Where's the Soul in That Fist?! [ Open ]

[ \Sakura Hiroba | Kamiza | Yomi/ ]
The capital city of Raikou no Kuni, nestled between mountain peaks in the center of the country. Its altitude and location lead to common snowfall, though it is not necessarily cold throughout the year, clear days often leading to be as warm as summer. At the southern end of this star-shaped city lies a great stone bridge spanning a large lake, connecting to the road back down to the rest of the world. The home of both the Daimyo and Kamiza, the Onigami Compounds.

"UUUUUUrrrryyyyaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

The voice belonged to none other than Kazekano Dono, resident class heart throb. For some reason no matter what the hulk of a man-child did girls would swoon in every direction. There was little to be done that could outshine his popularity thus the reason for his long standing stint of popularity at East Ridge High. That's right high school. The place where all those kids who weren't talented in making magical items pop out of nothing went to figure out what they would do with the rest of their life.

Although, there were a few persons that dabbled in a little bit of both. Lee Mu Bai was just that type even if he ended up attending the former much more frequently than the latter. Odds were that the next great empire shinobi would not be him. This would be the part where an argument could be raised for the massive amounts of other jobs that could be undertaken by someone without talent. IF there was anything else of significance left to do. He had no real family. His potential as a shinobi was just as great as a rock. The only thing going for Lee were his fists.

"UUUUUUrrrryyyyaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

The hulk child had broken another boulder asunder with his muscle bound fists, causing another wave of swooning high school girls that threatened to overwhelm the other role playing boys on the sideline. Kazekano lifted his finger triumphantly towards the sky to announce his greatness to the heavens themselves. The man was nothing less of irksome but he knew what he was going to be. He knew what direction the wind would eventually take him and that was ultimately what bothered his watched the most.

Ding. "Lunch Break is Now Over"

Lee Mu Bai stood while adjusting the black knit cap across the back of his golden hair. Atop a hill that overlooked the usual luncheon area for students the young man leisurely sifted through his pockets before bringing out a silver chain watch. Just about an hour past noon. He could head to history class or switch it up for the ninja academy. Then there was always the option of heading into work early. There was training too. Why were there so many options yet he felt no particular tug in any direction?

"What do I do?" His fist struck his palm out of frustration only to be interrupted by a large boom.

An explosion had just shaken the foundation of the school.
The screams of people could be heard but the reason lay underneath a cloud of dust and debris.

"UUUUUUrrrryyyyaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Another mundane day...

The screams of awe from the high school girls reverberated into the empty classroom through the open window. "That muscle bound oaf is at it again..." Kazekano Dono. Yozora peers out the window to see the boy shine his million watt smile towards the many fangirls that collected around him. He asked her out a couple of times. Of course she said no. Apparently she is very popular with many boys at East Ridge High, and the scorn of many females. For her age, she is very well endowed and it has not gone unnoticed by the male populace. She would never even think about dating, for three reasons. One. She's not proportional. Two. They are all dumb. Three. She has a mission to do.

Yozora sighed, as she finished her report for the office, explaining again that there was no activity in her post. She wondered what ever crossed her mind to accept this position, why being undercover at a civilian high school was something she would ever be interested in. Maybe it was because it was better than a desk job? Perhaps they trusted her with such responsibility? Maybe someone hated her and she is being disiplined by a form of cruel and unusal punishment.

"UUUUUUrrrryyyyaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Leaning back in her desk, she sighs again. "Such an annoyance..." And yet, she was kind of jealous. To just worry about going to school, maybe getting a job, or helping out with the family business or having a boyfriend sounds awesome right now. Civilians have it so easy...

Shaking her head fervently, Yozora frowns. She couldn't see herself as anything but a ninja. It was her duty to help people and protect those who are weak. That is why she joined the police force and that is why she is here observing the general populace of her civilian peers.

Remembering the first day she was sent here, she was told that, underneath this ordinary high school, is a secret operation led by the Raikage himself. She will not know where the exact location is, nor will she know what the operation entails, only that she must protect it. Rumor has it, that the item they are working on is some kind of chakra nullifying agent...

Yozora sighs. Nothing has happened in this place for twenty years, especially, in the last eleven months she's been here. Surely, nothing will happen...but...

She feels a large field of chakra forming nearby...

What the...?

BOOOOOOooooMMMMMMMMMMMmmmm!

Papers, desks, books flying in the air. Glass shattering. People screaming. Pandamonium.

Sure nothing happened. Until now.

There it was. That feeling many just accustomed to his ADHD that only showed itself when things got exciting. His sensei called it fighting spirit. Either way none of this happened to matter to Lee Mu Bai because he finally had something to DO!

"Let's go!" Thunderous feet roared down the hill to penetrate the cloud barrier with the gusto of an overactive teen. A cacophony of noise greeted the youth as his eyes were dazzled by a great number of puzzling scenarios. From a cursory glance students fought amongst one another with one usually getting the advantage over their challenger. However, upon closer inspection intermingled in the crowd of students were persons who didn't look anywhere near the age that usually went to East Ridge. In fact the more he looked into it the more it seemed as if these poser students were somewhere in the mid twenties.

A spinning back kick worked Lee right into the scene as his heel sunk into the soft tissue of a ruffian who was about to take advantage of one of his adorable classmates, "Yatta! Emily, get out of here."

The girl nodded once and took off in the opposite direction.

So, it was that Lee Mu Bai worked his way towards the entrance to the science building. Rescuing classmates where he could and doing all he could just to put a Band-Aid on the situation. A Band-Aid the size of his foot that is. It never occurred to him to contact the outside world until he had marched through enough cannon fodder to fill out a C rated action flick.

With a little effort he managed to dig out his newly issued communicator from the depths of his pockets, "This is officer Lee Mu Bai reporting a Code Red at East Ridge High School. Currently on the scene of the crime and about to investigate further."

There was a static buzz for a couple seconds before a feminine voice filled the air, "Copy that Officer Lee. Sending out an interceptor unit right now. Fall back till ROAR agents get there."

"Wha- -s -hat? Ca-t hear you thr- the disturba-"

"I said for you to fall back!"

"I'm los- you, I'm goin- thr- a tunn-l?"

"Bull dang there aren't any tunnels near East Ridge!"

Click. Lee placed the object back into his pockets and proceeded to enter the science building. There was no way in hell he was going to miss this excitement because of something as insignificant as rank or contaminated files. Besides what was the point of him joining the Village Defense Unit if he was just going to ride the bench.

The boy was just about to further reassure himself of why this had been such a fantastic decision when he felt the swing of a bat grazing across the back of his cranium. Reaction time had saved him by just a couple inches of a skull bashing, but there was little he could do when the bulk of Kazekano Dono came slamming into his chest. The action took the duo through the door and into the nearest classroom where Kazekano firmly drove him through the nearest desk.

"...Sumeragi-san?" In the midst of his mental haze Lee could faintly make out how embarrassing this situation must be. To have his ass handed to him right in front of the school idol.

That didn't dominate too much of his time though for the rest was made up of clinging to consciousness and fending off unrelenting hammer fists from the human hulk.

Coughing the dust out of her lungs, Yozora knocks off the desk she used to shield herself at the last moment. Shaking her head, she quickly checked to see if her hearing was intact, and reached up to find a small cut on her head from the random pieces of glass that just settled.

"Please tell me that was just a first year in the science lab..." She mumbled as she struggled to get up and get her bearings.

Looking out the broken windows she could see bands of people fighting the students outside....

Damn...

A static noise is heard from her jacket. Someone was trying to reach her.

"...cer Sumeragi? Officer Sumeragi? Please respond!"

Yozora groaned, her head is starting to hurt. That explosion might of gave her a concusion. She picked up the comunicator and spoke into it.

"Copy...This is Sumeragi."

"Sumeragi-san. Are you injured?"

Doing a mental check of her muscles and her chakra, she speakes back into the small device, "Minor injuries, able to function. We have a code red in progress, request backup, investigating the disturbance..." Yozora reaches into her bag and pulls out a small pouch and attaches it to her waist.

"Sumeragi-san... your primary focus is to assist in the evacuation of the civilians and locate Officer Lee Mu Bai. Understood? When you locate Officer Lee, fall back to the evacuation point. Is that an affirmative?" the female dispatcher said.

Yozora grimaces. She has to find that kid? That guy was actually sworn in? He passed the written exam? She had seen him through the school, however, she thought he gave up on being a ninja...did he really have the same post as her?...Sigh....

"Sumeragi-san. Do you copy? Sumeragi-san?"

"Roger. Im on it. Will rendezvous with Lee-san at point 0672."

"Roger, Sumeragi-san."

So now her mission is NOT to investigate the explosion, but to become babysitter for the fool and escort everyone off the premises...Oh joy.

Quickly fishing out her kunai from the small pouch on her waist, she moves towards the door, only to quickly dodge a mass of bodies stumbling into the room.

One of which was Kazekano Dono and the other was the idiot she was going to look for. Both fighting each other.

Can this day get better?

Lee was currently fending off the brutes punches but seeing she had very little time and really don't want to see the little guy get pummeled, she summoned up her chakra, summoning small needles of lightning chakra and launched it into Kazekano's back, neck, and arms.
Spoiler:
Name: Spark Needles
Rank: C *Genin*
Range: Close-Medium
Jutsu Type: Ninjutsu
Elemental Affinity: Lightning
Clan:-
Description : A simple jutsu where the user forms thin needles of lightning chakra from their fingers. They then will launch the needles, impaling the opponent, overcharging nerve synapses in the opponents muscle tissue. The power of the needles become stronger upon increasing rank from genin (brief muscle spasms) to Jounin (total paralysis).

"Sorry, that may sting a little..." she smirked. She never really liked that dude. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all...

The larger man began to contort and spasm, giving Lee the chance to overtake the man.

"Officer Lee Mu Bai. Are you injured? Can you stand?" Yozora asked.

Damn.

Was this man, no creature, made of hard granite filed off of the world's toughest mountain? No matter how much Lee Mu Bai attempted shift the situation to where he could gain domination from his back the muscle bound fiend would not give an inch. This wasn't good in the least. Too many times had the younger boy seen a plethora of talented fighters stain their record underneath a hyped up wrestler. From the way things were headed he was just about sure he was headed towards that exact same path when he felt Kazekano's muscles slacken just a smidgen before entering a convulsion.

Lee pounced with all the mercy of a cobra.

One swift palm strike to the rib cage was enough to shift the older boy's weight to the point where he could gain his back. The next action was due to practice rather than a rational decision to end the fight. With his arms locked around Kazekano's torso there was little the man could do to stop Lee Mu Bai from hoisting him from the ground and doing a back bending suplex right through the teacher's desk. The "world's greatest sensei" mug never stood a chance when the crown of the stunned student's head shattered it along with the desk upon impact.

"Ugh." The glorious groan of a victor was anti-climatic to say the least. Lee stood with concentrated effort as he attempted to rid himself of his previous stupor. Slowly the clouds began to lift from his eyes to give way to the realization that his classmates had just seen him completely wreck the most dominant physical specimen in their grade. "Tsk. I hate wrestlers."

"Thanks, by the way...Sumeragi-san." He nodded towards the busty idol and was about to turn around when her words finally hit him. Officer Lee "Wait you're imperial PD too? I knew you did shinobi training but..."

Some people really did have the entire package. Brains, beauty, and bust. The triple D effect!

"I'm fine but we need to get these kids out of here." Lee spoke out of bravery more than truth since he still felt a little woozy from the first blow, "You there, Hachimiya! Finish breaking that glass and get everyone out of here. If you stick to the wall you should keep out of trouble...I think."

Wait. Now, that he thought about it the entire reason he had gotten jumped in the first place was because someone had nailed him from behind. If he wasn't so damn hard headed he probably would have been out cold. No further retaliation meant that asshole had made a run for it rather than contest with triple D's magic.

"Actually, never mind Sumeragi-san. You can take care of this."

As usual he didn't wait for a reply. The boisterous youth burst into the hallway took one look towards the door and then decided to plunge into the dark hallways of the school.

"I'm gonna see just who I really need to punch in the face!"
This whole scenario smelled like fish guts and if his grandma Joan was right, which she always seemed to be, if you follow the stink long enough you find the stinker.

Hunger was an angry, thrashing beast in Akio's stomach. The last time he could remember eating anything was a quarter loaf of day old bread that had been thrown out four days ago, making this the longest amount of time he had ever gone without food in years. He was in search of some place of refuge that gave out free food, but being surrounded by words that only looked like gibberish to him and being almost completely unable to communicate with the local populace, he had no idea where the closest one was or, much less, where he was going.

He was walking along the street hunched over, clutching his stomach, trying to focus on the next step forward, when he felt the ground shake from the force of the explosion. Akio recognized the sound instantly as he was flooded by memories from a far off land; memories of a foggy childhood that all that can be discerned was a history of mankind set out to harm itself. Despite the physical pain he felt, Akio pushed forward towards the building it came from, albeit at a terribly slow speed.

As he approached the building, he noticed two guards at the front door wielding rifles. They were distracted by harassing a girl who had tried to get away, pushing her in between themselves while they laughed.

Hey Girlie, whats your name!? one of the guards said as he flourished a butterfly knife out of his pocket and removed its safety with a flourish of his hand. The girl was about to burst into to tears.

"Emily..." she said as her body shivered in fear.

F..Fiight...Fiighting... Not... Good. The trio jumped noticing the boy who hadn't been there just a moment before. Standing as tall as he could, a boy with short, messy black hair, brown eyes and tan skin. His cheeks looked a tad bit sullen from looked from prolonged malnutrition, but despite that his body still looked pretty well built despite strangely misshaped, but that too would go away if he were able to eat properly.

It took them a minute to snap out of their surprise before the guard without the knife began to raise his gun at Akio. Without hesitateing, Akio grabbed the rifle in his left hand, and slammed his right fist which he had focused his chi into just moments before straight, into the guards torso, causing him to go flying into the wall next to the school door. The gun was snapped off its strap and left in the hands of Akio, which he used to baseball bat into the knife guards temple, knocking him out. The impact into the guards caused the gun to misfire, almost injuring Akio in the process and causing him to drop the gun. These guns were more primitive then the ones he had seen before.

The girl known as Emily stared at the boy not sure what he was going to do now, when suddenly the boy fell to the ground grabbing his stomach. Emily kept her distance from the boy but squatted down to the boys eye level just enough to see that he was in pain, but he wasn't injured. She reached into her pocket where she had left a wrapped half eaten granola bar she had left over from lunch and placed it in front of Akio.

Akio grabbed the small wrapped package as if it were more precious then gold and looked up at the girl with a look of such desperation hoping it was for him. she smiled and nodded her head right before getting up and running off. Akio shoved the tiny morsel into his salivating mouth and downed it in seconds. As he felt the half-chewed snack hit his stomach, and send a little relief through his body before even more pain washed over him as his stomach asked for more. He willed his stomach, to calm down as he got up and began walking into the building, into the other guerrillas who had heard the gun go off. The granola bar wasn't much but it would last him till he could find more food, and that would have to wait after he stopped this conflict.

"Wait! What?" Yozora exclaimed to the youth's back. She could feel the annoyance and fustration turning very quickly into anger. "YOU COME BACK HERE! WE HAVE ORDERS!!! OFFICER LEE!!!!"

Growling in frustration, Yozora takes out her communicator, "I have apprehended a suspect en route to pursuing Officer Lee. Someone needs to get him. Suspect currently unconscious. Science lab. Do you copy?"

A female was heard again from the device, "Roger Sumeragi, A team has just been deployed to your position."

A couple of ninja with the imperial police insignia, teleported into the room.

"...continue pursuit of Officer Lee and continue to help evacuate civilians."

After checking the ninja's documents, Yozora left the room running down the hall to see if she could find the idiot.

Sigh...

This dude. Lee would be lucky of she didn't fry him to a pulp. Smirking to herself, she turns a corner.

...Although, not that he's the type of guy she'd go for...

Yozora stopped in her tracks. Did she just think he was...

Laughing madly to herself, in either frustration or anger at her thoughts, she didn't really know at the moment, she kicks an old locker in the hall. The door exploded, knocking her back to the other side of the hall. "Please...enough with the explosions." Yozora mumbled, holding her shoulder.

Getting up and investigating the locker, she sees that there was a seal broken, and that someone placed a shoddy barrier in its place.

Hmmm....

Investigating a little further, the entrance led into a dark hallway. Smirking again to herself, she follows down the dark hall, kunai at the ready. She just figured she'd tell HQ about this a little later. Besides, what if Officer Lee was down here? Yeah! Officer Lee may be down here and she just had to investigate. That's what good officers do, right? Examine all possibilities?

Nodding to herself as she affirms her beliefs, Yozora takes off a little faster down the hallway. Wondering, if this led to the secret base she guarded but never knew of its location...

Tap. tap. tap.

Lee Mu Bai's footsteps were lightly raced across the tiles of East Ridge's halls with a fleetingness that guided his body through its dark twists and turns like the swift snaps of a hummingbird's wings. Twice he had to change his direction to circumvent a useless rumble, with the intruders who had taken over his school, by taking an alternate route. It was a fairly foolish assumption to think that he would run into the guy with the bat once again. In fact, he was pretty sure his actions went against every kind of procedure.

His pace slowed down a bit from indecision. Maybe he shouldn't have left Sumeragi-san to take care of the citizens’ evacuation. Still, given the situation there probably wouldn't be a whole lot of time to find out what was really going on here. Something in his gut screamed at him to find the answers and do it fast.

Is that what the call instinct?

"Bitch! Where's the mother [badword] entrance?" The sound of a slap punctuated the words with resounding effect.

Lee almost swore out loud. If he had not slowed down he would have ran right into the group of misfits. As silently as he could the boy backed his way behind an adjacent locker and crouched down to hear more.

"I-i don't know what you're talking about Kensuke-san!" The whimpering of a guy he barely knew from class 2-C curled its way down the dimly lit hallway. There was a thud as if the student had been shoved into the wall before an audible groan all but signaled that he had been struck once more. "The last thing I remember before the explosion was this purple haired kid walking in...Ah! God! Please don't stick me with that thing!"

"Hey, man maybe he's telling the truth."

"Like hell he is. Shove it down his throat Kensuke. Maybe he's working for Akura."

"Akura. That little dick. Just cause he knows a little ninja magic or two. I'll be damned if he gets on the boss's good side before I take over the clan." A sound of another strike rung true through the hallways. "Tell you what punk. I'll give you three seconds to pray before I paint the walls with your brain."

He had heard enough. No matter what the odds were there was no way this kids blood was going to be on his shoulders.

"Mada mada dane." Shoving his hands into his pockets Lee strode leisurely to the center of the hallway. Some would say the young officer cut an imposing figure in his school uniform. A thin stain of blood stained his right cheek matching a tie that loosely hung over the lapels of his black jacket. "I'm afraid I can't let you do that."

"Hahaha, aren't you that jit I tagged earlier?" The lead harasser, probably Kensuke, shoved the geek child down while cocking the black metal object he had previously inserted in the boy's mouth. All around him the group of six followers drew similar weapons up to point in Lee's direction. "Leave it to Kazekanadork to jack up an easy kill."

Shit. Seven guns pointed in his direction. He knew a little bit about the new tech that seemed to be galvanizing mundanes everywhere to step up for their rights. Two individuals with them weren't too much of a hassle, but with some many trained on him in such a small space? If he didn't move carefully his ass would be grass.

"You're all under arrest for engaging in terrorist activities. Drop your weapons and surrender immediately." Lee kept his face stoic in the hope of making an intimidating impression.

"Shoot him."

So much for that...

Blam!

He barely had time to launch the rock from within his pockets at the only light keeping the hallway from darkness before he felt the first bullet slam into his left shoulder, twisting him sideways into the wall. Unfortunately, there was no time to spare for pain. While the ruffians were concerned with emptying their payload into what they would assume was his hide, he circled around to break into the nearest classroom. It was a little tricky to navigate the trashed place, but somehow he managed to make it to the opposite door just in time to see the muzzle flashes advancing to his previous position.

In an explosion of movement Lee opened the door into the original hallway, gathered the fallen boy into his good arm, and stumbled into the next classroom. The fact that it was the chem lab was not lost on him. He was just hoping it wouldn't end up being his grave.

"Lee-san right...?" The voice came out as a whisper.

"Yeah. Don't talk I think you've got a couple broken ribs."

The boys fingers gripped his arm strongly, "They'll be...back. Entrance...under desk. I t-"

The sweet bliss of unconsciousness grabbed the child before he could finish.

Lee could only sigh as he half lifted half dragged the boy behind the furthest point in the room.

"Find that mother [badword]!"

Now, all that stood between him and more bullet holes was a flimsy teacher's desk.

Okay. So shes been following this hall now for a little while and still nothing. Every once in a while she'd find an empty room or a storage room full of desks. Maybe this was a bust. Slowing her pace, she pulled out her communicator for headquarters.

"This is Sumeragi. Still trying to locate Officer Lee..."

BZZZZ...

Odd. Maybe it dosen't work under ground.

Continuing to walk, Yozora noted the ceiling had different panels sometimes. Perhaps they were different entry points? The hallway continues to go lower and lower into the ground, until finally she reached a large iron door.

The door itself has many gears and cogs and multiple latches. Yozora touches the handle only to get shocked and hit against the wall.

"The second time! When will I learn not to touch things?" She says holding her head. A strong seal was placed on this door and she has very limited knowledge on seals.

Is this something she wants to know about? Or should she leave it to headquarters?

All of those innocent people up there...She cant just leave it be...

Nodding to herself, Yozora started speaking and making hand seals. She would get to the bottom of this. Beyond this door, might be the answers she seeks and Lee might of found a way to get in and she very well cant let him have all of the fun.

The door began to wobble and with a BOOM, it blew off its hinges.

Damn door...Hmmm. That was too easy.

After the dust cleared, the room she stepped in was...massive but something happened...recently.

Numerous seals graced the walls like graffiti. Most of which she couldnt understand. The shelves were full of books.

Papers and glass shards were all over the floors.

Medical and laboratory equipment all of the room was broken and off.

Different ninja weaponry is everywhere and she sees small vials filled with a red liquid everywhere.

"The air is heavy...I feel kinda funny here..." Yozora said to herself as she delved deeper into the large room.

She steps on something coming out from under one of the tables....or someone....

She pulls the person from underneath the table. Yozora recognized him as one of the math teachers in the school. Dead. Another person. The school nurse. Dead. The principal. Dead.

Something is wrong. Really wrong. Yozora then hears something in the corner.

A girl.

She couldn't of been more than 5 or 6 years old. Peculiar, she had long white hair and red eyes and covered in bandages.

The girl stared at her and smiled. Smiling back, Yozora kneels before the girl. She was told in training, when dealing with children its best to come to them as non menacing as possible.

"Hello, you must be scared. I'm Yozora. Can you tell me what happened?"

The girl still continued to smile and stand in the corner.

Perplexed, Yozora takes the girl into her arms. Man, she has quite a report to write...

BOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!

The explosion broke the wall and Yozora shielded the girl the best that she could. "You okay?"

"GIVE US THE BYAKKI!!!!!"

An army of men came in through the broken wall

...oh crap.

Byakki?

"Are you...Byakki?"
Yozora asked the girl in her arms. The girl continued to smile but then struggled to get out of her arms.

Yozora set the girl down on the floor and the girl walked over to the men that destroyed the wall.

Her eyes glowed.

Yozora blacked out.

Waking up later, Yozora finds the girl sitting next to her. Her eyes revealing worry. After briefly checking herself over, she smiles at the girl.

"Dont worry. I'm okay. Lets go find my friend. Then we can get you to safety."

The girl smiled and held Yozora's hand.

The men from earlier are all over the floor. Dead.

This girl...she did something...but what?
