Well... if he really wanted to, they could manage it, but the chances of innocents getting hurt was rather ridiculous.

Fortunately for most everyone involved, though, the onii-chan changed his mind, and Akai was quickly covering her nose and mouth with her sleeve moments before her companion created the cloud of smoke and grabbed her hand, pulling her along with him out of the smoke and into the crowded streets.

Once Akai recovered her footing, the girl darted into the lead, pulling the onii-chan along with her as they entered a pattern of random turns, weaving through crowded streets and narrow alleyways alike, the latter more common with the blood of the girl's blade.

And when they finally stopped in an alley, there were no signs of pursuit, and Akai was panting from the fight and the long run. She reached within her cloak and took out a soft cloth covered in blood stains, carefully wiping the blood from her blade until it shone in the light before she refolded the cloth and returned it to its earlier place, also returning her polearm to its sling on her back.

Emerald eyes turned to the onii-chan after she had finished caring for her weapon.

"So... how will we do this without attracting a crowd of bystanders like just now?"

The girl knew these streets better than he did, it seemed. Ayatsuri had no qualms about her tugging him along, zipping through the busy streets of the hidden coral village.

He felt the gun he had tucked underneath his cloak. If he wasn't careful this one would break, too. Ayatsuri wanted to really examine this gun afterwards and apply to a puppet, somehow. He was a weapon fanatic and a nerd at heart.

"I have no idea." Ayatsuri ran a hand through his soft brown hair. The young man looked around the alleyway and paced, as if something in here was going to give him some surge of brilliance. "There's no way we would even be able to get near that place, now. Too many of them have seen our faces. The casino's going to be way too active after that stunt we pulled. More guards, more security. It's dangerous."

Suddenly, the puppeteer stopped his pacing and looked to the girl. Brown eyes examined her over in confusion. "You should get out of here. You have done more than enough by bringing me to the casino. What I'm doing now is very dangerous. I expect that you can handle yourself very well, but I don't want to see you hurt." He also didn't have much experience working with others. "I'm a professional detective, you know." Ayatsuri lied. "Trust me, I can handle myself."

Emerald eyes half-closed as the girl gazed at the onii-chan, before saying rather bluntly, "You were going to keep fighting and get people hurt, as well as probably yourself. I doubt a 'professional' detective would get so caught up that they'd forget their surroundings."

She glanced around, soon finding a popsicle stick and picking it up without a thought, crouching down to sketch in the dirt and dust of the alley, soon having a rough map laid out of the area around the casino.

"So... if this is the casino, there's a hotel on this side, and a store on this side, I think the top levels of that are for the store keepers to live in."

She tapped the corresponding rectangles.

"This street is gonna get too much activity in general, and the alleyway behind it is probably gonna be well-guarded, but it's also probably one of their escape routes. The upper floors of the casino looked like the windows were all blacked out, covered, boarded up, or some combination of those. So their actual hideout is probably up there."

Akai stared at the map, toying with a strand of her hair as she thought.

"The front street is a no because of all the innocents around. The back alley could work, but it'd be like trying to siege a fort or something. So... what if we went in from the roof, or got through one of the higher windows? If we alerted somebody beforehand to round up all the guys that tried to escape from the ground level, we could work our way down pretty easily, since their defenses are probably the thickest on the bottom floor... right?"

Emerald eyes looked up at the onii-chan curiously, waiting for his thoughts on the matter.

Ugh. This girl. Ayatsuri rubbed his hair again as she gave him a verbal slap. He liked to think of himself as a professional, but it was far from true. Because, really, what sort of detective would risk the well being of such young girl by having her accompany him?

There didn't seem to be any use talking her out of it.

"Of course. The only way we're going to get into the casino is to sneak in. Or wait a week before trying again... and by then the blue suited man would have left. If he hasn't already left." There was a strong chance the mafia boss had made his way out of the village even before Ayatsuri and the girl made their scene outside of the casino. But, any sort of lead Ayatsuri could get would be fantastic.

Arms folded across his chest, Ayatsuri sighed. "So, how do you propose we get on top of the roof of the casino? We can't climb up the casino, hotel or shop-- and jumping across from one roof to the other would attract a lot of attention... unless we created some diversion on the ground so no one would bother to look up?" Ayatsuri looked to his companion for an idea. She seemed to be very bright and street smart, Ayatsuri wanted to see if she already had a plan. "I'm a puppeteer. I could organization a diversion easily, I think."

He was overthinking it a bit, she thought.

"When do normal people ever look up? If we're stealthy enough and do it at night, we'll be fine. Especially since there's no moon tonight. We can get on a rooftop a few buildings away and then just get across as quickly and quietly as possible. Not to mention if we keep to the center-line of the rooftops, most of the buildings are high enough nobody would look up and see us except for the occasional alley we might have to cross."

But if he was a puppeteer....

"When we get inside, you could use whatever puppets you have to help take down whoever's inside as fast as possible, so we could try to keep the alarm down as long as we can."

Green eyes turned back to the diagram, her gaze darting from one rectangle to the next.... Her popsicle stick poked at a rectangle three buildings away from the casino, on the same side as the shop.

"If we climb up here, from the alley, it'll keep the distance short without really grabbing anybody's attention."

"I don't think there are many 'normal' people in this town." now Ayatsuri was just being a smart ass. "But you make a good point. As long as its dark and we stay on the rooftops we should be able to make it in okay."

It was a very simple plan. Be stealthy, wait until nightfall, and break in. Not very elaborate, but it didn't have to be, did it? All they needed was to get inside. From there it would be easy. Hopefully.

He rolled his shoulders. "Absolutely. I know my way around weapons, too. I have offense covered. I can't promise for a perfect assassination, but they'll go down quick." Ayatsuri didn't like killing very much. But given the circumstances, and the information that was at hand, a few criminals getting what they deserved was fine by him. As long as there was some left in case an interrogation was required.

The man rubbed his hands together, looking up at the sky. It wasn't nightfall yet. The two of them had a while to wait before the sun set.

"You do realize that our faces are most likely going to become pretty well known by the criminals around here. There are going to be people who see us. And if by some miracles we catch the blue-suited man and bring him to justice..." This town was lacking a proper police force, so getting him arrested was going to be an issue. But, one problem at a time. "...this whole massive organization is going to know. Even if we don't catch up, we're breaking into a base of operations. They're not going to appreciate it. And that's a lot of weight to put on your shoulders, you know. Criminals are going to come after you. Do you really want to come with me?" Ayatsuri asked.

Assassination?

Akai bit her lip, staring down at the diagram. She'd... never killed anyone before. Never seen anybody die at her hand. Death, she'd seen, but....

"You do realize that our faces are most likely going to become pretty well known by the criminals around here. There are going to be people who see us. And if by some miracles we catch the blue-suited man and bring him to justice... this whole massive organization is going to know. Even if we don't catch up, we're breaking into a base of operations. The girl smiled dryly at that.

"I don't think it'd be any different from what I usually put up with, Puppeteer-onii-chan. I'll be fine, don't worry."

He nodded. The girl was determined to accompany him into the casino. There was no turning back for her now. They were really in this together.

"All right. Then I guess all that's left is to wait until nightfall," the puppeteer said, hands in his long tan cloak as he looked up to the orange sky. Only a couple hours before the sun vanished beyond the horizon. Hopefully there wouldn't be too many lights on after the sunset.

"My name is Ayatsuri." He gave the girl a smile. How long had they been running around without properly exchanging names? "I figure if we're going into such a dangerous mission we should have some trust in each other." Not that Ayatsuri had much reason to doubt the girl. She was very young, yes. But that wasn't why Ayatsuri had faith in her. Something about her was just very trustworthy.

She hesitated, but only for a moment, offering a small smile in return.

"Akai."

Akai led the way up a wall in a narrow alleyway, her white cloak tucked away into her backpack to reveal a simple red, fitted t-shirt and tan shorts, her polearm's blade covered in a cloth to prevent any glare from the streetlights below. Chakra gave her hands and feet a secure hold as she quickly climbed, keeping away from any windows and soon pulling herself over onto the roof, silently crawling along. A quick pair of hands helped pull Ayatsuri-onii-chan up with her, and she took the lead again, sprinting low along the center of the roof, leaping lightly over a second alleyway before slowing and moving low as she approached the roof of the casino, readying herself for the battle to come as she slinked across the casino roof, approaching the back edge and finding a window.

She looked back at her companion and motioned silently to the window below before cocking her head to the side, as if to ask if he was ready.

"Akai." He looked up to the warm colored sky. "Nice to meet you, Akai."

"Oof," grunted Ayatsuri as Akai helped him up onto the roof. She was a very quick and agile girl. Her small, lean, frame was probably to thank for that. The puppeteer was a bit jealous of how fluid her movements were.

Hopefully no one saw the two shinobi as they raced across the rooftop. They were both able to keep completely silent. They likely went unnoticed.

A leap brought Ayatsuri by the young girl's side as he stuck a perfect landing on the casino roof top. Really, it was a perfect landing given the distance he had traveled in his jump. You would think he would've gotten a gold medal or something for it.

Reaching into his cloak, Ayatsuri pulled out a single scroll and unfurled it and stuck it into his mouth. The moment they got into the top floor of the casino he would activate the scroll and unless his puppet. "O-khay. Are you ready?" He whispered, his speech a bit impaired by the scroll in his mouth.

The window they were in front of was locked. The other windows were no better. So there was really only one way to get in, unfortunately.

Crash!

With a single kick, the window shattered inward and Ayatsuri jumped through, avoiding being cut by glass. At the same time, chakra lit the scroll in his mouth and with a poof of white smoke Warawara was summoned before the puppeteer, a few threads of chakra connecting it to Ayatsuri's hand.

They had entered a dimly lit room, several men were playing what seemed to be poker. However, each of the men were finely dressed and had guns of some sort spread through out the table. Which they all immediately began to reach for.

"Hey, who the hell--" With another kick, Ayatsuri knocked the table over, spilling cards and guns all over the floor.

Warawara's forearms suddenly sprung small blades, which were immediately put to use as the puppet danced around a couple of the men, cutting them in several different areas of their body. Coated by sleeping poison, Ayatsuri had no reason to finish the job. Before long, the injured men would be fast asleep.

While several fingers were busy controlling Warawara, Ayatsuri used his other hand to reach for a few kunai in his pouch, ready to start throwing them should Akai need assistance. Like Ayatsuri had mentioned, his best skill was any sort of weaponry. Both puppets and traditional weapons.

What lied beyond this room was a bit worse than more men playing poker. The top couple floors were where the dangerous, and darker, transactions went down. People betting their lives on silly games, people selling off others into slavery, and weapon as well as drug dealing. And somewhere, maybe, the blue-suited man was partaking in one of these activities.

Akai swung in after Ayatsuri, being just as careful to avoid cutting herself on the broken glass, quickly uncovering the blade of her polearm and soon slashing at limbs and hitting hard with the butt of her polearm's handle, working to immobilize and knock out her enemies as she danced. A man tried to come up behind her, and she slammed a kick into his stomach just as a kunai embedded itself in his shoulder, a useful assist from Ayatsuri-san. The girl flashed a smile in thanks before knocking out the final man in the room, gesturing for her companion to follow as they went deeper into the building....

They rescued slaves, beat the crap out of the gang members, stopped the stupid games, and finally entered a room where white powder was spread out on the table and guns were laid out in piles, and the pedophile in the blue suit from before was snorting the strange powder.

His underlings spotted the two shinobi and the puppet first, but Akai was already launching forward, slashing and beating and dancing the dance of combat, leaving the blue-suited man to her companion.

"We need to be careful. There may be shinobi in this part of the building." Ayatsuri warned his partner. There could even potentially be shinobi stronger than himself. The last thing he wanted was Akai to get hurt on his behalf.

They were stealthy, the two of them. Hopping from room to room, quickly silencing the criminals as they entered. Some killed, some murdered, and some assassinated.

A snoozing "guard" was passed out on a chair, keys left ideal on a desk beside him. A few prison cells were left otherwise unguarded, young women trapped inside. As Ayatsuri suspected, these women were definitely being sold off. Unable to control himself, the puppeteer found his free hand wrapped tightly around a kunai knife he pulled from his pouch.

"Son of a bitch," he muttered, placing one hand over his mouth while the other slashed his throat. A quick death. Perhaps more than the guard deserved.

Ayatsuri unlocked the girls' cells. "There's not much more we can do for you ladies." The detective had too much responsibility, and finding the blue suited man was first responsibility. After giving the women some options, they decided to make a run for it-- disguising themselves as bandits with supplies around the room. Under any other circumstances Ayatsuri would have escorted them out. These were the decisions he had to make. Hopefully they made it out all right.

A few more rooms of just more of the same. Bandits. Beat up. Knocked out. Leave. So far there weren't any sort of clues as to the blue suited man's whereabouts. Though Ayatsuri could not argue with the other positive results of their work so far.

Silently opening the door to what felt like the last room, a few thugs were casually sitting around a table. It looked as if they were taking drugs. More importantly, it appeared the blue suited man was taking drugs. Akai kind enough to take the henchmen on, Ayatsuri rushed toward the crime boss.

"Blue suited man!" Ayatsuri's fingers went to work, his Warawara puppet circling toward the backside of the fire bearded man. "You are under arrest!"

Standing up, the man snorted. Quickly wiping any remaining crystals from his nose. "Idiot. You call yourself a shinobi?" Warawara, with sleeping poison blades extended, attempted to slash the blue suited man's back.

A plume of smoke quickly engulfed the man, and the smoke just as quickly vanished. A man in a red cloak remained with a blonde beard inside of a red one. Fooled by a simple henge no jutsu technique. He removed a sword from its sheath, blocking the sickles on Warawara's forearms with his own blade. "Tansei is long gone, kiddo." The swordsman threw a punch into Ayatsuri's puppet causing wood to crack as the genin-ranked puppet was thrown backwards. The imposter posing as Tansei, the blue suited man, wasn't just another bandit, but a skilled shinobi as well.

"Damn it. We were too late." Ayatsuri hissed, stretching out fingers and stopping Warawara from slamming into a wall. It opened its mouth and launched a small fury of senbon at the man as the puppeteer pulled out another scroll from his cloak. "Well, you'll do just fine for confinement and interrogation! The Republic doesn't take well to illegal drug use!" Cocaine, most likely.

With a few bends of the wrist the swordsman easily blocked each of the incoming senbon. "Tch!" Throwing himself off the ground, the shinobi-bandit made contact with Ayatsuri-- his knee to the detective's gut. "Stay away from Decay, kid!" The organization's name was Decay... how simple.

As Ayatsuri nearly doubled over from the pain caused by the powerful collision of bone to stomach, the swordsman swung his blade down to the chuunin's shoulder. The scroll still in his hand, Ayatsuri parried the blade with the thin steel wrapping around the piece of parchment. The suna-nin leaped back, his right eye squinting from pain as Warawara came at the swordsman's back again for another try at cutting him with his poison-coated sickles. "He's too strong..." Ayatsuri kept the scroll in his left hand, too nervous to try to summon his second puppet under these circumstances. He didn't want to be without some sort of "shield" should he try to attack again.

"That wasn't your typical kind of drug, you know." The bandit spun on his left foot, bringing his right leg up and smashing it against Warawara's chest, dealing a finishing blow on the puppet, fully exposing its chest cavity. It wasn't much use now, the gears were jammed. "Enhancement drugs! Chakra enhancers! Most effective on shinobis. Only Decay scientists know how to make this shit!" Small sparks of lightning ran along the swordsman's blade as he gave Ayatsuri a wicked smile. "You picked a wrong time to start a fight with me, kid."

Akai darted and weaved among the three underlings, quickly discovering that these weren't the usual thugs as she ducked under a blade of lightning and spun out of the way of bullets of water, only to be knocked off her feet by a gust of wind.

Emerald eyes flashed in anger for a moment before smoothing out into calm, rolling back to her feet and jumping back into the fray with a wide horizontal slash, only to spin and slam her foot into the water shinobi's and slam the back of her fist into his throat, sending him down gasping while she slashed at the lightning shinobi's legs, managing a good gash before he leapt back and she did the same, forming handsigns and shooting small fireballs at the wind shinobi just as he launched another gust of wind, the resulting burst of flame resulting in a singed Akai, a burning room, and the men screaming and jumping out of windows or running to the nearest source of water.

Wasn't her fault. He shouldn't have sent Fuuton at her! At least it wasn't anything fatal if they didn't do anything stupid....

Akai licked her fingers and put out a small flame on a hairtip before jumping at the man in red, slashing at his back from behind as flames crackled and smoke rose lazily to the ceiling.

Ayatsuri squinted as flames that his companion started began to burn bright. Next would come the smoke that would certainly make it hard to breath. But the detective wasn't concerned about the smoke as much as the enhanced shinobi trying to end his life. Priorities.

"Nice try, brat!" The swordsmen cackled as he sidestepped, easily avoiding the young girl's attack.

Widening his eyes, the puppeteer saw an opportunity. Warawara reeled back to Ayatsuri, the chuunin reached into his pouch before slapping a few explosion notes on the puppet's back. There wasn't really any options left.

"I'm not above hitting kids!" He shouted, eyes flicking to Warawara as it flung itself as the swordsmen. The girl would have to wait.

"Akai, get back!" A chakra string from Ayatsuri tugged at the young girl's clothing, requesting that she stood clear of the swordsmen and puppet.

Boom!

As the swordsmen shoved a sword into Warawara's inner workings, the wooden thing grabbed a hold of the bandit and detonated. Several small explosions added to the smoke and fire in the room.

"God damn it!" Coughed the man, staggering back. His cloak was tattered and his front side was almost totally black from soot and hot ashe. "Come on out you--"

Ayatsuri slid through the smoke cloud, pushing himself off the ground and delivering a powerful kick to the dazed bandit's gut. As the man flew through an already broken window, Ayatsuri had enough time to pull a kunai from his pouch and launch it at the man. It stuck into his arm, a piece of paper flapping against the kunai as the writing on it began to glow a light blue.

Boom!

The rest of the bandit's had cleared out, and now the fire was spreading. "The blue suited man, he's not here." A frustrated Ayatsuri quickly searched around a broken table before finding a vial intact. It contained the same sort of white powder the swordsmen had used to get his "boost". Evidence.

"We need to not be here, too." Ayatsuri took a step away from the table as it caught fire. "This casino's going to burn, Akai."

Taking a look at a burnt, broken, pile of wood that was once his puppet, Ayatsuri exited the room, covering his mouth with his sleeve as smoke poured out of the room. Fire not too far behind.

"Fire!" Ayatsuri shouted as he rushed down the stairs, dozens of people gambling-- bandits and non-bandits alike-- stared at the newcomer. "Everyone get out!" No one was about to question a man screaming fire coming down from a private area of the casino. In reality, this fire was probably the best escape plan! Of course, Ayatsuri wasn't about to stop and help everybody out. The faster he and Akai could get out, the better.

It could've ended better, really.

Akai launched out of the door of the casino with Ayatsuri-san close behind, others fleeing just as quickly as screams and panic began.

They stood before the flaming building at a safe distance now, coughing and breathing in clearer air, Akai grimacing as sparks from the fire threatened to light other buildings, the breeze only increasing the danger.

Then came cries for order, buckets of water, local officers... one, a more enthusiastic man, noticed her and began shouting, his voice raising above the panic: "THAT'S THE GREEN-EYED DEVIL! SHE MUST'VE STARTED THE FIRE! GET 'ER!"

And then said man was barreling towards her, and Akai groaned and facepalmed before turning.

"Sorry Ayatsuri-san, was nice to meet you, I'll look out for the blue-suited man, BYE!"

Akai launched onto the rooftops, fleeing from the shouting officer and any others that might want to come after her, rapidly departing and losing any pursuers before her new-found friend would be able to get a word in....

It was annoying that things always ended up this way.
