocket, his left activating chakra strings. The scroll unraveled, and out of it poofed a man. Yes, a man. Wearing a long cloak, with shaggy hair covering his face.

"Get 'im Nazo!" As he spoke, his chakra strings, invisible to the untrained eye, nudged and prodded the creation to life, sending it flying toward the enemy, a thick mist flowing out of the cloak around the right sleeve and the neck. Let's see him fight with that sword of his blind!!! As it moved in for the first attack, Kousen dropped the useless scroll, making a note to pick it up after the fight. The puppet's head snapped up, revealing a face with zero features, the first major indication that this person wasn't human, unless the enemy had been following Kousen's fingers. As the smoke started to flow, the left arm snapped up, releasing two senbon at his opponent's center of mass.

The ring was small, that was a definite advantage for Kousen. Less room for his opponent to outmaneuver Nazo. The wind and cloud cover shouldn't affect him too much, and the rocking of the platform under his feet wouldn't post any threat, unless he had to resort to close range combat...

The five explosive tags he had tagged to the chakrams detonated as they landed in the water. What had knocked them out of the air had flown to fast for him to see them; He was going to keep his eyes out of other such projectiles further on. The other ninja pulled out a scroll and out came a figure of a man but it lacked the aura of a man. Was it a demon? but when it shot senbon out its left arm, Atric knew that it was a puppet. This person was a puppeteer, which also accounted for the dexterity with his finger when he threw out those throwing weapons.

Now the puppet was flying towards him. Atric was heavily tempted to just impale it with a lighting bolt or just quick-slash one of it's limbs off, but he had already decided to keep his new trained abilities under wraps. So instead, he lifted Kami no Te shield to block the on coming senbon. He began concentrating chakra into his legs and arms and reached back with both hands to pick up his spiked Metal dusters in his back pouch. It would be to dangerous to use a sword in this situation, with or without the smoke. the smoke wasn't going to bother him, fighting without heavily reliance on sight was taught to him when he was learning San Stuansu Fukkaku, but it would become a pain after a while but he would do what he had to do.


Atric Launched forward at high speeds and performed "Impaling Strike" and was going to follow through with "Tiger's Fang", he also made sure to maintain a concentration of chakra in his feet in case of an emergency.

Game, set, and match. The other kid might not know it yet, but this battle had reached its conclusion the minute he decided to charge through the fog, rather than avoid it. That mist wasn't just a smoke cover. Poison. Funny how often that worked on folks. You'd think after a while they'd learn... Granted, Kousen still needed to stay alive until his enemy succumbed to its paralytic effects, and that wasn't shaping up to be a very easy task.

His opponent chose to attack the puppet, rather than the puppeteer, a decision few could make and get away with. Generally, a puppet was more durable than its master, meaning while you were busy trying to destroy it, the master was using its traps to tear you a new one. The speed advantage was very clearly in Atric's hands, but Kousen still had a trick or two up his sleeve. As the other boy rushed into attack, running across the platform and causing it to rock back and forth, Kousen's left hand danced in the air, pulling Nazo up and back, trying to avoid those rather intimidating hands. The puppet went airborne, but, the opponent was incredibly fast. No way could Kousen maneuver the creation out of the way. So, instead, he simply attacked again. As the opponent's hands struck the fire hardened wood, chipping off bits and pieces, the faceless head of Nazo opened up, revealing a blast of fire from a mixture of oxygen, acetyline and gasoline. It sprayed out and was ignited as it left the head, sending a four meter burst of liquid fire at the enemy, who was currently running straight into it due to his charge.

Sure, he was pulling out all the stops for this one battle, but with a quick opponent like this, he wouldn't be getting any second chances. Not to mention, he could always afford to restock his poison and equipment supplies with the money he would win from this tournament. "Yer quick bud, but this fight's mine!"

Description: Nazo is a puppet designed for maximum combat potential, without any of the frills or distractions of beauty. As a humanoid puppet, with only two arms and two legs, Nazo's major defining feature is a total lack of facial features. No eyes, no ears, no mouth, no nose. Merely a blank slate, with muffled bumps, ridges, and depressions where those features might be. Shaggy black horse hair mops the top of his head, with lengths long enough to often obscure the missing facial features. With a brown cloak and long pants, one would be hard-pressed to identify this as a puppet, until you saw it's lack of a face that is. As for size, Nazo is slightly taller and more gangly than the average human, with a slightly elongated torso for storage and mechanical functions. Forged from an ancient tree from Raikou no Kuni, fire hardened, and painted a flesh tone, Nazo is slightly lighter than most other puppets, though physical damage output suffers because of this.

Weapons:

[Senbon Launcher / Left Forearm/Palm] Sealed into the left forearm is an enormous storage supply of senbon. Within the arm itself is a compressed air launching mechanism, with a shutter on the palm that opens to give the senbon an exact as pressure builds in the forearm. An intelligent opponent might think to block this shutter closed, which could cause tremendous damage to this arm of the puppet, should it backfire.
[Poison Gas/Smoke/Incendiary Launcher / Left Shoulder] A similar compressed air function operates in the area of the left bicep, tricep, and shoulder. This device however, can be loaded with three different forms of ammunition, all from storage seals within the arm. 1 is a poison gas, discussed below, 2 being a normal smoke bomb, and 3 being a bomb tag held within a sphere of plastic. When the plastic case ruptures on contact with something, the bomb tag detonates immediately.
[Flame Thrower / Skull] Stored in the throat and the upper part of the torso of Nazo is a supply of acetylene, oxygen, and gasoline. The skull opens up where the face would be, and the formula is released in a spray that reaches a maximum distance of 4 meters. There is an ignition switch in Nazo's mouth, used to ignite the formula as it is sprayed, to create a rather potent stream of fire. The tank can only hold enough fuel for five posts worth of use. (Five shots basically)
[Smoke Vents / Right Tricep] Three small vents can be found on the right upper arm, used to release either poison gas or normal smoke. This is helpful to obscure Nazo's movements to an opponent, and can rob them of their sense of vision while Kousen fights from outside the smoke.

Story: There are all sorts of fun herbs, plants, eatables and edibles in this world, specifically among the flora and fauna of Raikou no Kuni, the lands surrounding the village of Kumogakure. As a shinobi of Kumo, Kousen spent much of his time in and around the village, which is where he stumbled upon these various herbs nearly by accident. After a brief snack by a river, Kousen soon found himself unable to move. Obviously, his woodcraft wasn't the best... After an hour or so of frantic worrying, and considering his possibilities of death, when the poison wore off, Kousen gratefully returned to his meal, gathering up the herbs and whipping them into a concoction of victory. The poison is slow acting in combat situations, but once it's taken its hold, victory is assured. This poison is administered most commonly in liquid form, coated along the weapons Kousen uses and the puppets he fights with, but it can also, through a very difficult process that requires much machinery, be converted into a gaseous, smoke form. He doesn't like using the gas cannisters as much, because they're so difficult to reproduce.

Poison: [Turn 01: Nothing]


As his fist crashed into the puppets body with a satisfying crunch, Atric noticed its jaw opened wide revealing a tube. "Oh dear." Hes hand was back ready to fire off the Tiger strike technique but Atric kept his hands back and performed "Side-step" appearing on the puppets left side, just as the fire began to shoot out, roasting the place he had just been standing. the annoying fog was coming from the things other shoulder and it had a strange feeling to it. It seemed familair.

Just as he appeared, Atric flexed his right hand causing the small crossbow mechanism to pop out as he latched the small explosive tag he had planned to plant with the last hit of "Tigers Fang" onto the small arrow. He immediately overextended his fingers causing the small, half-sized arrow to launch full speed at the puppet's abdomen. he then turned and began speeding towards his real opponent, the puppet's master. He speed up his travel there using controlled bursts of "Pounce".

As he he was dashing, he realized why the smoke had felt familiar. His body detected a foreign substance in his body. It was poison gas. what a drag, he thought sighing to himself. Not again.

The twisting of the opponent's torso and the stepping motion allow the user to get behind the target easily, although aiming the chakra wave can be difficult.

Description: The user expends a burst of chakra, aimed away from a cluster of opponents. Action/reaction laws apply, and launch the user towards the enemies. By bouncing a low-level burst of chakra off of an enemy's chakra core, the user is able to halt themselves instantly in the middle of a group. When executed properly, this is an effective surprise technique, and excellent with traps. Higher ranked ninja can ambush from up to ten meters/yards away. The effect is basically an instant dissappearance with an immediate re-appearance in the middle of a group of enemies.

Speed. Every battle relied on two things. Surprise and Speed. A strong opponent is easily beaten when those two elements are on one person's side. But in this case, they weren't. The element of surprise had nothing to do with this fight, considering both had a reasonable understanding of the other's skills, and both knew their opponent's location. So it all came down to speed. Which was faster, Atric, or Kousen's fingers?

As the short burst of flame subsided, Kousen's index and pinky both jumped, as his wrist twisted. The result was that as Atric moved to the side, Nazo fled in the opposing direction in a return to Kousen. While Atric may have intended it to be a counter to the puppet, Kousen interpreted the action as an attempt to separate Kousen from his combat tool and attack him head on. When in doubt, it was better to keep the puppet close, to use as a defense, as well as offense. And now that the poison was in his victim's system, he cut that as well, closing the vents that were releasing the smoke.

In all the motion, he failed to see the tiny tear on Nazo's cloak, where a miniscule arrow had sped past the retreating puppet,slicing through the fabric, but missing the mechanisms of the puppet. His opponent was again on the attack, rushing toward him with a surprising speed... No matter. Speed like that could easily backfire. Greater speed meant less control over his own momentum... Nazo fired a new projectile, not a senbon, but instead a small plastic sphere, aimed directly at Atric's torso.

Meanwhile, Kousen drew a senbon, bound tight by a bomb tag, and dropped it to the ground behind his leg, before sliding his foot back over it. Using a chakra string, rather than his fat hand would make it less noticeable in the commotion of the fight, especially Should his opponent manage to make it past Nazo's counter-offensive, Kousen would have a surprise waiting for him... The second prong to this short term tactic, was that Kousen used a second string from his right hand to tug free a kunai, also with bomb tag fluttering on the wind behind it. He would guide it to his opponent's new location should he evade Nazo's incendiary...

He sighed, This guy was a pain, but he head earned at least a little respect from Atric. Unlike all the other people he had fought until now, He didn't rely on intricate things to fight. He used the simple things he had and made them work in complex ways of his choosing.

Another situation that could be solved with his new techniques, but even now was not the time to use them. He would probably still not use them even if it meant he was going to lose this fight. He had bigger fish to fry, and the longer he kept those moves under wraps, the better.

Atric observed the incoming ball and the kunai. the kunai has a tag attached to, so it was obvious on what it was planning on doing. the ball on the other hand had no way of telling what it did. But Atric wasn't going to take chances with it; for all he knew it could be a restraining device, a bomb, more poison, or anything else along those lines. Knowing that jumping to the sides or up would be useless due to the tag, and turnign around was near impossible, he went the one place he could, Down.

As soon as he on the platform two away from Kousen, he kicked his foot back back, sending him into an almost face-plant position, he quickly brought his hands over his head and dived straight into the water seconds before the kunai and the Ball reached where he was. he used the momentum of his dive to shoot straight underneath the plateform in front of him. Quickly using his other arrow launcher, he sent an arrow with an explosive tag harpooning into the bottom of the Platform that his opponant was on when he saw him last. as soon as the arrow would hit the platform it would explode. he was officially out of arrows, and the pressure from using one underwater, caused it to break. Sai was probably going to murder him for this.

OOC: I know I'm way late, my bad. I was gonna write this last night,but my internet gave out...

BIC: If there was one thing Kousen knew about being sneaky, it was that when you were out of your enemies field of vision, it was time to strike. And thus, being sneak-savvy, the young man immediately began a counter as his opponent hit the surface of the water. First, an evasion, to avoid whatever inevitable counterattack would be coming as the man went under. First bet was some sort of disky-type thing. He was half expecting it to come soaring out of the water at him, so to evade, he went even higher. First, jump. Second, jump again. How does one jump again from mid-air? By using his puppet as a springboard, of course!

As the puppet was sent propelled, away, it became useless for an immediate counter, so the young man, using his not-so-ever-present quick wits, attached a string to the kunai and plastic sphere. The sphere redirected into the water, right where Atric had disappeared a moment before. On contact, sphere ruptured, releasing an explosive equivalent to a bomb tag across the surface of the water, not good for much, aside from perhaps startling the other boy, which was the result of the tag attached to the arrow.

"Tch, predictable..." The kunai he had launched swung around, guided by his string, and aiming for his best guess of where the underwater-man's momentum had carried his submerged form, was sent propelling beneath the surface, hopefully to skewer the other shinobi before exploding. As Kousen landed on another of the platforms, glancing down, he spotted a droplet of crimson on his leg, alongside a tear along his pants-leg. Shrapnel from the exploded platform. To his right, his original attack, the poison smokescreen was almost fully dissipated, having hung in the air for a while. He could evade there if he had to, but if he did so immediately, he might accidentally poison himself... His puppet had been separated from him, pushed out of the way by his jump, past the ten meter mark where his strings ended. So for now, it was just him, his wits, and whatever weapons he could scrounge from his tool pouch...
