Lightning and Flame (Ryuuchi)

She was being pursued nearly ever since crossing the border, three of them, and they were pretty good. Somehow they were managing to keep on her trail, despite her even taking to the skies for a bit. Was one of them a sensor type?

No, she sensed no such thing from any one of them, yet still they had been managing to keep to her trail. Interesting...

She considered her options, she didn’t want these guys on her tail, nor was she interested in having them popping out at the wrong time complicating things. She had her mission and the last thing she needed was these guys getting in the way...

She could amp up her pace, out run them, but that wouldn’t lose them, eventually with whatever means it was that they were tracking her, and when she found her target and was finally done moving about, they would eventually catch up, and a dangerous situation could turn infinitely more so. She also considered using a shadow clone, but again without knowing how they were tracking her there could be no way to be sure a clone would work and she’d be right back at zero... No, she would need to take them out, quick and straight forward, it was the only way to be sure...

Leaping out of the bush out onto open fields, this would be where she’d set up her ambush. Coming to a stop and turning towards the direction she sensed her pursuers coming from, she sat in a near meditation like position with her hands coming together before her. She’d wait for them here.

Hours passed while Akemi remained unmoving where she sat, her body near motionless aside from her steady rhythmic breathing. Her three pursuers had hesitated while still under cover in the nearby tree lines for a while before electing to finally come out to face her fearing that finding her out here in the open might prove to be some kind of trap, but eventually they came out into the open. Drawing their swords, they slowly began making their way towards her.

Unfortunately their earlier fear and worry would soon prove to be justified.

One slow step after the next they approached, weapons to the ready, yet she did not move or react. Closer and closer they crept, yet still she remained at rest and silent, until suddenly, as the group closed to within 15 feet of her, she gave them the first meaningful sing of life, her eyes opened and focused right at them.

What happened next was as a blur. A rock, a simple looking stone, suddenly burst into the form of a person, one identical to the woman sitting before them, but none of the three had the time to register that, by the time they turned towards the clone, it had already leapt into the air in a whirlwind of motion, delivering kick after kick after kick, taking out all three men before any of them could raise their weapon, before finally once again her feet again touched the ground only to vanish in a trail of smoke.

Akemi, the real one, rose to her feet, and walked over to the three now unconscious figures of her pursuers, bringing her hands together again to form a set of seals, she touched her right palm on each of the men’s bodies marking them with a seal that near instantly seemed to fade from sight. Said seal would bind them when they awoke, and would keep them bound for a time, long enough for her to move clear of them, and of course could be reactivated by her with a simple hand seal if she sensed them again on her heels.

With the three out of the way, she set out after her targets once more. Someone had attacked several villages in Fire country, as well as several other nations along the coast, and now they were here, in the lands of Lightning, and she was going to find them.

Gaining access to Kumo had become a complicated issue, all roads going into the village had checkpoints with several samurai in each and getting through one such checkpoint was particularly difficult for a ninja ever since Kumo got its new management, even if that ninja was officially retired and no longer held any allegiance with a hidden village. But the samurai didn't care, all they ever paid attention to was your identification and paperwork, which unless expertly forged would grant a poor bastard a one way trip to the slammer.

And for those reasons Daisuke decided to screw the rules and sneak into the village through one of the large forest areas. His reasons for going to Kumo were quite simple, during the few months he taught taijutsu and summoning techniques there, he had come to know and befriend a few people and after the mess that occurred in the village he simply wanted to see if everyone was doing fine. Part of the reason was also due to boredom, they say retirement was all about relaxing but after doing that for long enough the complete and utter soul crushing boredom begins to set in and the only way to deal with it is by moving your ass and doing something, anything.

Unfortunately things didn't go quite as predicted, despite being a ninja, a so called warrior of the shadows...Daisuke was never the stealthiest bloke out there, by a long shot. So he was found and questioned by two samurai in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees, honestly it was quite formidable how they found him in the middle of nowhere but he had heard those samurai had some odd energy sensing ability hardwired into their brains.

"I and I keep tellin yah, I be a medic."

It was the truth, he was officially recognized as a Suna medic nin at one point and was still quite the expert of the art, he even offered to help one of the samurai with a crippled arm he seemed to have but was instantly refused and they nearly drew their blades on him as if insulted.
But then suddenly out of nowhere a crossbow bolt dug straight into one of the samurai's heads and the samurai's body just fell over already devoid of life, no amount of healing could cure such a would. However it didn't stop there, the moment the bolt struck the first samurai, the second was stabbed in the back by a man that dropped down from the tree next to Daisuke and the others while another man tried to do the same for Daisuke, yet failed as he quickly side-stepped and grabbed a hold of the man's hand. From that point on, the assassin was trapped as Daisuke pressed on the back of his hand, bent it while twisting the wrist and the man quickly released the blade in his hand and dropped to one knee, groaning in pain.

But the lock didn't last long, another crossbow bolt was shot from the cover of the trees aimed at Daisuke's head which was narrowly avoided with a jump backward. The moment his feet touched the ground however, the other assassin had already reached him and aimed to stab his blade through Daisuke's neck. His body relaxed and his weight shifted as his body spun around, avoiding the blade and striking the assailant at the same time with a backhand to the face. Yet, the attackers were relentless and organized, after Daisuke's fist struck the man and made him stagger to the side it was revealed to Daisuke that the one that was in his simple lock before had already gotten to his feet and charged straight at him with his knife. The knife aimed to cut Daisuke from top to bottom but like before he almost lazily looking spun around it, but unlike last time he did not strike the guy's face but rather under his armpit followed by another hit to the chest and a final one to the side of the head, a push and a skip away ended the combination.

The man struck under the armpit staggered around for a few steps and grabbed a hold of his comrade's clothing, it seemed like his balance was completely shot as he dropped to his knees and would have fallen further if not for his "friend's" support. The man lifted his head and tried to speak but every word that came out of him was incredibly slurred and unrecognizable until he finally just dropped to the ground, face first.

"Boi's heart shud be stoppin any secon naw, yah shud give im CPR."

Daisuke was not lying, the points he had struck were dangerous, the first and second made his heart rate plummet, also giving him nausea and impaired his brain function, the third just sealed the deal by removing him of nearly all control over his body and hindering his breathing. Immediate CPR would help him stay alive but that meant stopping their attack on Daisuke, the man was good and the team seemed quite skilled and organized but they were having problems handling him when all three were active so it was counter productive to try with just two while the third was dying. The man signaled to the "sniper" after coming to a decision, lifted his colleague and rushed out of sight quite quickly, the fact that he could make such quick analysis of the situation also told Daisuke that they were probably part of some highly trained group.

But one thing was certain, something dangerous was going on, that attack wasn't random, they were clearly trying to eliminate guards in the less populated area and Daisuke wasn't sure if he wanted to get mixed up in more trouble.

The trail had unexpectedly pulled away from the shore the day before, taking her deeper into Lightning country than she would have liked, those men that had been tracking her a few days back, she had come across others like them, they seemed all over the place, particularly along the roads, and each seemed to be able to sense her somehow even at great distances, they were beginning to prove difficult circumvent and it was slowing her pace, but she had little choice if she wanted to avoid them, and so far so good, she had managed to steer clear enough from their patrols to hide her presence, the last thing she needed was attracting the attentions of these samurai, and finding herself hunted by them in the heart of their own territory.

To think of all that had changed here, not so unlike what had happened in her own home country but in many ways worse, Kumo, like Konoha had fallen to turmoil and chaos, It’s once proud Shinobi scattered to the winds, unlike the Shinobi of Konoha however, who had returned to their old pre hidden village ways, the Nin of Kumo were outcast and forbidden their ways and arts. How much harsher it must be for them, to be Pariahs in their own lands...

Wait... coming across a clearing, she recognised it... She knew this place, she had been here before many years ago with Long Fei, he had brought her to these woods once during a mission she had been assigned here, the finger like stones protruding neat that tree, he had showed her those, had called them the missing hand. She was closer to Kumo than she had thought, had those she was chasing truly come this far north and inland? Strange, most of their attacks thus far had been close to the coast, close to the sea, in fact from witness accounts she had heard, some attacks had come from ships... What was bringing them this deep into Lightning territory?

Coming to a stop atop a tree branch some 30 feet off the ground, Akemi formed a single handed seal and activated her Byakugan, immediately projecting her sight forward kilometers out, her gaze came upon Kumo and what it had become, Samurai patrols peppered all around it, but they weren’t the only ones to be seen, there were others, particularly of interest to her were the small group attempting to go unnoticed, creeping along roof tops and brush, they were obviously not samurai, and their chakras lacked the telltale signs of shinobi training, but most revealing were their colors, there was something odd about them, something different, something that stood out from the norm, she couldn’t quite explain it, but it was unmistakable, that small group, they were part of those she was after.

”Damn it”

Of all the places to find these guys she thought, right there surrounded by those Samurai. Who knew what kind of chaos could erupt if she confronted them there, how long before the Samurai came rushing in and all hell broke loose. She could wait of course, wait for them to move out and away from Kumo, away from others and possible complications, but waiting had its own risks... of her getting detected and chased again, forcing here away, or the other way with her prey being captured by the Samurai and having them slip into a far more difficult place to grab them from... Anything could happen, and she had come too far and too long to risk losing these guys, the first among them she had thus far found in any condition to talk.

No, she wouldn’t let them slip away... A rapid set of seals as she let herself fall from the branch, Akemi suddenly seemed to fade into smoke as she plummeted towards the ground below, only to then reform in the shape of a Hawk outstretching its wings swiftly shooting upwards and atop the tree line on a straight paths right towards Kumo.

In this form she could reach up to of 110km and hour in a straight line flight, at that speed it would take a dozen or so minutes for her to reach the former hidden Shinobi village. She lowered her chakra flow as much as she could in this form in hopes of minimising detection by the Samurai, but she couldn’t be sure that would work, she honestly had no idea how there senses worked or if it was even chakra at all that they detected, still if she could avoid them getting involved too quickly than the easier it would be to capture those guys.

She was about a 2 Kilometers out when another chakra caught her attention, it was one she thought she had seen before, most definitely a Shinobi by its smoother flow, and surrounded by Samurai it seemed, and the group she was after was sneaking straight for them. Still a Kilometer away when their attack started, First the Samurai went down and then... The Shinobi among those ambushed was proving far more skilled. Still half a Kilometer away when the first of her prey went down, she began to worry that that Shinobi might kill them all before she could get to them! She needed at least one of them alive!

What happened next was unexpected, the attackers, those men she was after, withdrew, allowed to do so by the Shinobi they had attacked. Taking their fallen comrade the group affected their retreat, leaping back atop nearby roofs and past a building corner, her relief that they still lived was short lived however, replaced by confusion as said group was suddenly enveloped by a blinding light and before her Byakukan vanished into thin air!

”What?! Son of a... How?!” How could they vanish from these eyes, eyes that could see through the world itself...

Shifting her flight path to a near dive, she rushed past the now lone standing Shinobi and burst back into human form, somersaulting in the air before landing on her feet some 15 feet from him staring in the direction his attackers had escaped to.

Vanished... That was disappointing.

Taking in a deep breath and exhaling she lowered her gaze for a moment before finally turning towards the lone Shinobi. She had been right earlier, she did know this man, from years back, when she and Kaguya Kai had aided Suna recapture an escaped Shukaku. His name however eluded her, she couldn’t remember if he had even ever told it to her back then.

Still...

”Long way from the desert.” She said a bit dryly with a slight nod to him. Her prey had escaped but perhaps this desert Nin might prove to hold knowledge of them.

Seeing the white-eyed ninja brought back unwanted memories, the whole bijuu ordeal ended up costing him greatly and though she personally had nothing to do with the loss, she was still present at that time...it was for the same reason that his interactions with Noriko has greatly diminished since that time as seeing her face reminded him of the pain of losing a brother. Daisuke was always perceived as laid back, perhaps too laid back even since those that did not know him called him things like sloth and slacker, like he was some kind no good leech that hitched a ride on the shoulders of giants, never having to work seriously for his former position. They were wrong, they were all so very wrong but he never bothered to correct them, it was a pointless waste of time as he knew exactly what he was and what he had done and that was more than enough.

But those were stories and memories for another time, what mattered was the present. What mattered was the fact that he and the new guardians of Kumo were attacked by a group of very skilled assassins, that two samurai lay dead not far from him and the group had vanished...and finally that a Konoha ninja showed up quite coincidentally right after they left. And not just any ninja, even if he hadn't known who she was, just the way she carried herself was enough to tell him all he needed to know about her, that she was strong, maybe even stronger than him and before knowing her goals he had to keep his guard up.

His body relaxed remarkably quickly, his arms hung loose by his sides, his knees bent slightly and his back arched forward only a couple of inches. To anyone else he looked like an ill-mannered slacker who's parents had done a horrible job at teaching proper posture but in truth it was a stance, a dangerous martial art stance which he had mastered. It made him look non-threatening and unprepared but in truth no opening was left and his relaxed body was ready to react in an instant to any form of aggression.

"Let I an I ghes, yah lukin feh a group of gaiz. Thiz tall, odd lukin and wit a bad habit feh ki..."

His words were cut short by a noise in the distance, he could hear the sounds of multiple people heading in their direction. He doubted it was the same group that attacked him as they vanished not long before while carrying an injured comrade, however they were close enough to Kumo to warrant another, very possible, guess.
A large group of samurai headed their way as fast as their feet could take them and they weren't searching around the area, they was they moved seemed like they were making a perfect B-line in their direction. Their energy sensing abilities were difficult things to avoid, not even he knew how to cloak himself from them seeing as he didn't even know what exactly they sensed...so there was only one thing to do.

No words, no signals, nothing...Daisuke simply turned around and ran in the opposite direction of the incoming samurai.

"Let I an I ghes, yah lukin feh a group of gaiz..."

...

Akemi’s brow furled slightly, She had forgotten how oddly he had spoken when they had last met, but it suddenly came back to her. She wasn’t sure if it was some kind of accent , speech impediment or who knew what, but it did make him a bit difficult to understand unless she paid close attention to his words...

"Thiz tall, odd lukin and wit a bad habit feh ki..."

His sentenced cut short by the sounds of distant foot falls, Akemi turned towards the direction they were coming from for a moment as the Suna Shinobi bolted for it. She could sense 6 of them, Samurai without a doubt, and none of them were sensor types in the usual way Shinobi were from what she could tell yet they seemed to know exactly where the two shinobi were and were coming straight towards them.

Ughh, she would have liked to have been able to inspect the area a bit closer to identify exactly how the group of men she was after had vanished, she had seen no chakra spike when it happened, no shift in their chakra flows at all yet somehow they had just snapped out of existence before her without giving sign of how... As much as taking a closer look at the area was tempting, the Samurai that ruled these lands seemed to have other ideas and under the circumstances it would be far too dangerous to stick around.

With a last glance and a deep breath Akemi turned back towards the direction Daisuke was retreating, she formed a short set of seals and placed her palm onto the ground before her before leaping atop a large silver colored Hawk summoned before her, a quick tap to its back and they were off shooting after Daisuke.

Catching up to him, Zandra came to fly along the running Nin with Akemi seated on her back close enough for the Hyuuga’s voice to be heard by the Suna Nin.

“To answer your question, yes, i am after a group of guys, and yes it’s the ones that attacked you.”

Pausing long enough for Zandra to dodge a tree and reposition herself along Daisuke once more.

“Nicely done by the way, that was some impressive footwork...” The compliment was sincere, Akemi was a Taijutsu practitioner first and foremost, it was her art, and despite her own pride, even to the point of arrogance at times, and her certitude with her own skills she had no problems appreciating skill in others nor of openly saying so.

”I’ve been following them for a quite some time now, all the way from the southern fire country coast, they’ve been attacking towns and settlements along the sea working their way north up to lightning country...”

“This was the first time any of them has come so far inland though from what i can tell, even in a small group like that, and it’s the first time they’ve gone after individuals rather than a towns or outpost... Any idea why they attacked you? Did they say anything to you?”

She was being rather direct, but then it wasn’t like any of this was secret or sensitive information, and after a couple of weeks of chasing, she was starting to get tire of running around, especially now that she was also having to dodge all these Samurai patrols and posts...

”Tell you what, why don’t you hop on, It’ll make it easier to talk, and we can drop you off somewhere safe away from here after...”

Her compliment just flew in one ear and out the other, Daisuke was much too focused on getting away from a major potential mess to bother with things of the sort, however he did pay attention to the information she provided him regarding the men from before.
If what she was saying was the truth then it could turn into a serious situations, a group like that attacking multiple points and spreading through multiple countries was either composed of hot heads with no knowledge of the sleeping tigers they were pocking or they were tigers themselves pretending to be small angry cubs to test the waters. Judging by the skill of the ones from before, Daisuke doubted they were just a bunch of barbarians simply performing hit-and-runs to ransack the area.

The problem with an outside force coming in and upsetting the already shaky and fragile balance the countries had found was that the smallest of things could cause all hell to break loose and the civilians would be the one paying the price. The question was, would Daisuke bother with such affairs? He had officially retired from the shinobi life because he was tired of it all, from the politics at the top to the backstabbing at the bottom of the food chain, he no longer felt like he owed even his village anything so leaving was the best choice. A life with no affiliation aside from what he considered family, his summons, was actually quite good, he was heavily criticized of course...someone of his rank, potential and past just leaving the village would always be frowned upon by others but anything he did would be met with heavy criticism anyway.

So should he even bother getting mixed up in such a mess or would it be better to move as far away from it as possible and go with the flow?

A sigh escaped him as he already knew what he would do and leaped on top of the summoned bird, accepting her invitation. Maintaining his balance even with the rapid movement of the hawk, Daisuke slowly dropped down to a crossed leg sitting position and scratched his head with a troubled look on his face. He hated his annoying moral code sometimes, it often went against his personality and wishes.

"I an I dun nuw nuttin 'sides dem be dread, mejah dread! Yah hea?"

They were indeed quite dangerous, it didn't look like it but the two samurai they eliminated would have easily devastated a chuunin level squad yet they were capable of taking them out before they even noticed it and on top of that, force him to dip into the darker side of his martial arts.

"Yah itah need a dham gud plan or an armeh, cause we be dead if yah dun."

The moment the sand Shinobi hopped on, Zandra shot upwards taking altitude up to several hundred meters before turning south.

Dread he said... That was an apt word, one of the villages that had been attacked one in which she had come across before local authorities had had time to pass and claim the fallen’s bodies, she had seen for herself the villagers all killed violently or, for those that had apparently survived the assault, executed systematically their throats slit, even the children. They had wanted to leave no witnesses.

"Yah itah need a dham gud plan or an armeh, cause we be dead if yah dun."

An Army... she had a feeling that that was what these raiders wanted to test, they wanted to see what kind of resistance they might run into, they wanted to see what kind of response they would get and how quickly they would get it. Or so she believed. After all, they took no booty, they did not plunder, they simply attacked and destroyed and then moved on, they had even on occasion left a small force back for a short period as if to invite rebuttal...

Perhaps that was why they had gone so far north him in Lightning country, here where the Samurai had taken over from Shinobi, here where with Samurai they would find the closest to a “standing Army” of any of the local maritime powers. Shinobi nations relied on unconventional strength, Shinobi forces rarely ever marched to meet their enemies face to face, doing so would undermine their particular arts and tactics, this could be deceptive to outsiders, to forces from abroad unaccustomed to such war methods, the Samurai however would more likely resemble at least to some degree the kind of military strength they were accustomed to, but she was just guessing and assuming here, there was no way of knowing what they were after until she could get her hands on one of them.

”I’m guessing an army is exactly what they are hoping to see.”

Her responce, without the context of her thought might have made no sense for him, but she seemed not to realise just yet. Indeed it took her a few minutes to pull herself out of her thoughts and back to the present, but finally she turned her attention towards Daisuke.

”Forgive me, I hope you’re not afraid of heights.” She said realising she hadn’t warned him that they would be reaching up this high into the night sky. ”Thought it best to try to get as far out of reach and out of sight possible before turning towards our destination. And hopefully far enough to be out of range of whatever sensing abilities they had.

”I had been tracking that unit that attacked you for several days, I had though a small force would be easier to attack in hopes of capturing someone to question than their main force would be.” Said main force, ship based, would be off at sea far south, likely now soon to strike at its next costal target. ”Obviously that didn’t work out though, I didn’t expect them to simply vanish like that.

”There’s a small town a few hours flight south from here. Yagara it’s called, half way to the cost. I passed through there a few nights ago, it had no samurai, nor did it seem to be along the path of any patrols, the locals told me they hadn’t seen a Samurai or shinobi in months. That’s where we’re heading, it should be safe, at least a good spot for you to start from where ever it is you’re going.”
She paused for a moment, hid words had almost sounded as if he had volunteered to go after these guys with her, but she didn’t want to assume. ”Of if you’re willing, you could join me south to the coast from there, I’m pretty sure these guys will be raiding villages and towns along the sea if they haven’t started already, it’s what they had been doing so far before reaching Lightning.”

He had said it himself, it would take a plan, or maybe even an army. Considering she doubted the Samurai would have any interest collaborating with her, or of even hearing her out, getting an army here on her side seemed unlikely, and thought the Samurai were more than capable of defending their lands once they set to the task, she suspected simply fending these attackers off would not be enough, if this was an advance force testing the waters for a larger assault than the best course for all countries would be to wipe every last one of those bastards out.

It very well might have to be done, and without that army she’d have to settle for a plan, "If you're willing to help, i'd welcome it."

Even after Akemi gave him a choice of either being dropped off at a safe location and walking away or joining her in taking care of troublesome individuals, Daisuke didn't really provide her a direct answer, not a verbal one at least. Instead his hands began searching for something inside his bag before finally taking out a notepad and pencil. The wind caused by the altitude and the summoned bird's speed made it a bit more complicated to draw on the notepad but in the end he was able to make an odd seal, it was similar to a summoning seal however it contained several major differences. Before turning back to Akemi, Daisuke made a handseal with the notepad between his hands and chakra swirled around them, being slowly injected into the white pages of the notepad and once done he simply handed it to her with a nod.

"Theah be sumetin I an I wan tah do befoa givin yah an answah. Tekah thiz wit yah, I an I be gud heah."

And without another word Daisuke simple stood up and skipped up, his body behind left behind by the large bird and being embraced by the sweet and sour grip of gravity and making him fall down through the air at high speeds. However, before his body reached even the trees bellow he made a quick string of handseals and thrust his hand into the air in front of him, a seal appeared for a split second and Daisuke was engulfed by a puff of smoke, vanishing immediately.

In another place, a place far from the Lightning Country and the worries of samurai and invading outsiders, Daisuke appeared with a puff of smoke. While the sudden appearance of the white haired man did scare a few white rats roaming around the small dark and damp stone room, they immediately recognized him and took at as a normal occurrence. A little white rat floated down from the ceiling and landed on Daisuke's head, on its back was a drawing of the same seal Daisuke had made on the notepad he handed Akemi a few seconds earlier. Daisuke simply scratched the little rat behind the ear and asked her where the "grandpa" was, as a response the little rat guided started floating into the air once again and guided him further into the dark building.

A few hours passed since Daisuke had leaped from Akemi's summoned bird and vanished. Suddenly the seal on the notepad's page began to glow a faint blue and instantly grew about one meter in diameter. A second after the seal enlarged in the middle of the air there was a puff of smoke from where Daisuke stepped out, hands in his pocket, a smaller bag on his back, a pair of really short tonfa hanging from his belt and a little white rat almost invisible as it rested on his white hair.

"I wil help."

I have a sticking fear that i should have proof read this post lol, if its all confusing or messed up let me know, i'll fix it.

....

Well that was one of the more interesting exits she had seen in some time. She had hesitated at first, wondering whether he was entirely well, or whether he was trying to kill himself, but a quick look upon the item he had handed to her and the seal he had marked upon it gave her some degree of insight into some of what he could do... A summon seal of some sort... huhh.

”No, let him fall, he’ll be fine.” She said in response to her Hawk’s inquiring screeches, watching with her Byakugan at his plummeting form as he formed a set of seals and vanished.

”Show’s over... Let’s get going”

The flight went smoothly enough with them reaching their destination within just under 2 hours, touching down a short distance from the town itself so as not to draw the type of attention some strange girl arriving riding atop a giant Hawk would bring, make the rest of the way on foot.

Once in town, she made her way into one of the local inns, the “Hodora” it was called, the same one she had stayed at the last time she had passed through. She’d be staying the morning at least, time enough for a few hours of shut eye, some breakfast and to check out the local rumors and such looking for any telltale signs of these raiders, anything to point her in their direction once again.

First thing was first though, that scroll, she had placed it on the floor in her room, opened and unfurled, with the young woman waited seated kneeling a few meters from it deep in meditation. When Daisuke appeared before her, her eyes opened and lifted to meet his gaze, with a slight smile on her lips she gave him a little bow to greet him.

"I wil help."

Her smile widened, she was pleased, having been uncertain whether he would come back or not, or when he might do so.

”Very well.” she said bowing once more ”Head out and down the stairs, you’ll find a steakhouse right next door, that’s where you’ll find me. I’ll be waiting.

With a last little smile the Akemi before him vanished in a burst of smoke, revealing herself as having been but a shadow clone left behind to wait by the scroll in the privacy of her logging in case he popped up, a man appearing out of thin air in the streets would have attracted just as much attention as her landing in the middle of town atop Zandra would have, hence why she had left the scroll behind in her room with a clone.

The real Akemi for her part was sitting at the steak house, chatting it up with a few of the locals, her waitress and a few of the patrons in for breakfast, what they had to share was rather interesting.

”How big were these ship”

”Bigger than any he`d ever seen, all 12 of them...” Continued Ando, the old rice farmer recounting with excitement the tale a traveling friend of his had said he had hear down south. Massive ship of iron and steel, powered by steam and large enough to carry dozens upon dozens... hundreds even. They had been seen sailing north east along the coast. Further south, word of Akara and Oderan, two small finish villages having been burned down and Samurai marching around... It had started.

”Thats amazing...” She said feigning innocent interest as Ando paused to take another sip of his coffee, she could sense the sudden appearance of Daisuke in her room, and then gained her clone’s memories of its short conversation with him. He’d be coming down any minute now. Realising that he might not right away recognise her with her irises now colored a normal dark brown, an effect of her chakra crystal necklace when worn, used to disguise her clan’s distinct eyes, she excused herself from among her company. Paid her bill and walked out to away the Suna nin outside. She had alot of info to share with him and they would have allot of planning to do, the coast wasn’t a far distance south, by sky they could be there by sunset. Ando had said that his friend had heard the ships were already past Mikawa bay, he’d estimated they would be coming by Shen island and the town of Kayien by tomorrow morning.

Kayien was an interesting place, she knew of it well, a fairly large town, about 70,000 inhabitants, only port on the island, and it was walled, if this fleet was indeed testing military strengths of the local nations, that Kayien would be a good place to strike...

His attempts at making a flashy and impressive entrance were shot down when he found out that his only audience consisted of a clone that vanished right after delivering a a message to him. Not that he was expecting to be received by an awestruck group or gain the respect an admiration of anyone from a simple entrance but it was a bit disheartening to find out that nobody but a clone was really watching. Regardless of how he felt, his face stayed the same as usual, incredibly hard to read with the trademark bored and lazy look on it.

Daisuke made his way out of the room of the Hodora Inn while scratching behind the ear of the little white rat on his head, Mew reactivity raised her head and stretched her little body before laying back down on the white hair that surrounded her, she was always so spoiled and as lazy as the man who raised her. Not two steps after closing the room door behind him, Daisuke noticed a girl coming up the stairs in the distance. The inn seemed very vacant on that floor so the appearance of someone else instantly caught his eye, even more so due to the fact that the girl that looked to be in her late teens or early twenties was not only quite good looking but had long blond hair with blue highlights on the left side and and around four piercings on her left ear.

When the girl noticed Daisuke making his way to the stairs she stopped and after a moment of hesitation gave him a smile along with a small courteous bow to which he responded with a quick bow of his head and kept walking. But then he stopped after taking a few steps down the stairs and closed his eyes to listen to the sounds around him, an easy feat thanks to how quiet the area was.

"Housekeeping!"

He heard right after the sound of knocking on wood. Silence then ensued for a few more seconds and a second knock was heard but after a few more seconds of silence he began hearing something else, a sound he knew all too well of something fiddling with a metal mechanism, like a lock. Daisuke began taking a few steps back up the stairs to sneak a peak but before he made it past the second step he heard a voice greeting him from bellow. Standing at the bottom of the stairs was another girl, she looked a bit older than the one from before but still younger than him and like the one from before she gave him a smile and a bow.
Feeling the girl's eyes glued to him made Daisuke uncomfortable and so with another bow he made his way down the rest of the stairs and out the building. It all pretty much stunk to him, from the way the girl hesitated when she saw him, to her claiming to be housekeeping yet carrying no equipment for the job and also the other one that seemed to show up perfectly when he was about to take a look. However, he figured that it was best to just talk about it with the Konoha ninja.
As he left the inn he instantly saw who he was meant to meet and made his way to her.

"Do yah need anthin from yah room or can we be get'hin tha goin?"

His speech was slightly different from before, much easier to understand, almost as if he was trying to be considerate toward others, something rare for Daisuke.

Gahh! Tizz short! Sorry! had a hard time with this one... =(

....

"Do yah need anthin from yah room or can we be get'hin tha goin?"

She gave him a slight bow and smile as he approached her. As for his question...

”I purchased a couple of cloak for us that i left up in my room, it’s supposed to be raining down south, it’s the season for it apparently. Just need to grab them...” she responded as she jestured towards the inn. ”Aside from that, no their’s nothing else i need from up there unless you want to get some rest before we leave, we’ll be heading towards the coast, by air it should be quick, but we’re still talking a day or so travel time... up to you.”

She started making her way towards the inn, realising that having her clone ask him to join her outside just to head back inside had kind of been a waste... might as well have told him to stay put and wait for her... Ah well.

”So, did you get or do what you needed? She asked referring to his showy exit from atop Zandra earlier. ”Or is there anything you still need to take care of before we head south? she added as she pulled the Inn’s door open, and stepped into its empty reception area giving the ground floor a quick look around in hopes of catching sight of the inn keep.

Oh come on, don't worry about that...my post didn't help either xD

"S'all gud, I be ready."

Was his only response to her question as they made their way back to the inn. Daisuke made no mention of the odd scene he witnessed when leaving the inn for two simple reasons, the first being that he had no real proof besides his gut feeling that something shady was going on and the second was to see how Akemi would handle the situation. Though he could feel her strength and see it in how she moved, knowing a partner's way of handling certain situations was important, a major clash in personalities and ideals could lead to tragic results during a mission and this problem was usually the main reason why Daisuke used to be assigned to missions without a squad, though the fact that he worked with summons helped removed the numbers handicap. If the two women were really as shady as he felt them to be then he wanted to see if Akemi would not only catch on to it but how she went about solving the problem.

As they walked inside the inn together one of the women from before popped out of nowhere with a bright smile and a bow, she was the one that stopped him from spying on the "housekeeper girl".

"Dear costumers! I hope you had a wonderful day, I'm sure you are tired but we are currently in the process of cleaning the rooms and hallways."

The woman spoke in an unusually loud voice while keeping one hand forward, signaling them to stop, and the other seemed to be massaging her neck bellow the ear however her long brown hair prevented him from seeing what the hand was doing exactly. The moment Daisuke took a step forward and was about to tell her they would be quick, the woman stepped between them and the stairs, once again giving them a large smile and putting a hand forward.

"Please, dear costumers! I cannot allow you to enter at this time."

She was quite forceful and it clearly felt like she was trying to buy time.

Very well, We’ll come back later, she said as she turned away from the young woman and back towards the inn front door, the moment her own face was out of line of sight activating her Byakugan, her irises turning from the artificial dark brown to all white as the influence of her chakra stone necklace lost out against the Chakra flow of her activated doujutsu.

The Girl had a companion as suspected, this one listening by the door just inside Akemi’s room, no doubt having been searching it when she heard her partner’s voice in the lobby here barring she and Daisuke’s way. Both had a particular chakra flow, just like the people she had been chasing to Komu the night before. In the basement she could see the inn keeper and his wife, as well as another she recognized as an inn employee, all were bound and somewhat beaten up but alive.

Her Byakugan deactivated as she opened the inn door to step out allowing her chakra stone to once more camouflage her irises, turning them dark brown rather than their usual Lavender white. Waving for Daisuke to follow, Akemi stepped out into the street and made her way into an alley across the way and out of sight of the inn. The presence of these two presented an interesting opportunity while simultaneously proving disturbing, how the hell had they tracked her here? And so quickly too, she didn’t like the implications of it, not even the samurai with their odd sensing ability had tracked them, yet the foreigners had... How?

Well that would be something to figure out before they continued, but for right now, she couldn’t pass down this opportunity. ”I’m hoping that that look you’ve been giving me over and over since we walked into the inn has something to do with the woman that stopped us there?... She said realizing that he had probably run into the woman when he first stepped out of the inn after speaking with her clone a few minute earlier. It would have been kind of difficult to miss the oddity of her behavior, and just now, the out of place raising of her voice when keeping them from going upstairs. ”Obviously not staff.” heck if the odd behavior hadn’t been enough of a warning sign, there was the fact that Akemi has stayed in this inn before and knew that the man who owned it ran it with his wife, son and daughter. ”There is another upstairs in my room, they have the inn keeper and the staff tied up in the basement, and judging from their chakra flow, they’re connected with those we’re after.”

Hmm, she wondered disturbed at the implication, Had he had something to do with those two women following her? He had been gone for a while, not to mention that the scroll he had given her could have been used to track her. She had met him but once before, and though they had worked together then, who knew what he had been up to since, especially that Suna no longer existed... Could he be working with them?... well, anything was possible, but she doubted it... At least she hoped not.

”I have an idea I want to try out, mind if i handle this on my own?” She asked though it wasn't truly a question, nor did she wait for a response, forming hand seals that brought forth 2 of her Taka Bunshin. The two clones immediately got to work, the first of the pair forming hand seals to alter her appearance to that of a young man in farmer`s clothing and conical hat, while the other rushed onto a nearby roof top and bolted off.

”I wonder how they tracked me here. And so quickly too.” indeed, they had come by air, and she had made a point of taking a look for anyone following with her byakugan regularly on the way, though admittedly she had been looking out for Samurai rather than these guys. ”Well, no matter, this might give us a shot of tracking them.” With Byakugan active, she watched her clones getting into place, the one transformed into a farmer making its way towards the inns front door while the other snuck her way onto the inn’s roof covertly coming to take cover by the window to her Akemi's room.

”lets see if they go for it..”

The “Farmer” clone walked into the inn, and was immediately intercepted by the same young woman that had blocked their paths moments ago reciting a similar line with the same oddly loud tone of voice.

"Sir! we are currently in the process of cleaning the rooms and hallways. Please come back at a later time."

The second girl, still in Akemi’s room, hearing her partner in the lobby, stopped what she was doing and went to stand by the room’s door, placing her ear near it to better hear what was going on. That was the second clone’s cue. Rushing in like bat out of hell, the young woman she rushed at had just enough time to turn towards the incoming clone when its fist cracked her in the face followed by a vicious kick to the gut that sent her smashing through the door and crashing into the hallway’s opposing wall cracking the wood it was built of.

The noise was enough to grab the woman’s partner’s attention, turning her attention away from “farmer” she spinned to rush for the stairs but was grabbed from behind by the transformed clone, grabbing her by the hair and slapping her in the back of the neck before rushing off out the front door. The slap was enough to knock the woman down to her knees but not enough to keep her there, getting back up and shaking the cobwebs out of her head. She only took a quick look to confirm her attacker was gone then turned back towards the stairs to the second floor in time to see the second clone holding the other woman, now knocked out, by the back of the neck about to slam a Kunai into her chest, The clone, upon noticing the other woman running up the stairs, let go of the woman’s neck and bolted back into the room, grabbing the two cloaks Akemi had purchased and left in the room before jumping out the window and bolting it out of town east bound.

With that her make shift assault was done, and the transformed “farmer” clone undone, Akemi turned towards Daisuke with a smile.

”Time to go.”

Turning and making her way out back onto the streets and towards the southern road out.

”I’ve managed to mark both women.” Indeed the pair of clones had intentionally grabbed hold of or touched both women specifically in the back of their necks, marking both with Akemi’s “Shodo Mark” seal, the woman on the second floor being further marked with her Kirin seal.

”One of my clones is heading east carrying the cloaks i had purchased, they marked them with some kind of mark, I’m guessing to track us, my Byakugan is the only reason i was able to see it, it’s made of chakra, but its unlike any seal I’ve ever seen... These people... they have interesting techniques...”

Something suddenly caught her attention, unexpectedly, she could sense half a dozen new Chakras appearing out of nowhere, and they were coming right at them.

”How..” She said turning with her Byakugan active once more now facing 5 armored men lined some 30 feet ahead of them with a sixth man towering over them as he stood behind them. That one looked inhuman from the start but she hadn’t expected what she saw next. The man`s arms splitting into multiple appendages that looked like spider legs or something of the sort, 8 of them, the man then touched each of the 5 soldiers standing before him with one of his appendages and each man`s body in turn began to shift and change, increasing in size and muscle mass till they each stood nearly 9 feet tall and around 500 pounds each, all of it hardened bone and muscle.... The almost looked beast like, or almost like stone golems, yet as the 5 came rushing in with massive swords in hand, they showed surprising speed and nimbleness for their mass and size...

”Well, i guess we won`t be leaving just yet...”

From the candle flame to the frying pan, their situation had been quite easy and manageable with the two women back at the inn but things suddenly escalated with a freak with five hulks suddenly showed up with clearly bad intentions. Daisuke had no idea what the man was, the way he morphed his body like that was like no technique he had ever seen before so it was easy to deduct that it was likely either due to some special and highly dangerous experiment or a one of the creepiest bloodline limits he had ever seen. Either way it didn't bode well if he could make five men hulk out with what looked to be a simple touch. When the five soldiers charged out toward them, Daisuke took a step forward while making a fast set of handseals.

"I be takin tha gerillahs, yah take tha freaky one."

The guy looked tough on his own and god knows what his abilities were, but having to fight him plus those super soldiers he made would just make things harder than they needed, plus he already knew she could handle herself. Both his hands suddenly thrust forward and a large summoning circle appeared between them, followed immediately by three large puffs of smoke between Daisuke and the charging beasts.

From the smoke emerged three 10 foot tall white rats clad in armor and filled with scares, the royal guard of the white rat clan, rulers of all rats. The giant rats took the full force of the charge from three of the hulking soldiers while two of them managed to pass by and continue heading straight for Daisuke.

One of the rats stopped the charging soldier with a swift move, by driving his longsword right through the man's chest, tearing through any protection along the way and stabbing right through the man's heart. Death should have been immediate, yet the man's charge only stopped when he collided with the rat and pushed him back a couple of feet but after that his body slumped forward, lifeless.
Another rat took the man's charge head one, he held no weapon in his hand but was no less dangerous than the others. Their shoulders collided and like rugby players they both struggled for dominance with neither of them giving and inch, even the ground under them started to become scarred from their feet. Then suddenly the rat took another approach, using the man's power against him he grabbed the hulk and rolled back, using his hind legs to lift the man and slam him on his back, immediately followed by a back flip to end on top of the man in a mount position. A storm of powerful earth-shattering punches followed as the rat threw everything it had onto the man who even with his enhanced body could not push the rat off. The final punch was a focused one, the rat pulled the fist back while gathering strength and in one swift motion delivered a punch that broke trough the soldier's guard and crashed against the man's face, with so much power that even the ground under his head cracked...the man then stopped moving completely.
The third rat held a large axe in his hands when he came out of the smoke and the way he handle the monster was simply, he lifted his axe up high and swung it down with tremendous power effectively cutting the charging soldier in half, death was instant.

As the rats dealt with their own opponents, Daisuke dealt with two of his own. The hulking madman both jumped at him, aiming to tackle and crush Daisuke under their clearly far superior power but when they crashed against the ground and each other, both of them caught nothing but air as Daisuke rolled forward right under them. One of the soldiers turned around to look at Daisuke and in his rage he pushed down the other, using him for support to get up and threw a powerful punch right afterward at Daisuke. The punch connected, but it made no damage...Wu Xing Quan's Water Stance was Daisuke's specialty and it focused on taking the damage from even the most powerful of punches to the lowest possible amount and a master like Daisuke could reduce a wild punch like that to almost nothing. The moment the punch connected Daisuke's body began to spin in place, using the punches own force and as the man's body was carried by the attack's momentum Daisuke used the opportunity to stop and strike the man three times in quick succession under the arm close to the armpit. The man took a couple of steps forward, his feet somewhat unsteady and then he lifted his arms up while turning to face Daisuke and then...fell to his back, unmoving.

Finally Daisuke turned to the remaining man and lifted his hand, ready for the attack as he went back to his feet. the man was so hopped up on whatever drug was injected into his system that he payed no attention to his fallen comrades and instead charged at Daisuke with his arms wide open, looking to give the white haired ninja a bear-hug that would surely snap his spine in various pieces. Daisuke suddenly rushed forward, a knee to the crotch, an elbow to the adam's apple and a spinning elbow to the temple. The soldier felt no pain, that much was evident however he was still human which was evident when he dropped to his knees while grabbing his throat, incapable of breathing while the world also flipped upside-down before his eyes. Daisuke said nothing as the giant rat with the axe walked in the man's direction and with a clean and strong swing cut the man's neck and hands to finish him off.

"I be takin tha gerillahs, yah take tha freaky one."

She gave him the slightest of nods as Daisuke stepped forth summoning his host of Rats while keeping her eyes focused on the oddity that seemed to be the leader of the group. She was uncertain of what her Byakugan was seeing, within the man’s body were a far larger number of bones that there should have been, some hidden deep within him seemingly serving no purpose. Perhaps more oddly the man’s chakra infused every single bone in his body, but not all reacted the same to said chakra, some of the bones, particularly the ones on his extra appendages and those seemingly useless extra bones throughout his body each had a slightly different chakra hue to them than his skeletal structure.

She suddenly bolted taking several steps running before leaping high over Daisuke and his Rats as they engaged the super soldiers charging at them. In mid air she detonated a smoke bomb, emerging from it a moment later and landing a short distance from the multi armed man and charged in with Kunai in hand, as two of his spider like appendages coming slamming done upon her in an attempt to impale her. Sidestepping his initial blows she danced and weaved as one appendage after the other slashed at her. The pair became a blur of motion, attacking, defending and counterattacking in turn, pitting the man’s multiple appendages against her superior field of view and superior reflexes and Taijutsu.

The girl was fast and agile, and somehow had remarkable awareness, managing to accurately block and counter even slashes and blows coming at her from behind, but Darrix knew it was only a question of time, he had fought hundreds at close range like this in his time, and each one of those fights had ended with him on top, it was always ever after laying limp on the ground in shock, terror and confusion that his opponents realised how great of an error it had been to get so close to him, and by then it was always too late.

Her time was coming, as swift as she was, how long could she keep it up before he’d finally get a hand on her?

As if in answer, Akemi suddenly seemed to falter, slowing for a moment and giving him an opening and he wasted no time taking advantage of it, sending one of his many appendages rushing at her head as the tip of it cracked open into what looked like multi jointed fingers. She finally reacted raising her arm to block his attack, his newly revealed fingers grabbing hold of her arm and coming to a stop for just a moment before suddenly pushing through as if slipping through warmed butter through her arm emerging with both her Radius and Ulna bones in hand, leaving her forearm nothing but loose torn flesh with her hand hanging loose as if at the edge of a rag,

The look in her eyes demonstrated her shock, the same look he had seen hundreds of times, no one ever expected it, seeing their flesh give way as if clay in his hand. He took pleasure in their shock, in them realising their doom, having stepped back away from her with a smile giving her time to see, time for fear to build up within her before he’d finish her off. As for the bones he had taken out of her, he brought them to his stomach and began pushing them through his flesh into his body.

”I see...” Akemi suddenly voices, her eyes fixed on her own bones as he was pushing them into himself ”That’s what it is...”

Confused, he saw pain in her eyes, but saw no shock or fear, as if she hadn’t yet realized how permanent his... The girl before him suddenly seemed to fade into mist and smoke as did her bones still partly in his hands, leaving an exposed open wound in his stomach where he had been pushing them into himself through his skin. He had heard of this, these people here had the ability to copy themselves with their magics... “Clones” these locals called it.

Indeed when Akemi had rushed at him from Daisuke’s side and detonated her smoke bomb while in mid air, she had taken the opportunity using her Kirin seal to summon to her her Shadow clone which had been running out of town with the two cloaks it had grabbed from her rented room, that effort no longer being needed. It had been that clone which had emerged and rushed at the man while the real Akemi, using her Kaisoku technique had sped out of view and into hiding atop one of the shops overlooking the street where they were battling. It was from that hiding spot which she now emerged, somersaulting onto the street and coming to stand some 15 feet from her opponent.

”So... am i facing the real you this time? Or are you still cowering somewhere sending another copy to fight me...”

”No...” She answered while noting that Daisuke and his Rats had taken out the augmented soldiers ”The “copy” served its purpose. I don’t need one anymore.”

”Purpose?” he asked, gripping the open would where her arm bones had pushed through his skin and squeezing it closed and sealed just as if clay.

”Yes, i wanted to understand your power, all those extra bones in your body...

Was that what she had done? Was that why that copy of hers had suddenly slowed down? Deliberately giving him an opening?...

”You infuse your chakra into a person’s flesh on contact, this allows you to reshape that flesh, it’s why the flesh on my copy’s arm gave way and opened up despite how little pressure you had put, it’s how you were so easily able to rip out its forearm’s bones. It’s how you just closed up that wound on your stomach just now... it also explains where and how you got all those extra bones in your body...”

Darrix, frowned slightly but made a point to hide his frustration, how the hell could she had figured out all of that from just having her forearm ripped out like that?... How did she know about his collected bones?... No one should have been able to figure all that out with such a brief and minor experience. Indeed that one experience alone would not have been enough were it not for her eyes, the Byakugan’s ability to see his chakra flow and its penetrating vision that had allowed her to see his chakra and how it had invaded the clones arm, how its flesh had become malleable and gave way to his push, it allowed her to see his chakra flow to his own wound causing the same effect, allowing him to close the gash by simply molding it shut with his hand. But he knew nothing of her eyes or the abilities they granted her, what was obvious however was that she was particularly perceptive, and she was deceptive. He’d have to be careful so as not to be tricked into showing everything he could do to her... Then again, with the troops he had brought now laying defeated, and the woman’s partner and those rat like creatures he had summoned moving to join her, numbers were no longer in his favor, nor were the odds...

”Well then, it seems you have me at a disadvantage, but allow me to give you a parting gift, and show you another power that i have...”

Two of his spider like appendages suddenly tore into his chest, emerging coated in his blood a moment later which he quickly lashed towards the slain augmented soldier lying along the street, managing to hit three of them with his blood.

”Have fun...” he said as he raised is fingered appendage revealing an odd crystal in its grasp that suddenly flashed brightly and just like that he was gone. The threat however was not over, the three slain troops’ skin began to bubble and shift before abruptly rolling to meet each other and merge, and the shifting mass of flesh and now exposed bones stabilized, it too on the massive 10 foot tall form where tho super soldiers merged at the waist each facing opposite directions, with the bones of the third soldier reshaped to cover this new abomination’s entire body with 2 inch protruding spikes. This creature was different, where as the augmented soldiers had become masses of muscle, this thing was leaner... longer, muscles stretched to make the thing more mobile, faster, which with four arms to attack and defend with, and heads now granting it nearly 360 degrees field of view around it, and all those extra bones filling it body and covering it, this thing would be much tougher to beat.
