Struggle to the Death (Seijitsu)

Outside the walls of the major cities, the Snow Empire boasts a variety of climates and landscapes. From the frozen glacial desert of the north, to the deciduous rain forest in the south, the four provinces are fun to discover for those who can keep their wits about them. Wild beasts of primitive and dangerous proportions loom in the corners of even its most barren wastelands, and the criminal elements are almost free to roam anyplace that is secluded from civilization.

Struggle to the Death (Seijitsu)

In the rush, they had entered a completely new area within Yuki no Kuni. They had been forced to take to the trees because of the myriad of obstacles below them that would have assuredly interrupted their path. The forest was glazed with ice, which made it difficult to maintain adequate traction at such high speeds. Nobody involved were going to be deterred.

Asoka ran away and her pursuers gave chase.

"Give it up, boys! You're not catching me! Not in this lifetime."

"It's easy to scoff when you're so far away!"

"What is that supposed to mean? If I wasn't far away, you'd be catching me!"

"Just give us time, you little bitch."

Mercenaries. Lots of them. Most of them didn't speak, but there were at least ten chasing her. It was a mixture of Jounin and Chuunin; the former in the front, the latter trailing behind those as backup. They were adorned with strange garb, which resembled reinforced armor at a glance. Given her reputation, they were either hired or involved in a criminal ring.

She was a fair bit ahead of them. But to her surprise, she noticed someone in the distance.

No sooner than Asoka realized she had been ambushed, a chakra net spanned out and attempted to ensnare her. She stopped on a tree limb, conjuring her Reduced Heaven technique to slow the net. She ran to the left, guiding the Jinton sphere with her, making certain she was out of range from being trapped for good. With that accomplished, and with the plan to catch her seemingly backfired, Asoka dispelled the jutsu and prepared another—one designed for intense speed.

Success.

Except...

With the sudden loss of her equilibrium, she trailed off the tree and plummeted toward the ground.

The mercenaries had closed the distance between she and them. Once the leader of the group was supplied with a small opening, within the flinching of his hand, Asoka was impaled through her sternum with a large, swiveled blade.

"Oh god..."

"Told you," said the scruffy man, grinning through his jagged teeth.

Fluttering its wings, the tiny body of a simple snow white butterfly made its way onto the tip of a finger as slender and delicate as its own body.

Looking up to the dull hide of a frozen tree, Seijitsu kept her gaze upwards.

Memories of red, glistening and wet returned her to younger years, where she had met her first love.
Those dark eyes, that raven hair, her heart pulsating with just the touch of his hand.

Reaching outwards, she rested her palm upon the encrusted surface. The cracked shingles of the bark feeling rough and chilled against her naked palm.

"Sivamet..." One word, whispered tenderly towards the wind. Private and foreign to all others, it was her special name for him.

The butterfly tapped quietly onto her finger with it's appendages, a replay of images it had seen channeling into her mind. The recollection of the chase and the young female's being cornered...she would be dead soon... but they wanted something from her.

Blinking, Seijitsu closed her eyes and focused her energy. With a lifting of the snow around her, she gradually faded away into the snow. Taking on the form of a simple butterfly.

Tiny, pale pink wings made their way before the eyes of the man that had glared down upon her.

Materializing in a puff of smoke, Seijitsu stood between the girl and the man.

Resting her hand gently on his blade hilt, she looked up towards the man with calm eyes.

"Please remove your weapon from this young lady, sir."

Asoka tried to move, but it was difficult and excruciating. Anything she did made the blade embrace her flesh, continuing to slice it. The intense pain was almost too much to handle while conscious. As the men drew near, another presence appeared. She could hear a delicate voice instructing the person to remove the weapon. Asoka braced herself.

"Remove it? If you say so."

The man approached Asoka and wrapped his filthy hand around the handle of the blade, ripping it from her sternum in an upward tugging motion. She gasped out, shocked at first, clenching desperately at the open wound. Once the pain had set in, she belted a loud, tormented scream across the forest landscape. Birds scattered. The man backed away.

Desperate in her cling to life, she mustered the strength to turn herself over on her back.

"Help me..." Her voice cracked, tears welling in her eyes. "Please?"

"Aw, would you look at that. She's pleading now."

The others had finally caught up. They too gawked at the fallen Asoka.

"You don't have anything clever to say now, do you?"

"As luck would have it, we have a kage on our hands now as well."

"Wouldn't you know it? You're right. We can get rid of two pests in one go."

Asoka placed her hands to each side, trying to lean herself up. It was wasted energy, and it hurt so badly.

The foremost one approached, placing the sole of his sandal on Asoka's cheek, digging her head into the ground. He looked over at Seijitsu with a grin, practically mocking her with his very domineering presence over the small-stature kunoichi.

"You expecting to do something about this pitiful little twerp being offed?"

Asoka reached to her side, pulling out a kunai and jabbing it deep into the man's femoral artery. He fell over with a yelp, placing his hands over the wound and trying to conceal his pain and curses. Asoka wiped the mud from her face with an arm and spat on the fallen shinobi. That one was lucky. The others, she could not do anything about.

"Oh ho. There's some fight in this one after all. What about the Yukikage?"

This wasn't going to work, logic wouldn't affect them.

"I will ask you once and never again: Let her go, please."

The leader of the group simply snarled and examined the soldier who had been stabbed. Gazing lightly at her, his smile was as sweet and tender as that of a bloody angel freshly fallen.

Seijitsu began to lift up her hands to form handsigns, but her hands were knocked down by the blunt end of the weapon as a soldier disabled her, another slapping her against the small of her back and propelling her forward, she caught a knee in the stomach from the leader himself.

"Don't try." He sneered down at her. Quickly knocking up her chin with a kick and then stomping her head down into the ground, a trickle of red fell unto the snow nearby. His wide and heavy foot pressed onto her head, causing a massive headache.

Her hands dug into the snow, her nails desperately digging into the depths and crunching the white flakes. Her back arched as she tried to stand, but the blunt end of his weapon suppressed.

Her hands struggled for a moment before squirming feebly. Then finally, in a final skirmish her body gasped out and finally stood still in the snow.

Looking at her motionless body, one of them kicked at her ribs. Red began to pool around her body as if she were a rotten fruit and the contents easily spilt by the lightest of touches.

Silence fell over the group, and then a slight burst of laughter followed by an eruption from them.

"What a [badword] pathetic kage!" Howls of laughter erupted from the group.

The laughter was quickly halted as a hand grasped at the ankle of the leader.

Seijitsu's body began to rise out of the snow very slowly. The leader's suppression ignored and she quickly came to her full height.

Crimson blood leaked onto the front of her dress. Looking him straight in the eyes, Seijitsu's gaze grew hard and cold.

Within seconds, her hands reached out towards the man's chest and with a quick slam downwards, a red wave of chakra eminated from her palms. The man's full and lively color instantly took on the parlor of the dead, and his calves erupted in a red splash.

The others took up their arms and attacked the kage. Turning to face the girl and those attacking her, her face was stained with twin streams of blood leaking from her pupilless eyes.

A vagabond thrusted his spear towards her head, only to have her dodge it. Her hands rested on his forearm, and with a quick application of pressure, a crunching noise was heard. The entire appendage fell down lifeless in her touch, growing heavy apprently.

Swaying her hands mercilessly and fluidly, Seijitsu's palms grew to hold onto a light pink tinge and grasped at her attacker's stomach. Palm lying flat on the surface, she quickly turned her wrist around. A visceral sound of splashing and flesh splitting.
He quickly turned his eyes inward, spitting out odorous bile. His body rather quickly collapsed.
Turning her gaze towards those around Asoka, Seijitsu lifted up her hands.

"Close your eyes." The order was uttered.
If she did or not, Seijitsu looked onward to the group moving in on her. The remainder of the group made their full out charge.

Touching one's forehead, she shattered the bone and sent it flying inwards as they made a frontal assault.
Then another was disabled by a grasping of their neck. Her hand grasping at it, channelig chakra into the capillary beds, flow of blood to the head was instantly ceased.

The screams came out in many forms aftewards. Her hands halted as she came towards the one Asoka had debilitated slightly.

His allies lay in mangled, bleeding corpses along the red snow of Yuki behind her.

Her face, that which could belong to an angel herself had it not been encrusted by blood, snow and dirt glared down upon him as he fell to the ground before her. Her pale white eyes not seemingly seeing but peircing through the young man, her words were simple.

"Leave and learn."

She kneeled before him, touching his ankle with a simple graze. The wound quickly fixed itself as the wound closed quietly and damaged tissue and vessels began to reform perfectly.

When the kage raised herself, the man crawled away in fear of his own safety.

Standing there, the grotesque horror of a woman looked down on Asoka blankly, before her eyes returned, and with them her normal, gentler countenance. Seijitsu gasped out for air before knocking down to the group on her knees before the girl, coughing up the remaining blood that had accumulated from her body of Magdalene seal.

She placed a hand on Asoka's chest where the wound was with her hand, glistening with her own glistening blood. Slowly, the liquid took on a life of it's own and began to cleanse the wound of impurities and it's damages.

"...Are... you okay, miss?" Seijitsu's voice came out inbetween ragged gasps.

"Yukikage-sama!"

Asoka watched in horror as Seijitsu was overtaken and beaten down by the band of thugs. She tried to raise herself up and intervene, but the strength and pain tolerance required were more than her body could muster. She fell back, helpless, nearly overwhelmed from it all. She resented herself for becoming a worthless, sniveling kunoichi.

She resented even more that her last moments would be spent at the mercy of these assholes.

But then something changed. Something awakened.

Through what seemed like merely touching her foes, their skin and bone alike separated, jutting out in all directions–just like their flowing blood. It was a frightening sight, but Asoka could not look away. She watched, enamored by the skill; frightened by the once-soft features of the woman that had grown to resemble a monster hard and unkind.

She was told to close her eyes. That much she processed. She was too much in shock to carry the order out.

The last of the enemies were mangled, one of them allowed to go. Asoka wasn't sure why.

When a hand from the woman raised in her direction, she flinched–the image that had resulted from the Magdalene state still freshly seared to memory. Once she caught a glimpse of Seijitsu's face in its relaxed state, the shock value perished. A soothing warmth overtook her wounds and soon they were closed up without so much as a scar. The pain was gone.

Seijitsu had fallen over, her voice becoming ragged. Asoka jolted up, attentive to the problem and hoping it could mend itself.

"Yeah, I'm fine, but..."

Overcome with emotion, her arms wrapped around Seijitsu and gently clasped into her. The resultant blood that spilled down her shoulder did not matter. Their drenched shoulders matched as Asoka started crying again.

"Thank you so much."
