Goddess of the Hunt | [ Ryuuchi ]

Outside the walls of the major cities, the Snow Empire boasts a variety of climates and landscapes. From the frozen glacial desert of the north, to the deciduous rain forest in the south, the four provinces are fun to discover for those who can keep their wits about them. Wild beasts of primitive and dangerous proportions loom in the corners of even its most barren wastelands, and the criminal elements are almost free to roam anyplace that is secluded from civilization.

"Hey..."

Muryuu finally spoke up as they kept walking toward their destination.

"Have you ever heard of pure black dragons?"

Even though Muryuu was never one to share secrets he knew that keeping certain things from Ninoya wasn't the wisest of things especially considering that they were about to work together in a fight against a deadly opponent, even he knew that trust was important. However there was still the problem of revealing too much information than what he should, there are various details that could make things complicated for him, especially considering that Ninoya was part of some kind of law enforcement group last time he checked.

"Dragons are by nature territorial creatures, they make their own nest, mark their territory and guard it with their lives...but they rarely leave their territories or fight amongst each other unless one is trespassing. If you don't trespass on their territory then you're usually safe. Down south the dragons are different, they are far more intelligent than the ones here and often coexist with humans but even those that don't are usually wise and peaceful. They are, however, few compared to the ones here."

The Ryuujin clan based in the Lightning Country were very old and very wise, gaining the ability to turn themselves into humans in order to live amongst them in peace and watch over their evolution...though in turn it gave some of the oldest ones quite the god complex. Their coexistence was so successful that they started learning from the humans in the ways of battle, many young dragons even had childhoods quite similar to regular human children as they were nearly indistinguishable from everyone else once they attained the ability to turn into humans.

"Black dragons...were an abomination. These guys never bothered with territory or coexistence, instead they used to roam around looking for blood. They invaded other dragon's territories just to hunt them, they attacked nations, participated in wars...they did everything they could to kill. You think an adult dragon is scary? Try one who's only purpose is destruction and chaos. Luckily there are very few around now."

He paused for a moment to look straight into Ninoya's eyes with a piercing glare.

"You get where I'm going with this or do I need to make it simpler?"

Ninoya's head twitched. Not enough so that it warranted a full turn toward Muryuu, but she was definitely interested in what he had to say. Especially since he didn't start off the conversation rude like he normally did.

"I can't say I have, no." She responded, attempting to express her interest. He was talking to her about something important, and she wasn't about to let him think that she couldn't care less. Whatever he had to say, she was all ears.

Nodding as he spoke, Ninoya was aware of the different "types" of dragons. For whatever the reason, only dragons in the Snow Country seemed to be violent and true beasts. Maybe it was because they had awoken from a slumber that had lasted... who knows how long. Maybe millenia ago dragons were much more vicious. She had made it a point to go to the Land of Lightning to uncover more about dragons. Perhaps something she could use against the pests back in her home.

"You know quite a bit about these beasts." She began, her tone suggesting that she was suspicious. Ninoya wasn't about to have another argument, though. "You're saying a 'black' dragon created that mess back there? Huh." Thumb in her mouth, she chewed on her nail. "Well hell, if the thing sees other dragons as a good hunt, I can't say I'm anxious to go track and kill it. Of course... with its power and destructive nature, it might take more than we can dish out to stop it." Probably not what Muryuu was expecting, but talk of a demi-god in the form of a dragon peaked her interest. She wanted to go after the damn thing. If she was to be a Goddess of the Hunt, it seemed like an appropriate goal to set herself too. One step at a time, though. Smaller dragons, first. "Let's quicken the pace. I'm getting antsy."

The moment Ninoya referenced how much he seemed to know about dragons, obviously indicating how suspicious his knowledge about a relatively unknown type of dragon was, Muryuu felt like another argument was incoming and for a mere second started regretting having told her everything he did. However, much to his surprise, the girl did not press the issue, instead she began speaking about fighting such a fearsome beast and while the mere thought of such a thing was borderline suicidal in his head, he did like the fact that she was either smart enough to not press him for more information or she didn't want to bother arguing with him again. Either way, he thanked her in his mind, though he'd never voice such a appreciation.

"You know...do what you want, but if I see an adult black dragon I'm getting away as fast as I can."

Though it might have sounded like a joke to outsiders, anyone that knew Muryuu would know that his jokes were like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, a myth that nobody but children believe to be true. He was dead serious, if he were to ever encounter an adult black dragon the chances of fighting the thing and making it out alive would be closer to 0% than 1% and if the one facing them turned out to be the very same one he was looking for, then their chances of even escaping after catching his attention would be non-existent.

After the exchange of information, which was really the most Muryuu had ever talked in such a short amount time and lead him to believe Ninoya to be a bad influence on him, they continued on their travel toward the lair of their true prey. The cave where the dragon massacre had taken place wasn't too far away from the area where Ninoya believed the dragon's nest was thus they soon reached their destination without anymore banter ensuing between the two, much to Muryuu's delight and comfort.
He looked up after stopping for a bit and took a large whiff of the cold air while his eyes witnessed the reddening sky above them.

"Is this the place? Do you have a plan or do we just go in gun's blazing and praying for the best?"

Her eyes flicked to Muryuu as he mentioned the black dragon again. She would uphold her enthusiastic attitude about tackling any beast that crossed her path, but she knew she wouldn't follow through with it. Muryuu didn't seem to be one to back down, so seeing him so hesitant on the matter made her nervous. At the same time, it made her think. Ninoya was a clever girl. She had to be, to be the level of hunter she was. She felt a puzzle coming together, she just needed some more pieces.

The sun beginning to set, the duo had reached the top of a small mountain. Tall burgundy colored rocks scattered the mountain top. Near the middle of the area was a large pile of ash. Even from where they stood, they could feel a light heat radiating from the ashen pile. It needn't even be said, it was the dragon's nest. One had to wonder how the beast came to make such a thing.

"Yes." It was indeed the place. Ninoya approached one of the rocks, her hand touching it. "A plan? Guns blazing, of course." A smile came over her lips, peering around the rock at the ash pile. "You think any human as successfully attacked this beast before? We're going to take it completely be surprise."

Ninoya's arm pointed toward the nest, but she really pointed to beyond it. "There's farmland that way. It'll be coming from that direction back to it's nest. Dragon or not, it won't see very well at night. You can bet it will be back soon." The archer looked to her partner. "If we do this right, we can bring down this beast in one swoop. I've perfected a lightning technique that'll pierce it's armor. So with any luck, you'll just be emergency backup." She didn't even give Muryuu a wink, Ninoya was dead serious.

Turning back, Ninoya kept her eyes on the thing's nest. "Even though it's young, it still as powerful chakra. If you feel the air warming up, that's because it's approaching."

The area was interesting, not nearly as overwhelming as the last dragon lair they had been in but it still carried a heavy and hot air about it, it was clearly the nest of an apex predator like a dragon. It was actually quite interesting to see what an actual dragon's nest still in use looked like, it was unlike anything he had seen from any other animal out there, the pile of ash it left in the middle seemed like a display of its power, it was normal for animals to mark territories but to actually leave a sign telling others what would happen to trespassers was a human trait, a trait of those with a significant level of intelligence.

The "plan" wasn't that bad, if she had developed and enhanced that lightning spear used during their fight then it would probably be strong enough to pierce through the dragon's skin and muscle but it also carried the risk that if she were to miss or the spear turned out to not be strong enough then she would be left wide open for a counter attack...which would be where he came in to save her arse.

"You know, if I can smell it then it'll likely be able to smell us. The wind is in our favor so I'll catch its scent before it does ours but it won't buy you that much time."

He raised his hand as he spoke and plucked out one of his white hairs, holding it up to see the direction of the wind which luckily was coming from the location Ninoya had pointed out earlier. If the wind stayed like that until the dragon's return then they would easily get the jump on it.

Around eighteen minutes passed since their first arrival at the dragon's nest and there was still not sign of the dragon. During that time Muryuu remained quiet, sitting with his back to Ninoya while working on something. In his hands was a long black shaft created using his scales which he softened and hardened as he tested the optimal flexibity...and then suddenly the scent reached his nose.

"Incoming, there it is."

Muryuu whispered back to Ninoya while turning to face the direction of the scent. As he got to his feet Muryuu took the object he had been working on and it quickly unraveled as the scales returned back into his arm before it turned back to human skin.
Then he finally saw it, in the distance the beast with a wingspan over twice its size, the red scales reflecting the dimming light of the sun and the bloodied sheep it carried in one of it's claws.

"Make it count."

Then he stopped, he had been so focused on his creation and the scent that he had failed to notice something important.

"The wind..."

...it had stopped.

"I don't need much time." Green eyes looked to Muryuu and then back to the nest. If this all went off without a hitch, one clean attack was all the archer needed. She was confident, but something told her it'd be a bit more complicated than that.

Waiting, although not very patiently, Ninoya anticipated the dragon's arrival.

Changing her stance, sirens went off in the archer's head at the promise of the winged rat approaching. She hadn't killed a dragon before, not many people had, and this was to be her first. She was about to take down the biggest game possible. If only she could find a way to mount its head on her wall.

Forming several hand signs upon Muyruu's word, Ninoya held both hands in the air. She breathed in, and then out, totally focused. "Don't get in my way." This was a double edged sword-- Ninoya didn't want Muryuu to interfere with her fight, nor did she want him to get pierced by her ninjutsu. Separating her hands, concentrated blue lightning formed in the air, Ninoya having a moment's notice to grab the several foot Dragonslayer's Spear in her right hand.

The beast landing, though with grace as to not lose the sheep, Ninoya heard what Muyruu had said. Without the wind, the dragon would be able smell them. It already had. The thing moved toward them, claws on the end of its wings attacking like front legs as it approached the rock that Ninoya and Muryuu hid behind.

"Doesn't matter." Ninoya responded, fearless in the face of the dragon approached. "I'd rather see the light in its eyes fade."

Jumping onto the rock she once hid behind, Ninoya reeled her arm back. "Aaah!" She shouted upon throwing the spear, it rocketed toward the beast, sparks spreading from it as it continued on its path. Ninoya's eyes watched with intent, expecting the spear to hit its mark.

With agility, the dragon veered from the incoming projectile. Rather than it piercing into its head, the dragon now had a glowing blue spear sticking out just below its "shoulder", where its left wing extended from its body. It gave a howl of pain before responding to Ninoya's attack with a tunnel of fire.

Leaping, Ninoya found herself on another rock, her eyes looking to the sparking spear that had entered the dragon's flesh. It had definitely penetrated the hard scales. If she could retrieve the spear, she would be able to attack the beast again with it. Though with every moment that passed, a small amount of chakra was lost. She had to act fast. Asking Muryuu for assistance wasn't in her game plan.

Spoiler:
Name: Dragonslayer's Spear
Rank: A
Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)
Jutsu Type: Ninjutsu
Elemental Affinity: Advanced Lightning [Raiton]
Clan: --

Description: After throwing together a couple hand signs Ninoya will form a concentrated spear of lightning, approximately one meter in length. This spear is strong enough to chip away at the toughest armors, including dragon scales. Hence its name. In order to mold raiton chakra for this technique, Ninoya must be in a calm and focused state. Alternatively, if Ninoya is in a fit of fiery rage (like her fiery hair) she can also concentrate a spear, though is will be more likely for electricity to leach out. The color will also change from electric blue to crimson red.

They were made the second the wind had stopped being on their side and allowed the dragon to catch their scent, throwing the option of a surprise attack right out the window and into the fire but when Muryuu saw the supposed intelligent beast blindly rushing at them he expected that Ninoya would be capable of landing a killing blow on a beast of that size on the first try, sadly he was mistaken. The dragon was quicker and more nimble than they had expected and was capable of avoiding attack to the vital area, she didn't even damage his wings instead to prevent it from going up into the air, though it likely disabled the arm. However, they had a very pissed off giant winged lizard that breathes fire right in front of them and that spelled trouble.

"She mi...YOU MISSED!!!"

He knew the dragon dodging was unexpected but in the midst of it all he couldn't help pointing out the obvious as he saw flames rushing toward the both of them. Ninoya was always quick but she was able to dodge the dragon's fire attack way before him, but there was also a reason why he waited a bit more before moving out of the way. As the fire was about to reach him, Muryuu's arm turned black and he dodged in the opposite direction of Ninoya but only far enough that the flames barely reached him. His intentions were simple, test his scales against a real dragon's flames and to do that he left his black scale covered arm in the attack's path.

The result? It was hot, maybe because it was a fire dragon but the flames actually scorched his scales which were capable of withstanding strong fire jutsu in the past, however the damage wasn't as bad as he thought. For a moment he looked at his scorched black arm while the dragon focused its attention on the one that had hurt it, ignoring the other. The feeling of pain in his arm was familiar, the whole scene was familiar, it reminded him of the fight he had with his brother years before, only this dragon was bigger, redder and far less evil. Yet it also brought up a feeling he had never felt before but knew exactly what it was, one that everyone that shared his blood had and that was that thrilling feeling of hunting a dragon, something left behind by his ancestors.

"I'm aware!" Ninoya screamed back. The dragon wasn't fooled by her sudden leap to another rock, so her screaming just made the shinobi more of an annoying pest. Like a fly buzzing next to one's ear. Not very threatening.

A flap of the dragon's wings and moving another couple steps was followed by a stream of pillowing flames erupting from its mouth. Once again, Ninoya was quick on the draw and avoided the intense fire.

It wasn't just the heat of the flames, it was the dragon itself that was raising the temperature of the surrounding area. Despite it's younger age, it still radiated katon chakra. The air was saturated with it. Had this been a lightning dragon, Ninoya might have been able to use the raiton chakra to her advantage. No such luck here.

"Okay you son of a bitch." Ninoya, bow in hand, pulled back on the string and aimed a single arrow at the dragon's direction. At this point Muryuu was probably questioning Ninoya's common sense. Not even charged with lightning, how would that measly pointed stick do anything?

A black vector arrow tattoo on Ninoya's back wiggled lightly, it raising a few centimeters up her back as she imbued its ink properties into her arrow, along with a little something extra. Though no noticeable differences could be seen.

Releasing the arrow, the dragon, at the same time, released another bout of flames. Ninoya responded again, though her escape was narrower this time.

Arrow hitting the flames, one would not have even given it another thought. However, three black vector arrows emerged from the destroyed arrow and scattered along the sides of the fire, they appeared to have a mind of their own as they raced to impact the dragon.

They hit nearly in unison, C-ranked bursts of raiton zapping the dragon as each Inkling Arrow hit. Much like a blank slate, the ink arrows had been colored in with Ninoya's electrical chakra.

Not expecting the pain, the dragon made an audible growl to the weak attacks delivered upon it. All the while Ninoya quickly approached the beast from the ground, bow left on the ground for the sake of agility

Before Ninoya could make the jump on the reptile's back, it swung one of its massive arms to swat the girl away. Ninoya back flipped in response, avoiding the beast's dirty claws. She pointed out her middle and index fingers, firing a jolt of lightning at the dragon. As the dragon breathed in for another release of fire, Ninoya quickly came to realize she wouldn't be able to get to her spear through distractions and small bursts of chakra alone. She wanted to conserve her energy, but she lost that battle the moment she missed her initial attack.

Flinging together hand signs, Ninoya suddenly darted away from the beast, narrowly avoiding the breath of fire from almost point blank range. One hand and one foot on the side of a tall rock, Ninoya looked down onto the dragon, her skin warm from the heated encounter, and sparks leaping across her body from her Lightning Quick technique. Needless to say, the static wasn't doing her hair very well.

Spoiler:
Name: Inkling Arrow
Rank: C
Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m), Far (10m+)
Jutsu Type: Fuuinjutsu
Elemental Affinity: --
Clan: --

Description: Whilst using her Inkling Tattoo, Ninoya will imbue an arrow with the properties from her seal. Launching the arrow from her bow, once it hits something a single black arrow will emerge from the arrow, following the same affects granted from the Inkling Tattoo. On its own, this Inkling arrow is rather useless, but if Ninoya were to imbue it with other properties it could perform further feats-- such as other fuuinjutsu techniques or raiton chakra.

Name: Lightning Quick
Rank: B
Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)
Jutsu Type: Ninjutsu
Elemental Affinity: Lightning [Raiton]
Clan: --

Description: After performing a string of hand seals, Ninoya will pump raiton chakra through certain parts of her body-- only able to perform the technique to fuel one "limb" at a time. With this boost, aided by the raiton chakra, Ninoya is able to perform much quicker physical movements. Whether it be a quicker punch, or fueling a single leg to suddenly speed toward an opponent. The affects last only a few turns... less so if Ninoya is constantly using its affects.

Muryuu needed to calm himself down, even he knew that perfectly well as the last thing he wanted was to give in to that feeling, it was the very same feeling his brother used when they fought, a feeling, a base instinct that seemed to fuel his power and turn him into a wild predator. But that wasn't Muryuu, he wasn't an irrational beast that would lose himself on the primal instinct to hunt and let it move his body to take down a foe, he refused to accept that side of himself because once he did then he would be no different than his father and brother.

While the dragon was busy with Ninoya who seemed to be handling herself well enough, at least she hadn't been eaten yet, Muryuu focused on the scales in his arm. The burned scales began to peel off by themselves and were immediately replaced by brand new ones the moment they dropped from his body until his whole arm had a new shiny coat of black scales. He didn't regenerate his wounds, instead he replaced his skin like a snake as the previous scales had become weakened and useless, it was a simple use of scale manipulation though it did not heal the damage that the flames had done to that which lay beneath the scales...it was like replacing a damaged piece of armor for a new one.

He inhaled and exhaled twice with his eyes closed to calm himself and when the red eyes opened he saw only the dragon and a grin formed on his lips. He feelings he had were suppressed for now, however deep down he was feeling a certain kind of happiness to be standing before such an opponent. His knees bent and his body arched forward until his left hand touched the ground and he seemed almost like a sprinter before the start of a race. The black arm was flexed at his side and he seemed to be focusing his power as the muscles seemed bigger and harder than before and the scales were almost lifting up like little spikes all over the arm. One moment he was there and the next he was gone with only two footprints left behind on the stone ground.

The dragon was too distracted by Ninoya to notice the white haired and red eyed attacker on its side and by the time it realized it was under attack, Muryuu already planted his black fist on the dragon's head right bellow the right eye. The power and surprise element were more than enough to put the dragon off balance and send it falling to the ground and that was enough to complete Muryuu's second test...his strength was enough to fight the dragon. However it wasn't all a success which he noticed when his feet touched the floor moments after the punch, his scales, ones he hardened before the impact to their maximum power were cracked in a few spots and blood started so slip out of them yet the dragon seemed to only carry a slight bruise from the hit.

The red beast immediately jumped back up and stood on all fours, releasing a powerful roar showing it's rage after all the pain it had felt in such a short time. Muryuu on the other hand didn't waste any time, he simply shot Ninoya a glance and charged right at the dragon as it roared and lifted itself to stand only on its hind legs. The scales on his black arm began to shift and as some covered the wounds that had opened up from the punch, others formed a thick dao sword which he immediately put to use, slashing at the dragon with all the power in his right arm and hitting the beast with a diagonal slash over the beast's belly. The third and final test was done, the results were as expected but still not to his liking...the sword's edge was heavily damaged and the dragon received what would be the equivalent of a paper cut, enough to cut through the first layer and draw out a bit of blood but nothing more than an annoyance. For a moment Muryuu realized what others must have felt when attacking his own scales.

"Uh Oh..."

Taking practically no damage from the attack the beast countered immediately, spinning around and delivering a power whip of its tail into Muryuu's body which sent him flying back and crash against a rock behind Ninoya, shattering the mineral from the sheer force of the impact. Were it not for Muryuu's immediate conversion of the skin on his torso into scales and hardening them, he'd likely be broken beyond repair, but as a result from his quick defense the hit looked worse than the damage it actually did. But the dragon wasted, taking a different approach from before, it opened up its wings and took to the sky while readying another fire breath at the both of them.

Eyes widened, Ninoya watched as Muryuu sucker punched the massive beast. If this were a tag team fight against the dragon, Ninoya may have been more grateful to see her companion come to her aid. Instead, she couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed.

Head twisting, the archer watched the young man make a crater against a rock with his body after the dragon whipped him with its tail. "Wow." She hushed under her breath, eyes looking upward as the beast took to the skies. "Get down here!" She shook her head, releasing the chakra in her hand and foot as she fell to the ground. Lightning still sparked around her person, her speed was still increased by her ninjutsu.

Switching tactics, the dragon was instead launching balls of fire at the archer, Muryuu still stuck in a rock behind her. While the spheres were quick, Ninoya was quicker. Avoiding every attack, Ninoya contemplated her next move. While she had the chakra to generate another spear of lightning, she wasn't confident in her ability to land a hit with the distance between her and the beast. Never mind that, but the spear she penetrated the dragon with earlier was still lodged in its body.

"Okay... fine..." As she noticed the dragon opening its mouth for another attempt at hitting Ninoya, the archer darted off toward one of the larger rocks. Moving incredibly quick, she leaped up, feet landing against the boulder, Ninoya kicked off of it, leaving behind cracks as well as multiple jolts of electricity. Speeding toward the dragon above, it missed its fireball as Ninoya reached out her hands and grabbed a hold of the dragon's large body.

Standing upright, Ninoya moved to grab the lightning spear. However, like swatting a fly, the dragon began to drop, twisting its body as it tried to rid itself of the annoying bug on its back. "Shit!"

Landing on one knee, Ninoya had a hand on the rocky ground beneath her. The dragon flapped its wings and pulled up, avoiding slamming into its nest and a couple pointed boulders. "If I could just get it to stay still..."

The dragon came crashing down in an attempt to rid itself of the new parasite on its back but the moment it felt her jumping away it started its ascent...but the pest on the back had been replaced by another one. The moment Muryuu saw the dragon fly down with Ninoya, he figured that one of two things could happen, either it would crash against the rocks bellow or it would pull up at the last second, mostly because it would be what he would have done in the same situation. Luckily the dragon opted for the second option and taking advantage of the free spot on it's back Muryuu quickly jumped in and grabbed a hold of one of the dragon's horns.
The red beast rose up higher than before, releasing an infuriated roar as it noticed that the second flea was as annoying as the other one, but Muryuu didn't let go, instead he grabbed a tight hold of both of the dragon's horns, planting his foot between them over the top of the dragon's head.

"Hey ugly! That hit hurt!"

Muryuu's shout was immediately accompanied by a strong headbutt, using a black scales covered forehead, against the dragon's head, making the giant winged lizard reach for it's head and lose the concentration needed to keep itself from falling for a second. Muryuu raised his head after the hit, revealing a stream of blood coming from his head but also a fang filled grin as in a way, the hit was kind of satisfying. With a powerful jerk of its head back the dragon finally managed to make Muryuu let go of the horns and fly back and for a moment it looked like he was going to be given to the unmerciful power of gravity, but that didn't quite happen.

"Nope!"

He simply exclaimed, pulling back his arm as the black scales that surrounded it were already shifting around and by the time he swung the arm toward the dragon, a rather crude and rushed made chain shot down and wrapped around the dragon's long neck. The monster released a roar yet again and flames started to gather in it's mouth but before any attack was released Muryuu pulled on the chains hard, sending his body toward the dragon as the skin on his right leg shifted to black scales and hardened just in time to deliver a tremendous kick to the dragon's back.

A sound of pain left the dragon as it came crashing down toward the rock hard floor of its nest. Muryuu's chain had been made in a rush and as the dragon shot down it tugged him down, increasing his own falling speed but broke from the tension. The large beast crashed against the ground, creating a crater under it and lifting up a large cloud of dust while Muryuu's landing was equally as graceful, the trajectory sending him against a large boulder before he finally hit the ground, cracking both surfaces he hit and causing significant damage as well.

Eyes bouncing from the ground and to the dragon, Ninoya saw that Muryuu was giving the whole dragon riding thing a try. He would quickly find it was not as glorious as he might have first hoped. Ninoya wanted nothing more than to kill that beast mid-flight.

"Idiot!" She hissed, standing up from her kneeling position. Twitching, Ninoya stumbled forward as she attempted to move. "Tch!" Green eyes on her knee, she felt a throbbing pain. All she could do for now was ignore it.

Head tilted up, Ninoya watched in anticpation. She not about to join him in the skies, nor was she going to attack from a distance. While she trusted her aim, and her lightning was quick, if she severely injured Muryuu she would never forgive himself. Funny, months prior she wanted nothing but the young man's head on a pike.

Watching from below, Muryuu had sent the dragon hurtling to the ground below, himself losing control and it was clear he would be unable to stick the landing. "Muryuu!!" Again... idiot! The black scales still covering part of his body, and given the powerful hit he already received, she had faith that he would be all right. Besides, this looked like it would be it.

Hand seals flying, Ninoya was able to finish them upon the dragon's crash landing. Lightning coursed through her body once again, stronger than before. Not only would it make her Lightning Quick, but Thunder Struck. She was going for the kill.

In a flash that left behind sparks of electricity, Ninoya sped through the kicked up dirt and dust of the dragon's landing and onto the beast's back. Grabbing the lightning spear that protruded from its shoulder as the winged devil began to move, Ninoya tightened her grip and clenched her teeth. Her memory reeled back to dragons, all the dragons she had seen, and the ones that have caused her much suffering in her life. She had to get angry.

The spear turning crimson, the archer pulled the spear from its holding place as she pumped raiton chakra into the red, sparking, weapon. Leaping forward toward its head, Ninoya pulled back her arms. "Raah!" Lightning chakra making her limbs swifter and strong, Ninoya drove the focused spear full force into the dragon's cranium. Her foot came next, slamming next to the spear. The beast's head hit the ground, its wings flapping in a last ditch effort. To top it off, the weapon vanished, reverting back to raiton chakra that now released through the dragon's body.

The dragonslayer looked upon her victim, head turning slowly as her eyes scanned the beast for movement. She had done the deed. This was the beginning of the end. She knew that she could kill them.

Spoiler:

Name: Thunder Struck
Rank: B
Range: Close (0m ~ 5m)
Jutsu Type: Ninjutsu
Elemental Affinity: Advanced Lightning [Raiton]
Clan: --

Description: After performing a string of hand seals, Ninoya will pump raiton chakra through certain parts of her body-- only able to perform the technique to fuel one "limb" at a time. With this boost, aided by the raiton chakra, Ninoya is able to perform much stronger physical attacks. Whether it be a heavy punch, or an incredible powerful drop kick. Due to the dense and more physical nature of Ninoya's advanced lightning... this is what makes the technique possible. The affects last only a few turns... less so if Ninoya is constantly using its affects.

By the time Muryuu got back to his feet the dust that had flown up when the dragon crashed had already started to settle. Considering his natural armor and naturally tough constitution the crash, that would have killed a normal human, did not cause as much damage as it seemed however the problem was in that when Muryuu collided with the boulder first he also managed to hit his head and while no external damage was visible, the damage to his brain was still enough to rock the world before his eyes. Normally he'd be up in the second after a hit like that but the damage to his head made it so that his rise took a little longer, allowing him to get back to an upright position only as the dust revealed the figure of Ninoya standing next to the dragon as it displayed a rather large and nice hole in its head.

"Of course she would take the kill for herself."

He mumbled as he made his way to her, using his shirt to wipe away the blood still all over his face while his the cracks in his "armor" were covered in scales which turned back to normal human skin which was no different than that of any other human being. It wasn't like they were the perfect tag team in the world, their teamwork was actually pretty horrible as both of them attacked the dragon with plans of their own, luckily they were skilled enough to take advantage of each other's failures and successes, this in itself was a major feat. Muryuu was still unsure whether the partnership was necessary or not as Ninoya seemed to have handled the dragon quite well and he knew that if he had gone at the beast with his full power and abilities that he'd likely take the beast out single-handedly but then again, the dragon WAS facing two strong opponents with two opposite fighting styles so it was hard to judge how much each of them could have actually done by themselves.

As Muryuu reached Ninoya's side he just couldn't help but notice how little damage she had taken compared to him, thought the damage he had taken was largely internal or hidden from the naked eye, the blood on his body and clothes still told a story about how much he was hit while she looked to be perfectly fine...then again their roles and styles in a fight were completely different since he was more like a fighter on the front lines tanking the damage while she was the archer at the back dealing the high damage. Imagine how scary their pairing could be in battle should they actively work as a team instead of going at it independently.

"So that's done, how doe...is it getting hotter?"

Even after the dragon's death the air around it was much hotter than usual, but something was off...as the air was still getting hotter and at a much quicker rate despite the beast being clearly dead. Muryuu looked toward the dead dragon in time to see it's stomach start to inflate and as it started to reach it's limit other areas of the body like the chest and neck started to inflate as well while flames were visibly escaping the partially closed dragon's mouth.
What was happening was simple, right before Ninoya delivered the killing blow, the dragon was already starting a powerful fire attack of its own but as it was killed right as the attack was ready to be released the flames inside it and the now unstable fire chakra in its body began to go out of control and in that case...it would inevitably lead to a release of all that unstable firepower in one go.

Sensing danger Muryuu acted quickly. He began by rushing close enough to Ninoya to put his hands on her shoulders and turned her so that her back faced the dragon's, positioning the dragonslayer between the ticking time bomb and Muryuu. To anyone watching it would have looked like he was about to use her as a human shield however what he did next would change that perception. His back turned black and two large draconic black wings, not much different to those of the dragon Ninoya had just killed, sprouted out of his back immediately covering both him and her almost like a cocoon right as the dragon finally exploded in a powerful storm of flames that engulfed the area, killing and destroying anything within and around its nest.

The storm lasted a few seconds, eating away at everything, including the air until the flames finally died down around them. Feeling that it was finally all over Muryuu dropped to his knees while the black wings in wrapped around the both of them and dropped to the ground. He immediately took a deep breath as the air had grown thin during the explosion but most of all it looked as if he was in tremendous pain and the reason was quite evident, the outer side of his wings were completely burned and destroyed.

Stepping off the beast, Ninoya wiped the dirt off her clothes. Silently, she pushed the ration chakra through her body and into the ground. Her head shifted and her eyes looked over the dragon. Ashes began to fall off the beast as its excess katon chakra began to burn off. Even in death, their massive amounts of chakra still amazed.

"It's degrading." She looked to Muryuu, his eyes showed something of concern. The archer just attributed it to him not understanding what happened to dragons in death. But, in reality, it was much worse.

"Wha--!" Pulled away, Ninoya was quickly wrapped by Muryuu. Protected by him. Her initial thought was that he was using himself as a shield, those odd scales being an ultimate defense. As the flames died and Ninoya opened her eyes, she saw that it was a much different story.

Pulling away from Muryuu, Ninoya looked at the sorry man's state. More importantly, the black wings and scales that were charred and covered his body. It was more than just scales, they were dragon scales. The connection clicked instantly.

Eyebrows lowering, Ninoya took a step closer to the man rather than away. "Are you... are you a black dragon?" Her fist clenched, mind recognizing that she could kill Muryuu here and now. "That thing that killed those dragons back in that cave... it wasn't you... but it was related to you, wasn't it?" Sucking on her teeth, the red haired girl looked away for a moment, shaking her head as she released her fist. "You're not some sort of a monster because you're part dragon. You're not vicious, you're not killing people. I knew something was up with those scales of yours, why do you think I wanted you to assist me in killing a dragon? I had my suspicions about you." Never that he was a black dragon, though. Supposedly one of the most powerful creatures on the planet.

Muryuu did not answer Ninoya immediately, for a few moments he just stayed quiet while looking at the floor. He did not know why but for a while he felt a great sense of relief even amidst the pain from his damaged wings, a relief that came from the simple fact that Ninoya, a woman that seemed so hellbent on killing dragons, didn't seem to hold the same need to kill him as she did for other dragons...at least not for now.

He released a sigh and then clenched his fangs and fists, the wings that rested on the floor twitched and began shrinking in side as if returning back to his body, the whole process seemed extremely painful due to the damage they had received being transferred into another part of the body. By the time his they vanished and the black scales turned to skin, a large portion of Muryuu's back was heavily burned which was visible through the whole in the shirt that the wings had created. He finally relaxed his hands and jaw and looked up at Ninoya while trying to get back up to his feet.

"Want to know why black dragons are so different from all other dragons? It's because we are born human."

Regardless of how intelligent and wise some dragons could be, they were still beasts that embraced they primal side from birth but the Kirinketsu, the black dragons, were born human and raised as such though that feral side still remained which through the years twists their minds. Many believe humans to be some of the most vicious and violent creatures alive, but imagine someone like that with not just the power of a wild predator but also the mentality of one. This was the reason why he and everyone like him actively sought conflict, why their blood boiled when in the presence of violence, because they are unstable.

"Are you sure I'm not a monster? I'm still young..."

Muryuu suddenly opened his arms and grinned, showing all his fangs.

"I'm not really an adult yet, not much different than the dragon you just killed. You have no idea of the amount of self control I need to not give in to that side you hate so much and it only gets harder as I get older."

His back was starting to hurt really badly but the pain was almost completely ignored as he dropped his arms and the grin vanished.

"People like me get to a point where they have to make a choice and often that choice isn't even a choice anymore. Who knows, in a year or two I might be me or I might be like that 'thing', as you put it."

He loved and hated what he was. On one hand he had incredible power and potential, Ninoya had yet to witness what he was truly capable of and even he was unsure of his own limits as he never had the need to go all out, it felt incredibly good to be strong and he felt a certain and strange sense of pride in being at the top of the food chain. But on the other hand it wasn't a free gift from the gods, those that say that great power comes with great responsibility never witnessed his case as failed to notice the great mental instability of being born two things but neither, thinking one way but pushing for another on instinct.

His sister was blessed, she wasn't a "pure blood" so to speak so the dragon side of her was so weak that all it did was make her a bit more aggressive and give her a shorter fuse. His brother on the other hand found a way to overcome it...by embracing it, his human side was always more vicious and destructive anyway. His father did what nobody else could, he neither embrace it nor denied it but took full control over it, he never let the primal side take over but didn't lock it away either, he took the reigns and used it as he wished without any drawbacks and that was exactly what made him so dangerous...because he was never a good man either.

"I'm making a fool of myself..."

His shoulders suddenly relaxed as he suddenly sounded a bit defeated and brought a hand up to his face, placing his thumb and index on either side of the bridge of his nose.

"We shouldn't stay here, the fight and that explosion is bound to attract a lot of attention we don't want to have."
