Death of a Hero [KUMOVENT]

[ \Sakura Hiroba | Kamiza | Yomi/ ]
The capital city of Raikou no Kuni, nestled between mountain peaks in the center of the country. Its altitude and location lead to common snowfall, though it is not necessarily cold throughout the year, clear days often leading to be as warm as summer. At the southern end of this star-shaped city lies a great stone bridge spanning a large lake, connecting to the road back down to the rest of the world. The home of both the Daimyo and Kamiza, the Onigami Compounds.

The only reason his knife-hand wasn't fast enough to go through Otoha's windpipe was because the second the multiple chains hit the sword, they started vibrating so intensely that it made Ryuuchi lose focus for a split second...enough for Otoha to make his escape from the attack. It seemed that whatever that blade was, it made Ryuuchi's weapons vibrate, possibly meant to disarm the opponent, between the other that nullified chakra attacks and this one that countered weapons, Ryuuchi didn't know which was more annoying.

But it didn't matter, the real problem was the fact that the kid also had some sort of lightning cloak only it looked like another element was added to the equation, wind. He seemed confident, his confidence and even the joke from earlier didn't anger Ryuuchi, rather they made him grin even more...he enjoyed beating down fools who thought too highly of themselves, cocky little pricks...like he had been before meeting people like Raeve, Kiyoshi and others that kicked his ass and put him in his place.
Otoha moved to attack, throwing a couple of knife-hand attacks at Ryuuchi, it looked like he enjoyed mimicking and mocking him however there was a flaw in his little play...he wasn't as strong as he thought he was. The incredibly fast attacks to a normal person, but to Ryuuchi they were much slower...much more manageable and avoidable.

Ryuuchi was done with the game, it was time for him to put the kid in his place. A side-step, a bob and weave around two of the thrusts and he was by Otoha's side, the first attack would be a fast and sharp punch to the side, namely to the liver. The power of the first punch, even with Otoha's regeneration abilities, would stagger and possibly stun Otoha, but if that didn't do it, the attack to follow would. Ryuuchi would just as quickly and powerfully rise his knee to make it crash against Otoha's solar plexus which would be enough to send Otoha back a few feet and completely stun him, setting up for the third and final attack.
To finish it all off, Ryuuchi's right hand claws grew longer and sharper...his body would take a toll but he pushed it, max speed, as fast as possible he swung his arm...his aim? Decapitation.

Her treatment wasn't...bad, considering his injuries, there wasn't much she could do though.
As they walked, Ichigo used his ability to sense Ryuhou's location along with what everyone around them was doing. It was interesting, they seemed to realize that he was not to be [badword] with, even injured, which meant that all attacks done in that direction were aimed at the girl following him which was the obvious weakest link.
And speaking of the girl, she talked...a lot...it as annoying for Ichigo and he made his displeasure known.

"Shut up...too much talking..."

He waved her off just as Ryuhou came into view. The Shinigami looked around to see the status of the battlefield and then sighed, noticing how the vice-captain was still alive...though he wasn't one to talk so he just dropped it. Ichigo simply nodded and signalled to Ryuhou.

"This place was a waste of time...we're leaving."

The weapon slowed into the black murk of the shadowy beast's arms, even as Momona pushed her own weight into the leverage of her strike. On solid ground, this impact could create a wheel-sized crater, but all of it dissipated into the creature and returned up her arms in a shudder. The dividing arms started to crawl along the edge of her spatula, and it disturbed the Koumori to gaze into blackness that not even her eyes could penetrate. But her body moved swiftly with her might, and with her weapon stuck in the enemy she lifted her body upwards onto one arm at the point of her weapon, her other hand a sudden blur as she bombarded the gleaming eyes of the demon. Knives, smaller spatulas, forks, and sharpened chopsticks mostly, but amid it all she had seized a pepper shaker and snuck it into the flow of weapons. Her next flung weapon went faster than it, cracking its wooden side and spilling a spicy, burning cloud of ground pepper right into the monster's face. As powerful as it was, its senses would turn against it if any of it came in contact with the encasing cloud of powdered spice. Still the creeping arms had climbed her weapon, and just as she pushed away they snagged her by the wrist, and she dropped to the dirt with a heavy thud.

Her free hand was already moving, taking out a cleaver and shaving away at the snagging black chakra with vibrating speed. It was thicker than bone, but her incredible chopping speeds slowly outpaced the recovering chakra. Dirt was in her lungs, her ribs ached from her drop, but she wouldn't allow it to affect her focus and strength that could mince a coconut, rising to her knees and using her lower strength to pull away from the force. From its dwindling grip on her she could feel it pulling something out of her, her instinct told her it was chakra, but she had little use for it anyway and she kept up her resistance. When the chakra grip was just tendrils her mighty legs overthrew themselves, and with freed movement she became suddenly aware of what a bit of a chakra drain could do for her reserved energy. She felt dizzy, and stumbled back until she crashed over and into the remnants of a ruined cart, unsure whether she had completely freed herself from the monster's grip--and if she would be able to harm it at all, remembering she'd left her trademark spatula buried in the beast.

Her heart burned and billowed steaming blood through her muscles, but it powered them up and she rose from the debris slowly, painfully, facing the mutated shinobi with a scowl. She had scarcely caught her breath, but two long deboning knives were held ready in her hand, eyes as black as his chakra staring back into him, when suddenly her ears perked and her expression widened with surprise. Momona turned her face up sharply to the sky, past the surrounding and readied BOLT, and into the swirling cloud of bats that had gathered overheard. Her ears penetrated their supersonic squeaks, and like an accent she recognized their master immediately. Her face pinched into a glare again, this one worse than previously and at her amassing bat-kin.

How dare he.

"This isn't your fight, old man!" she bellowed upwards. "Kumo doesn't need you!"

The cloud of bats fluttered, and directionless within it all, as if spoken by the beating of their wings, came a smoky voice. "This is bigger than our problems, Momo." It was her father's voice, even if she noticed some changes in it since almost a year ago. With a pop of bent air he appeared in three triangulated places, floating above the streets, and she saw at once he had indeed changed: instead of black as she last seen, his right eye was as bright as a blue moon now, and marred just like one too. The bats behind him twisted in their flurry, cycling out a thick stream of shimmering weapons that travelled along with their flight.

Momona's face was red and wet, and with three quick flicks of her hand she sent a cluster of knives at each Tsuuki. All were stopped before they reached him, turned in mid-air and joining the streaming weapons. "F*ck off!" she screamed, wanting to throw more but knowing it was futile. She had been castrated once again.

There was no joy in Tsuuki's faces, none of which could even turn to look at his daughter, and his reply was shallow and cold. "Very well, but I'm taking this with me." Immediately there came rapid pops of Flight energy from the weapon stream, each time firing off three simultaneous blades, balls, and buckshot down at Ian.

The moon-eyes of Tsuuki grew brighter more of the Rokubi's power coming forth and allowing his senses to penetrate the warped black chakra, sensing the strange BOLT from the Yuki Ball with some surprise but unswayed in his attack. Three pairs of hands swept downward in their corners, precisely sinking Flight chakra into ruined street. Then all three raised their arms up together, a like a cork a 10-meter wide circular chunk of the earth popped up, with the half-transformed Ian under suppressive fire at the center. The Tsuuki clenched their fists and threw them up again, and the small floating island was hurled swiftly into the approaching dawn above, with the storm of bats and blades, and the three Tsuuki, following right behind.

Unobscured by buildings and mayhem, his super senses found the many airships and dragons fighting in the distance, and realized he had brought them both into their sights.

"What's the point in joining if...

Nervousness.

It wasn't a new feeling to Ian, not in the least bit. He had been nervous plenty of times in his life, from fights to tests to girls to simple introductions. Nervousness was a part of life, it told a person when they should focus, when they should concentrate and plan their decisions a little better than normal. It neccesary, but in the life of Ian, twice now, it along with other emotions had been stripped from him. They had been ripped from his body, ripped from his brain with the utmost efficiency, turning him into something less than human, less than a live. A simple breathing, organic puppet.

This time, it was different.

The feeling was there, in all of its heart pounding, mind wracking glory. On the outside, not a single person, other than maybe Otoha, would be able to tell, and on the inside only one person knew as well. The thought hadn't even Processed to Ian yet. If he were to think back he would realize that his first few concious thoughts had happened just after obtaining his third tail. It was then that the Hachibi's chakra had become so strong that it had taken control of Ian, and in the process begun converting every chakra around it into internal energy. Ian's own chakra wasn't immune to this, but hte smaller amount of chakra that was used to control him, that was easier to erode, easier to break away, and so it was.

The change wasn't complete of course, he still had traces of the brainwashing, the mental conditioning, but the emotions that had been locked away, the fear, the anger, the happiness, they had all returned, slowly at first, but by this time they were all there.

What did that mean though? what did that mean in regards to this currnet moment?

It meant he was pissed.

The barrage of weapons distracted him, causing Ian to lose focus for just a bit, but in that time his grip, the tiny chakra tendrils grip rather, loosened on his prey. His chakra cloak offered him almost no protection from the small weapons, slowing their momentum just slightly, but they were not chakra based attacks, so they were not in his realm of defense. The small canister of pepper fell under this same jurisdiction, and floated ever so gently into his eyes, causing a mixture of a scream and a roar to emanate from his mouth. It distracted him just enough that he dropped her, though the little arms continued to reach for her.

As his chakra arms were slowly hacked away, he was draining bits and pieces of Momona's chakra, but to the Hachibi it was nothing more than a snack, a crumb. He wanted more, much more, and the only place to get it was away from her. Retracting the arms he made to move, but another mass of chakra, this time many many little ones were approaching at a high speed. It seemed that his opponent had noticed this as well, her face changing into a glare.

The pepper still burned and his actual eyes were on fire, but Bolt training had conditioned him to the feeling, if only ever so slightly. Oh how he wished he would have had on a BTM at the moment, but it was too late for that, he simply had to press on.

Shoving a hand into the very ground, he mimicked the Bolt ops previous attack, searching out Momona through the ground as she began conversing with the now materialized triplet of shinobi, their very chakra causing the Hachibi to salivate. ian could feel its will pushing on him, urging him to break off his attack on the girl in favor of the larger target, but Ian's own mind, now free, knew the implications of this. He would have to be much stronger to overtake that foe, and the only way to do that was to absorb as much chakra as he could.

*Pop*

Zip Zip Zip

A barrage of weapons came at him, their speed much more impressive than the girls, but Ian could feel them, he could feel each and every weapon, unlike the ones the girl had thrown at him. These were coated in chakra, like little candy suckers, and though they hurt, they pierced the veil and even reached into Ian's flesh, they had chakra, and that chakra could be absorbed. With every small group of weapons that flew to him, they penetrated less and less, his chakra shield growing stronger. Ian could feel the difference, but kept his smile to himself, instead simply allowing the barrage to continue.

He had almost reached Momona with his hand now, and just as he reached for her leg, the triplet of Tsuukis made some motion, and lifted the entire street he was on into the sky.

"Gotcha"

A final thrust saw his hands wrap around Momona, pulling her along for the ride. If he was going for a trip, he had to make sure to pack a snack.

"Hey... shits getting real rough out here... what do you say we just get out while we can?"

The voice of a gruff man was whispered down to his comrade, a younger man covered in tattoos who carried a sword covered in blood. His eyes looked to the man with questioning at first, but then loosened up.

"I was thinking the same thing, No point in fighting till we die, we already got paid."

The man chuckled and laughed as he walked through a demolished block, the inhabitants all either gone or dead. All but one it seemed. Within the rubble, bright red hair stood out like a fire, a bruised and battered body halfway burried. The tattooed man walked over, looking at it with curious eyes.

"Thats too bad, looks like this girl got trapped in the building before it went down. She was kind of cut... Hey, Ichiro, she's still breathing..."

Indeed, the girl was still alive, her body bruised and battered, and parts of it broken, but she was clinging on to life as best as she could. Her eyes were closed, every last bit of her energy going to simply breathing and keeping her heart pumping. She had been slipping in and out of consciousness for a while now, but the voices brought her back just enough for her green eyes to open up. She could see two shapes, but her vision was clouded beyond detail. Just theknowledge that two people were there was enough. They would save her, they had to. She passed out again, clinging to that thought.

"I think we should take her with us, she doesn't look like she'll put up much of a fight. Plus you always said you wanted to try a redhead."

The pair began digging her out of the rubble, her small curvaceous body causing the mens hearts to beat wildly and their loins to rage with hormones. Their minds sank to the most devious of thoughts as the gruff man placed the girl over his shoulders. They would make their way out of the chaos f the vilalge in silence, abandoning their duty for the wiles of men.

"Oh, and since I'm carrying her, I get to go first."

"KEEP MOVING! KUMO NIN, TO ME!"

Blades flashed, blood splattered, and Raika led her charges ever forward through the chaos, taking a mix of paths that would take them out of danger and what would get them to their destination as quickly as possible....

Instinct warned her, feet slamming into the side of the tower and launching her towards them without heed for her own safety... she would live, that was all.

Pushing the limits of her weakened body, willpower overriding and mocking the newly regenerated muscles and bones, entering the zone of blood and death.

She ducked, spun, kicking Ryuuchi-san's arm skywards with all the force she could muster, a second twist catching herself on all fours before she rose, blank, dulled sapphire staring down blood red as tears ever-flowed, her voice lifeless and bland.

"Shouldn't you be with Raika?"

She had run into danger, she knew. Less from Ryuuchi-san and more from the man she had once trusted with her life.

But, if she had judged Kiyoshi-san properly... perhaps her gamble would work out.

Aoi immediately fell silent, abruptly withdrawing as she continued her dance of evasion, still following the man.

She'd annoyed him....

But... hopefully she'd be able to get answers out of him eventually. Maybe even be taught by him.

Another white-haired samurai, closer to her age, this one gray-eyed... and with two swords, just like the man she had bandaged. From one glance, what injuries he had gotten was generally minor, nothing that couldn't heal without attention.

She nodded once in greeting to him, only to pause and crouch, closing another corpse's eyes and whispering a short prayer before following after the samurai she had bandaged again.

All it would take was patience, she was sure of it.

Ryuhou cracked his neck from side to side, taking notice as his master approached. Noticing the girl following shortly behind, he frowned, a burst of Hunting sweeping the area. A definite response of spiritual energy, however faint... an Onigami, then? Likely untrained. She didn't seem like she was any older than the child he had once taken as an apprentice... and definitely out of place in the middle of a war zone. An odd coincidence, to be sure.

"Let's go," he said with a short nod, agreeing with Ichigo's statement. "This wasn't worth the trip."

He grinned widely, razor-sharp teeth glinting in the moonlight as Ryuuchi took the bait, approached without the slightest bit of caution. The preceding attack, the one that had stunned his body, had been unexpected, the pain almost all-consuming... but it was something he could work with, if it meant his opponent grew over-confident. Throughout the battle, Otoha had continued to divert a constant stream of scales along his body and into the ground, transforming the battlefield into an array of traps entirely under his control. As Ryuuchi approached, Otoha made no moved to dodge; it would come down to a single attack. If his attack landed first, Ryuuchi would surely be destroyed, likewise if he was too slow, he'd lose his head.

Omoi's frantic intrusion, however, her effort to divert the decapitating blow to save her beloved, that wasn't part of the plan either. Still... it would work.

From behind Omoi, at Otoha's feet in a position blocked to Ryuuchi's gaze by Omoi's own form, a colossal spike would tear free of the earth, a mass of scales woven together with the intent of tearing through Ryuuchi's own scales through sheer force. In the current situation, it would hit Omoi in the small of her back, emerge from her chest, and continue on to spear Ryuuchi at center-mass as well, obliterating most of his organs in one fell swoop.

Acceptable.

Kiyoshi's head turns at the sudden lust he felt, not something that should be on a battlefield. While he was distracted Omoi moved, heading for the battle. He sighs, holding his hands at waist level, almost like he was resting them on something. Beneath his hands two large wolf-like creatures form, then after a nod from Kiyoshi, they were gone, rushing towards their objective.

A moment and a few handsigns later, Kiyoshi was wearing armor. He jumps a few times, making sure that he could move correctly with it on, then was suddenly behind Omoi, easily pushing the spear of scales out of the way. He glances behind him, making eye cotact with Ryuuchi. "Leave." Kiyoshi turns back to Otoha. "I suggest you leave too, I'm not in a good mood today." He crosses his arms, waiting.

Some distance away, the two creatures finally spot their prey, moving easily from tree to tree as they follow, waiting for the girl to be put down before they strike.

The sounds of heavy footsteps drifted off into nothingness as the two large creatures made their way through the few bits of wood that remained towards the southern exit of what once was Kumo. Though the majority of the forest had been spared, there were large swaths cut out, from years of war and disaster, and from using this less than perfect wood for construction. That left many paths and routes that the two bandits could have chosen, but it didn't matter which one they chose, because their persuers simply moved off the beaten path, making their way to them with the utmost haste.

Without much downtime the two creatures caught up to the two men, but instead of attacking, they simply hid in the shadows, silent and without a presence that the two men could detect. they were oblivious to their approaching fate, their lives shortening with each passing minute. Still, they pressed on, through theforest, trying to make it as far as possible away from the doomed village. They had a place in mind that they would go, and were discussing what they would do with their money, the money that they had stashed there. They talked about the weird shit that they had seen, the magic of shinobi and all that, and finally, as the rays of light began to crest over the horizon, they began to talk about the day and what they would do with it.

"They say its better in the morning, ya know, right after you wake up. We didn't just wake up, but it is morning..."

The men chuckled as they walked, jostling Osen a bit more than anyone would a person in her condition, but that's not why they brought her along. They didn't bring her to heal her, to take her to a hospital, to even make sure that she would be okay. No, they had no concern for her well being, they just wanted her body, they just wanted her flesh, her innocence.

The urge was just to great to wait though. Just too great. Finding a clearing, the two men dropped the body and it landed with a thud, Osen's head bouncing on the ground as roughly as possible. The skinnier of men quickly ripped her top off, reaching down to lick her form, his sword stuck in the ground casually, her unconsciousness warranting his lack of concern. The larger man stood with his back to them, glancing over his shoulder to check out her body. The creepy smile on their faces was the devils own work, their minds and morals corrupted beyond reason.

It was in this moment that the creatures that had been stalking them chose to strike. They came out of nowhere, from the shadows and the light, from everywhere, Once tackling the larger man without hesitation, distracting the younger man from his task. As he turned his head, the other creature came from his blind side, mouth wrapping around his throat and ripping through it with no hesitation at all. His body tumbled across the clearing, painting it with a streak of crimson as his head popped clean off, floating in the air for a moment before landing in a tree branch, the shocked look still etched on his face. The second man stood more of a chance, his warriors instincts kicking in at the last second, his body moving just enough to avoid the throat strike. Still, the beast had toppled him, and the vicious bites rendered his arms into shreds, tearing the skin from bone until he tried punching the beast, Only to find his very life essence was being sapped, his strength, his will, everything. The second beast made his way over, attacking the mans leg, shredding it as well until it got down to the bone. One had an arm, one had a leg, and the man was defenseless,

They pulled.

His screams echoed across the forest, startling the birds in the trees, causing them to flee in a large flock. His innards, intestines, stomach, all of that lay across the ground, the two beasts circling his halves, seemingly feeding on them, but in fact sucking the almost meaningless amount of chakra from him. paw prints of blood marked their path as they made it over to the girl. She was bleeding, but she was breathing. Each creature laid next to her, laid like small dogs, nestling up to her, warming her, passing the two men's chakras to her almost empty reserves, giving her body just the little kick it needed to stay in this world.

Then they all slept.

His arm was already in full swing, had Omoi hit it away with his lightning cloak and with the power it was moving at, she would not get out of it unscathed. The moment Ryuuchi noticed her step in their way his cloak deactivated, he immediately felt his body grow incredibly heavier and pain shot out from head to toe. What followed was not what he expected at all, Omoi had deflected his attack and Kiyoshi appeared out of nowhere with a sour look on his face...then again few were the time he had seen Kiyoshi with anything but that look.
One look at Omoi and it was painfully clear she wasn't in great condition, just the fact that she moved to block his attack was surprising considering her state and it confused Ryuuchi. If Kiyoshi was with her then it was likely he had healed her up, but the guy he had been fighting had most likely done something terrible to her, yet she was saving him from losing his head...there was obviously something else going on.

"Eh...pleasure to see you too, Kiyo."

He said moving his right hand up to massage his neck. His eyes shifted around a bit, moving from Omoi to Otoha, Kiyoshi and then back to Otoha.

"Whatever you wanna do...fine I'll let you. But keep in mind that this prick left the hospital in that state and killed plenty of people..."

He wasn't really one to talk, given his background...Otoha's murder list was a joke compared to some of the stuff he had done in the past, but still it was something he wanted to point out and make clear to Omoi, who was always such a good little Kumo nin. However something in her eyes told him that she wasn't even thinking about that, not even close...so he decided to just add something else.

"Just know this, if he lives and I see him again..."

He didn't finish with words, instead he signaled with his thumb, making a quick line over his neck...a signal just as much to Omoi as it was to the guy he had been fighting.
He said nothing else, simply turning around and looking for traces of known chakra in the visible area. Normally Ryuuchi would never leave Omoi alone there with that guy, but with Kiyoshi around there wasn't really much need to worry. He moved out of their way, casually walking away while massaging his neck and masking the pain all over his body with a bored expression. In a way he was glad they showed up, had his attack missed he didn't know how much longer his body would hold up...he was already tasting cooper yet had no injury in his mouth, his organs must have taken quite the beating.

A pause in the combat, rapid handsigns, and a spark clone of the sennin formed, shooting off away from the group.

Raika moved ahead, glancing around at the way her enemies now fled from her blood-spattered form rather than assuming the mednin to be easy prey. It was just another deterrent to keep her charges safe. A glance behind her showed that the stranger who had brought the mednin had been doing well guarding the rear, earning her approval in the way he protected everyone so well, helping up those who had fallen....

She looked forward again, and they had arrived at the entrance of the Research Department. Her blades flicked outwards, releasing blood in a sharp spray to leave only gleaming steel before she sheathed them, opening the door and stepping in, her charges following behind, blood dripping on clean white tile.

A man sat behind the desk in the entrance room, the door leading beyond clearly visible, no protections for the clerk himself... they'd gotten more lax on their defenses ever since the new Head replaced the missing Souzen. Looked like everything was still soundproofed to keep the researchers from being disturbed, though.

And the lessened security just made her job easier.

"Watch the doors. Everyone stay together, take a chance to rest, we'll be moving again soon." And then Raika was vaulting over the startled clerk's desk, lightly brushing him aside to get on his computer despite his protests, rapidly typing away the codes Souzen had given her so long ago, still fresh in her photographic memory.

The lights dimmed, the door opened, and the quiet sounds of movement whispered from within.

"Let's go. You, too, the village is under attack."

The group entered the hall, she leading, moving at a swift pace into the belly of the department, calm researchers joining their group, glimpses of the rooms they came from oddly empty as the researchers tucked scrolls into their pockets.

"Raika-san, I demand to know on what authority you've broken into my Department like this! Shouldn't you take patients to your own Department?"

A short, gray-haired man fumed, obviously older than her, a nervous habit pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose as he trembled like a small dog, watery blue eyes glaring up at her.

"I would, but the Hospital blew up. And if you paid any attention to the emergency channels, you'd know Kumo is under severe attack. On whose authority do I come here? Who do you think gave me the codes to get in here, to start the evacuation processes? Souzen gave me full permission to access this Department in the case of an emergency where Kumo itself needed to be evacuated. Now move, Aomaru."

And Raika brushed by the man as he silently raged, pride blocking his reason. It was a pity that such a man was the one to replace Souzen, but he was the only one capable enough in terms of skill... if not temperament.

Deeper into the complex, into the zones deep underground that the public never even knew of, their group swelling in size the deeper they went....

Barriers went down with simple passwords typed into wall-accesses, the chamber growing more musty, seeming as if it had been only lightly used; a section forbidden entry except by those with specific clearance... not even the current Head new what lay beyond, and he watched Raika suspiciously the deeper they went.

A steel door was at the end of the hall, and Raika opened it smoothly, entering metal corridors that echoed with their steps.

"Close the door behind us," she called back, listening in satisfaction as the sound of the door closing properly reached her.

The halls twisted and turned, and pupiless blue eyes sought out a single chakra signature--only to find three, and she sighed softly with relief before a slight smile formed on her lips as she stopped at a wall terminal, typing away on the holographic keyboard that appeared before her.

A small trail of lights appeared in midair, repetitively moving deeper into the labyrinth.

"Follow those lights to the living quarters, you're all free to choose any room that doesn't already have a nameplate on it. Stay there, you'll be safe. Tsukiyo, you're in charge now, keep everyone calm, make sure they all get medical attention. I have other duties to attend to now."

"Yes, Raika-dono."

Brown eyes watched as the group moved on, Tsukiyo in the lead, before a gentle hand caught the arm of the stranger from before, Michio.

"Thank you for your help.... Please, look after them for a little longer, and rest. You'll be able to leave whenever you wish after we've dealt with this crisis."

A warm smile graced her lips before she lightly pushed the boy after the others, watching him leave before she turned back to the terminal, opening a comm link to Fei's storage chamber.

"Saint Ahiru, good to see you're alright. Koromi, I'll start up the rest of the functions shortly, what's Tsuuki got in mind for this mess?"

A quick press of the buttons and she retrieved a small communicator from an opened panel in the wall, shutting it as she attached the device to her ear, darting off through the maze of familiar metal hallways, navigating through them as if they were the hallways of her own home.

It was only a matter of moments at top speed before she reached her destination, opening the door with a few quick keystrokes before entering an oddly bare, well-lit room, the only thing within being a cocoon-like seat with a small control panel beside it.

A few quick keystrokes opened the glass casing before she sat down, adjusting herself comfortably and discarding the communicator to the side before settling her arms on the armrests, closing her eyes as she channeled chakra through the pads at her fingertips to connect to the mainframe.

Wake up.

The dim lighting of the hallways brightened, low, thrumming noises signalling the awakening of various electronics and systems throughout the structure.

She greeted it like an old friend, sensing a pulse of recognition from the systems before she extended the range of the sensors like her own eyes and ears, studying the read-out before displaying the image for Koromi and Saint Ahiru, a new voice, similar to Raika's and yet different, now coming from the screens.

"Ship functions engaged. Current power levels render movement impossible."

Raika's spark clone darted through the battlefield, evading all combat, lightly glowing and ever moving as it sought out its destination.

There.

It darted up to the bloodied, red-haired, red-eyed man, still moving and vibrating even as it stood before him. He'd gotten away from the battle in one piece, if not a bit worse for wear.

"Put your Henge back on and rally every Kumo nin you can, love. They need to be evacuated. I'll lead the way to Sanctuary. The real Raika's already there, waiting for you."

The clone smiled, a glowing hand coming just close enough to his cheek for him to feel the tingle of its electricity before she turned, leading the way.

She scented overturned earth and her beloved's scales... it was a good sneak attack, but took a little too much effort to make. Was good for punching a lethal hole in an enemy, though, from the way the air whistled when it passed through before impacting with something.... Kiyoshi-san stood behind her, blocking the attack without injury.

Her gamble had worked out, and she had survived.

Ryuuchi-san threatened Otoha's death if he ever saw him again, but she doubted it would happen easily.

Omoi turned, looking past her protector to her attacker and beloved, eyes still blank and emotionless, tears still flowing.

"Raika could never have healed that injury, you know," she commented calmly, as if she didn't care. It didn't really matter now, anyway, since she had survived. If Kiyoshi-san hadn't come, though, she would have died or lived a half-life, forever trapped.

And as sapphire eyes stared into black, she was reminded of her nightmares, of all-consuming darkness, and a hint of dry humor entered her thoughts.

She really should have seen all of this coming.

An almost careless shrug, as soon as the wave of pain binding his limbs passed.

"You don't look very dead to me."

As he watched her tears fall, he felt nothing; not regret, not pride in that he had caused them, no sadistic pleasure: nothing. Townsaver's fury abated by his opponent's retreat, Otoha waved a hand, gathering up his storm of swords with another jet of wind chakra and re-sealing them in the case on his back. Eyes of jet passed from Omoi to Kiyoshi, darkening to a deep, coal-color, cut through by rings of topaz; the brown forever lost. A rush of wind, and a spiral of dark energy wrapping about his form, and he was gone.

Hardly ten minutes later, at the peak of the mountain overlooking the village, he reappeared. Slung over his shoulder, supported by the draconic arm, was a girl of about fifteen, brown hair blowing in the harsh winds. In his left hand, another detonator, similar to the one that it had started it all. He pressed the button, waited, counting under his breath. When he reached zero, the payload he had hidden throughout the Bolt HQ and barracks would detonate, the final signal in the battle. To those he had deceieveed, whose power he had stolen by way of false alliances, it would be a signal to press on with their final wave of reinforcements, to break the village or break themselves upon it. To the select few under his direct control, Ian included, the explosion of the HQ would serve as the final trigger in the program he had set upon each; a full retreat of exactly four individuals, each in a different cardinal direction. He would collect them later, and prepare.

For now, however, the Kuroryu merely vanished once more.

He floated ky high, propelled upwards by the massive amount of chakra his new opponent was manipulating. Something felt familiar about the man's chakra though. Something Deja Vu ish, and yet he couldn't tell why. Sure, he knew exactly who he was up against, he knew exactly what kind of threat the man posessed, and yet there was something else about him, like him having known the man in a past life or something.

Below, chaos still reigned supreme, with the remainder of the ground forces doing their best to obliterate the defenses of Kumo. Both sides were dwindling, the sheer number taking out the shinobi of the cloud, though individual stars shone bright, lighting the fires of morale in the survivors. A few good men and women still fought on, trying to protect their home, but their efforts would prove rather futile, the sheer magnitude of the attack still unchecked.

Slowly, Ian pulled enough chakra from tsuuki's weapons to regain some sort of hold on himself, to move from pure defense to at least the confidence to try and think of a counter attack. The girl that was in his grasp was being drained as well, though her chakra was only a drop in a bucket. What he wanted was a direct line to the man who was attacking him. He wanted that mans chakra for his own.

He needed it.

*Kabooom*

Another dazzling flash of light, burst of sound, and wave of pressure tore through the village, another explosion erupting within the walls. Something about the explosion seemed... planned. Ian knew it was going to happen, he had a feeling, and almost without hesitation, he let out a powerful roar, disrupting the chakra around him long enough to give him a moment of freedom, and jumped from the ascending meteor of earth and pavement. He was sure the attacking bat weapons would no doubt follow him, but he was compelled to get away.

He fell, fell and fell and fell, wind rushing around him, a pitch black missile descending against the early morning sky. He had no idea how he would survive the fall, his mind was too frantic. Something had snapped within him and memories ebbed and flowed all through his mind, faces, sounds, words, instructions, darkness, and then repeated. The internal struggle between his mind, his bijuu's mind, and the foreign chakra that still lingered in his mind was more than distracting. It was maddening. He couldn't even piece together who he really was, he had no idea which personality was truly his. Was it the greed, was it the ruthless destroyer, or was it the thoughtful protector.

Who was he.

For a moment he blacked out, the mental stress too great, but just as suddenly he was reawoken by a hard hit into something solid. As his eyes opened he still felt like he was falling, but it was a little slower, just a tad bit. Below him, blue scales were the first thing he saw, followed by a layer of black quickly covering them, pulling the chakra away from whatever it was. Shaking his head a little he could finally tell what was happening.

He had hit a dragon.

It dropped, spiraling downwards as the reptile lost consciousness briefly, but Ian pulled back his chakra leeching abilities, and after a frightening few seconds, the beast at last it righted itself, straightening its wings and flying forward. Figuring out which end was the front, Ian moved, shifting his weight an balancing, attaching himself with a layer of chakra for extra measure. Finally realizing it had an unwarranted passenger, the dragon began to move and twirl, to spin and dive trying to shake him off, but Ian stayed attached as best as he could.

He was riding that dragon to freedom.
