Sōjōbō noticed instantly that the beach arena had crunchy sand that aggressively worked to enter his bamboo Daikaku styled sandals. With a brisk stride, the sand wiggled its way between his toes and easily worked to suck his sandals of his feet and into the sand below. Sōjōbō blinked shocked by the sheer pull of the sand. But Sōjōbō did continue. He stood barefooted and facing his enemy keeping in mind that the sand would slow down his movements. However, he had a plan.

Sōjōbō used his tooth to draw blood and struck the ground summoning a giant scroll – which resembled Sōjōbō in both height and width.

With a stroke of his fingers, the scroll unraveled sending a wave of paper in an arc fashion at his opponent. The scrolls paper aiming twelve degrees behind his opponent before suddenly stopping. Thus, placing his opponent directly in the crosshairs of his attack.

Sōjōbō had preformed “Summon: Magical Straw Cloak,” which summoned a large scroll storage unit of kunai and Sōjōbō was now poised to attack with. In the blink of an eye, Sōjōbō relayed the command to attack. Fifty kunai sprouted systematically from the scrolls paper with impaling force and a streak of white smoke trailing. Each kunai moved with a speed that Sōjōbō did not even attempt to track.

Description: After forming a string of hand seals, Sōjōbō strikes the ground summoning a giant scroll.. At the command of Sōjōbō, the scroll unravels into a banner that is neatly crafted with a fifty weapon slots marked kunai. With the injection of chakra into the scroll, kunai will fire out so fast that they appear as white streaks impaling anything in their path. The scroll holds a thousand kunai that can be used to skewer enemies. The kunai are not guided, so, they randomly project out covering the field in kunai.

Re: LKT Round 3: Sōjōbō vs Seisen Souhei

Souhei pressed his lips together, none too pleased about the rushed demeanor of the other. The summoner seemed to think that simply because they were in a tournament, there was no need for decency. His feet, already touching sand, pushed, meeting little resistance for the first moment or two, until they had compacted enough of the gritty mass to provide a springboard, launching him up and over the erect scrollwork just as it completed its extension. His hands raced through the four seals required, beginning his own signature technique. The arcing pattern it had used told him the attack was more likely directed inward than outward, meaning so long as he stayed on the cloth's back side, he would be relatively unharmed.

Beginning his own counter attack, Souhei had but one option, to outmaneuver his opponent. Which meant he would need to stay where the sand was drier, and less likely to engulf his feet. Rushing alongside the scrollwork, it took only a minute for Souhei to regain visual contact on his opponent.

"Souhei, of the Seisen martial artists. May Hachiman bless this battle." Sure he'd had the oppurtunity to begin a counter attack, but that would have been rude. Even one's enemy's deserved a certain level of respect.

Spoiler:
The arc that you described sort of confused me, so if there's a problem with my battlefield mechanics throughout this fight, feel free to let me know, mmkay?

Description: This jutsu is the bloodline genetic gift of all Seisen, believed to be given to them by the deity Hachiman. To activate this jutsu, Souhei must perform four quick handseals, both beginning and ending with the Tori, or Bird sign, as a tribute to Hachiman, whose messenger is the dove. With his handsigns over, nothing will have changed, until Souhei comes into contact with someone. When a punch or kick, knee, kunai slash, sword stroke, any form of contact takes place that was initiated by Souhei, a bright green pulse of light will flash at the point of contact. This contact can include Souhei's blocking an opponent's strike, any touch between himself and the opponent that he had some say in. This green pulse is a transfer of chakra, from the victim, into Souhei. At his current level (C Rank), Souhei absorbs five percent of his victim's chakra with each contact. Sesshoku can take place through an intermediary as well, such as a sword or a kunai, though it must maintain contact between both Souhei and his opponent. Usually this absorbed chakra fades with time, but should Souhei ever kill an opponent (It must be a player's character), he can use Sesshoku to drain 20 percent of the dead man's chakra and integrate it into his own system permanently. Should Souhei maintain contact such as through a grapple, it drain's 5% every post that contact is kept.

Although the opponent’s movements were drenched in mystery, Sōjōbō clearly didn’t spot the man’s jump - or he would have simply tilted his giant scroll to compensate (a move that wouldn’t have taken long to put in place.) But as Sōjōbō looked through his red tengu mask, he spotted his opponent spitting out his heritage. There were two things that Souhei had learned from the entire chest bumping, fist flinging boasting. First, he learned Souhei was a martial artist, which meant he’d most likely be a close quartered opponent. Second, he had learned Souhei hailed from the Seisen clan – a fact that was meaningless for Sōjōbō had never heard of them before. So, he really only learned one thing of use that he could use.

Stay out of the reach or be prepared for a physical fight - one that Sōjōbō might have a disadvantage with.

Still holding onto the giant scroll, Sōjōbō jumped back high into the air with his black cloak hiding his wavering behind him. He pulled the scroll into the air with him like a plane pulling a banner and twisted the scroll in hand. The paper trail spun so that the side where the kunai would unseal pointed down and again this put Souhei in firing range. In a similar function as Tenten’s Manipulated Tools: Heavenly Chain of Destruction technique, Sōjōbō unsealed the scroll a second time causing fifty kunai to rain down on the field below him.

  • Attack – with redirected scroll, unsealed 50 kunai at target

A coward, eh? The enemy was retreating, attempting to keep his distance, rather than meet in open confrontation. Fine. Grimacing, Souhei noted the twisting motion as it ran down the length of the scroll like a whip cracking. As it lifted into the air, Souhei leapt to his right, his opponent's left, closer to the sea short. The scroll released dozens of projectiles with each use, but they were not aimed all directly forward. Their danger was in the fact that they went everywhere. They weren't directed to a specific location, which meant just being out from directly under the scroll meant nothing.

Twisting as the projectiles unsealed, eyes trained for high speed motion picked out the five or so that were headed in his general location. Two kunai from the pouch at his hip, spinning them about like the propellers of a fan, he easily batted away the majority of the strikes. That last one was a bit close for comfort however, skimming past his torso with not even a hair's breadth between them, leaving a tear in his shirt, and a thin stripe of red that would recede in later days.

Flicking the two kunai airborne, at a height above his opponent, it was only then revealed that around the handle of each were wrapped thin slips of paper with the kanji for a bomb tag inscribed on them. No dodging in midair, the enemy was toast. He aimed high for two reasons. One, his opponent was likely to have some trick up his sleeve to evade, and if he evaded further up, it would only lead to his being impaled. The second, Souhei was not out to take a life today. Instead, he detonated the tags, intending to send his opponent, forcefully, back down to earth, where the fight could begin in earnest.

Already in a downward descend due to gravity; Sōjōbō did not have much room for evasion as jumping into the air always had its downsides. His opponent was skilled in blocking his long distance attacks, so as he braced himself from the explosion overhead deciding not to press another attack to throw his opponent off. The fact that his opponent was not aiming for him directly and the white note attached to the kunai gave him the idea that an explosive note was surely in play. So, as he let lose of his scroll and protected head, the banner contracted back into the scroll and the pressure of the explosion knocked Sōjōbō out of the sky and onto the wet sandy beaches.

The damage was minimal – no broken bones, a few burns on his wrists, but nothing seriously debilitating. The added damage from the previous two fights seemed to burn though as the wet sand abrasively rubbed against those cuts. On his shoulder was a thin cut received in his first battle and on back there was a bruise from hitting a tree in the second battle. Therefore, with Sōjōbō now sitting in the wet sand with his scroll landing in a reaching distance, Sōjōbō let out laugh. It was a light laugh to brush off the predicament he was in now.

He stood up latching onto the scroll and uncorked a small gourd hanging at his waist.

“Your explosives hurt.” Were the words he said and wrote after dipping his finger into the gourd filled with ink. “May the dragon consume your ninja tricks.”

With the last word written, he corked the gourd and took a move aggressive hold onto the giant scroll. He held it similar to a caber he was about to toss and did so. He threw the scroll at Souhei and drew his now freed hands to form hand seals. The scroll meanwhile grew charcoal black as an ink serpent crawled about the scrolls paper. Sōjōbō had preformed the Unseal: Word Worm technique, which created a monster crafted from words to attack his opponent. Well, you couldn’t really say it attacked the opponent – more like attacked any written material on the opponent. The Word Worm is a pesky creature that is used to distract Souhei.

So, as the scroll neared its target, the black serpent a yard in length leaped out and attacked Souhei. Its speedy attack aimed at devouring any fuuinjutsu hidden on Souhei’s person and grabbing Souhei’s attention. Therefore, leaving Sōjōbō to continue setting up a potent attack.

  • Defend – Take minor damage
  • Attack /Disarm – Threw Scroll spiked with Unseal: Word Worm

Spoiler:
Name: Unseal: Word Worm
Rank: D
Range: Close (0-5 meters)
Jutsu Type: Supplemental
Elemental Affinity: -
Clan: -
Description: Sōjōbō dips his finger into a gourd of ink and on a paper/surface writes a sentence stemmed in randomness. The words string together and a creature snakes off the page. The creature has been simply named by Sōjōbō, Word Worm. The Word Worms are eight inch in length creatures composed entirely of ink letters that resemble a snake. It is incapable of damaging people – as it has no bite, despite its make shift fanged jaws. However, it possesses the raw ability to eat written words and ink and in an essence destroy written fuuinjutsu. Thus, the Word Worm has developed an un-quenchable appetite for scrolls. Word Worms greedily devour words and steadily grow in size because of it. Furthermore, Word Worms are quick to spring at juicy words. Since the Word Worm is merely a string of letters, when it is cut with a sword it merely multiplies. Elemental attacks may destroy this creature. Four protective wards eaten by the word worm will cause it to crumble into nothing and destroy it.

Souhei allowed himself only a moment to smirk, relishing in the small victory his explosives had gained him, before beginning the next move of the battle. The knight's run. A fast, agile, frontal assault, meant to close the distance. It was a useful tactic in shogi, so why not in a real combat situation. Souhei rushed forward as his opponent picked himself from the ground. Ink? Whatever technique his opponent was about to use, Souhei had no interest in allowing him the time to do so. Leaping forward onto his hands, Souhei sprang forward, using the handspring to pluck two kunai from the ground. One he tossed like an arrow, past the serpent toward his opponent, in an attempt to keep him from pressing his attack, while the other he clutched in a reverse grip, slicing through the word worm, as easily as a knife might pass through ink. Twisting to his left as he swung the kunai in his right arm, his left leg pushed off, spinning him around before he drove his right leg against the first half of the inky mass, intending to drive it away from his person with sheer force. Unfortunately, the second half still struck him, a curious sensation, as there seemed to be no immediate pain.

Perhaps it was some sort of trap? A mobile bomb tag of some sort? As it crawled toward the pocket containing his bomb tags, Souhei attempted to grab the wordy mass and fling it away from himself...

How can one physically hold onto a string of words? That question was surely answered by Souhei as it proved to be impossible. The only thing his fingers felt was ink and even that ink slipped through his fingers cutting the snake into. The Word worm was now split into four: a long stringed one from when he cut the worm right down the middle, two small worms that appeared when he forcefully tried to drive it away, and the last one where he tried to garb the worms. So, two of the smaller continued to crawl up Souhei's body and feast on the explosive notes, while the other two snapped at him provocatively drawing his fire.

Meanwhile, Sōjōbō had an issue on his hands thrown by Souhei. Souhei’s kunai struck Sōjōbō in the arm as Sōjōbō shuffled his feet to dodge – a feat that proved difficult when the sand clumped onto your feet. But despite the cold pain that struck Sōjōbō’s arm, he continued a string of summoning jutsu that were collectively aimed at Souhei.

With blood dripping down his arm, Sōjōbō struck the ground twice.

The first time was to perform Summon: Order of Subjection. Out of the ground five chains sprouted aiming to shackle Souhei’s wrists, feet, and neck and drag him back to earth. They were cold, iron so breaking them would require either lots of strength or a powerful blades man. Sōjōbō doubted Souhei possessed either so he quickly struck the ground again moving into the next phase of his plan. To corner his opponent and limit the movement of his opponent, Souhei preformed Summon: Wire-Razor Prison. The technique was designed to spring up four razor wire gates that would clamp down on his opponent holding him in place for his next attack. So, four razor wire gates sprang up and clamped down with a force sure enough to leave gashes on what ever it crossed.

First, five iron chains spring from the ground and shackle the enemies wrists, ankles, and neck. The chains are designed to hold the enemy in place and subjugate the enemy long enough for Sōjōbō to follow up with an attack or question.

Unfortunately, the wire fence can be described as flimsy - meaning that it isn't unbreakable and can be broken with marginal strength.

Re: LKT Round 3: Sōjōbō vs Seisen Souhei

Souhei's brow furrowed in confusion. These creatures weren't harming him, but they certainly couldn't be good. There was one last solution however, one prompted by the chains bursting free of the soil beneath his feet. Chakra to his feet, and a jump that defied even the treacherous sand that threatened to suck him below, Souhei went high, escaping from the top of the pyramid at the four walls rose to engulf him. He was moving at top speed, but still, it was not enough, as the tip of one of the walls sliced a fresh wound, a fact that was none-too-appealing as Souhei landed in the salt water of the ocean. The water might dilute the ink, but it was certainly painful on the fresh wounds of this and the previous two battles.

Running out across the surface of the water until he was positive that it would be deep enough to completely cover everything the worms had reached, he released the chakra flow to his feet, sinking like a lead stone up to his torso. By this time, they had probably devoured every one of his bomb tags, not that he knew it, but if they were still there when he arose a few moments later, it was going to be quite annoying.

Speed. THat was the lesson of this battle. When facing an opponent who fought at a distance, it was imperative to close the gap as quickly as possible, before becoming enmeshed in their jutsu. It was one of those lessons learned by experience, and the salt-water in his cut would ensure he wouldn't be forgetting this lesson any time soon...

This man is a slippery devil, Sōjōbō thought watching as Souhei literally out ran his chains and barely escaped the razor walls he’d constructed. A frown had indeed surfaced beneath his mask as he watched he empty razor walls and chains sink back into the ground below. Regrettable, the maneuver looked like a gross misuse of chakra… Or did it? Perhaps as Souhei soaked a large portion of his body underneath the salty water, he could use Souhei’s new position to attack him more effectively. Sōjōbō aggressively formed additional hand seals and struck the sand once more

He summoned chains again - this time using the water to perhaps hide the chains long enough to bind Souhei’s feet first. Then the chains aiming for Souhei’s wrists and neck would have a better chance. So, under the murky salty water, Sōjōbō summoned chains to shackle his opponent in place.

With a deep breath, Sōjōbō pushed on feeling the effects of his summoning starting to take its toll on his body. He felt the first aches in the body that came with using chakra. So, it was now time for him to conserve. He reached for the kunai that was still in his arm with his bloody hands using his long red talons to pull out the kunai. He released a muffled grunt and flex his fingers to make sure he could still use that hand. He would use that very kunai in a moment’s notice if he was pushed.

A short battle? Certainly. But the best battles were often the shortest. Souhei, so caught up in his concern for the inky mass that was now dissolving in the seawater, had no way of preparing him for the next attack of chains, not even a way of foreseeing the attack, aside from the rough prediction that his opponent wouldn't waste the oppurtunity to mount another offense. So, by the time the first chain grazed Souhei's leg, it was too late. With the water weighing him down, the chains already so close to seizing him, there was no oppurtunity for evasion. His legs, though operating even beyond their normal peak due to a massive influx of chakra, were still not strong enough to break free of the iron serpents that entangled him.

As their heavy weight bore him down into the sand beneath the ocean's floor, his arms, legs, and torso immobilized, he made not a sound. His opponent had gained the victory. And had done so fairly. Testing his limits with the chains, he knew given enough time, he could possibly work them off of his body, but in a true to life combat situation, he would never be given the time required for such a feat.

The shame from this, the most recent of his losses, hung heavily on his head. Where was his strength? Granted, he'd been at a disadvantage, fighting an opponent who specialized in ranged attacks, and had he ever gotten his hands on the enemy, this fight might have turned out entirely differently, but, he hadn't. And that was all that mattered. He'd lost, yet again... Unbearable, this shame.

"I surrender. You fought well."

OOC: Congrats on the win, your tactics were good Ama!

Since Sōjōbō was not versed in walking on water, he could not completely confront his opponent and help him directly out of the water. So, he simply released the shackles that pinned his opponent in place after forming a hand seal.

With a shift of his red tengu mask, he revealed the sharp features that constructed his face. He possessed red eyes that shone bright, clear pale skin tanned by moonlight, and a mane of olive hair. A smile lit his face as he moved to greet his defeated opponent. An opponent who despite the quick take down did have potential.

"Good match. I am Sōjōbō the Taloned Dog. " Sōjōbō said clapping his hands with a slight bow. "By the compassion of the Triple Gem and the Ocean of Conquerors, may you live a long life "

Almost as if the sky and earth opened up to the world, a crack of lightning and a shifting of the sand brought a new figure into existance. He was dressed in all black robes, what you would imagine of a traditional ninja, yet he had trims of bright blue, like the lightning he had rode in on. Aside from that, he bore the crest of the Lin Kuei, signaling that he was one of the Tournament hosts, and that he was here on business. As he stood up to his full height, he 1st faced Sojobo and bowed, then adressed both of them.

"Congratulations on your match. The results have been recorded. Both of you follow me."

The words of congratulations seemed to be directed towards Sojobo, however they were directed to both of them, for surviving. This tournament was rough and though killing ones opponent was not neccesary, it also wasn't forbidden, and a few combatants had already died this day. With a smile of the eyes, the ninja turned and began walking, biding this matches combatants to follow him.

As the chains around his body loosened, Souhei could feel his buoyant body slipping up through the water, until at last his feet had returned to the surface. Drenching wet, with a nigh-unbearable pain in the salt-caked wound on his calf, he stepped from the water back to terra firma, greeting the victor with a bow. As he was about to respond, the clear sky opened up, a crack of lightning shattering the peaceful setting of the ocean in lieu of their battle. A man stood in its after glow, obviously speaking volumes about his power to have moved so suddenly in such an instant.

He spoke, demanding their obedience, and as a host of this tournament, Souhei felt abliged to follow him. Granted, there was still the shame of his loss to own up to. Perhaps that was what this was about. Some sort of punishment for his failure? Unlikely. In tournaments such as these, the winners were rewarded, but rarely were the losers out anything, aside from maybe the time it would take to recuperate.

Speaking over his shoulder at Sojobo, Souhei felt abliged to again congratulate the man who had beaten him so handily. "You're jutsu are quite impessive, I must say, I didn't stand a chance at my current level."

After placing his hand firmly on the wound on his arm, Sōjōbō followed disliking the nature of the man he was to follow. The man was to flashy in his entrance for Sōjōbō's taste. As long as the man took him to where he could get medicine and treatment, he would be fully content.
