Operation Atropine

[ \Sakura Hiroba | Kamiza | Yomi/ ]
The capital city of Raikou no Kuni, nestled between mountain peaks in the center of the country. Its altitude and location lead to common snowfall, though it is not necessarily cold throughout the year, clear days often leading to be as warm as summer. At the southern end of this star-shaped city lies a great stone bridge spanning a large lake, connecting to the road back down to the rest of the world. The home of both the Daimyo and Kamiza, the Onigami Compounds.

Otoha listened to the exchanges between Omoi and Sarin, offhandedly keeping track of her mission progress while maintaining the rain. With his clone's return, he slowly stood, letting the storm he had gathered slowly die. Breathing evenly, the chuunin raised his left hand towards the cloud above, while pointing his right towards the facility where Omoi was working. For the moment, he simply released a flow of chakra towards the sky above; an anchor, if the term could be used. For the moment, it served no purpose save for preparation. The moment his ally was in the clear, though... the anchor would quite ironically "sink" the enemy base.

Riku went silent as her signature disappeared again, presumably underground. He watched Rouge prepare whatever death trap he had in mind for those poor folks, and he took that as his cue. He stretched, preparing for the rush toward the enemy compound to clean up whatever was left behind after the slaughter.

The rain had stopped, a small fact that Riku could be grateful in the midst of the coming bloodshed, but whatever it was Rouge was about to bring down on them, he could not feel good about, no matter how hard he tried. He didn't let it show though. They'd had the discussion already, he was going to go along with it.

Ah, how easy life would be if she could just disintegrate things... pity she hadn't figured out how to do that yet.

Endless patterns, round and round, straight here, straight there, and finally Wiltshire was ready to check her handiwork, carefully phasing herself into the metal of the tanks and adjusting so that she could see....

Tiny lines etched all over the paper left not one seal in her view intact.

She phased down into the ground again, coming up in a new tank; so far, so good.

She repeated the process as many times as there were tanks before finally phasing back into the ground and slipping away, apparently unnoticed.

The plan was going surprisingly smoothly. Hope that's a good sign....

It took mere seconds for Omoi to reach the forest once again, and she rose up carefully into a bush, blending in with the shadows of the undergrowth as she murmured softly into the com-link, "You're up, Rouge. I'm clear."

"You're up, Rouge. I'm clear."

Otoha nodded to himself, slowly, before speaking. Despite leaving the comm channel up, his words weren't directed towards his team members, but rather those in the buildings below; those who couldn't hear, but who still called for the formality.

"And may the gods show mercy when you pass... because I sure as hell can't afford to do so in this life. Amatsu Seiryoku: Hiraishin Kaisou."

Making use of the 'anchor' he had set in the sky above, the chuunin used a strong surge of raiton chakra to tear lightning from the sky above, essentially using his raised arm as a lightning rod. Grunting with pain as the energy flowed from one arm to the other, he took aim on the complex below. After a moment, the last of the lightning had flowed down the first arm, and could be seen visibly sparking about in his torso, prepping for release. With a pained grimace, Otoha released all of the captured energy, sending a blazing lance of lightning in a direct path away from his free arm. After a few short moments during which the energy tore through anything in its path, it struck the facility with unimaginable force, resulting in a devastating explosion.

"Goddamn, that hurts... Sarin, Wiltshire, cleared to engage."
Spoiler:
Name: Hiraishin Kaisou [Lightning Rod Reflection]
Rank: A
Range: Medium - Far [5m - 10m+]
Jutsu Type: Ninjutsu
Elemental Affinity: Raiton
Clan: N/A

Description: The second technique within the Amatsu Seiryoku style, Hiraishin Kaisou, or ]Lightning Rod Reflection is easily more powerful than the prior technique, and as one would expect, is much more dangerous. Using their body as a beacon of Raiton chakra, the user quite literally pushes their chakra skyward with an outstretched hand, almost ripping lightning from the skies above, before channeling it through their own body, and out their other hand. On descent, the lightning keeps its traditional speed, flashing almost instantly from sky to palm; upon firing from the user's other hand however, it moves much slower; although still flowing at what would be considered a very high speed for a land-based force, even if a pale comparison to the original. As expected, this technique packs quite the punch, easily surpassing Ryouun Raikou Yari. Understandably, this ability carries a great backlash, with all of the force surging through their body; at chuunin ranking, the user can fire off five shots, with a limit of one per post; the fifth shot quite literally burns the user's life force away as fuel to ensure that the attack makes it through without killing the user on contact; ironically, without immediate medical attention, the fifth shot's repercussions would kill the user's anyway.

Riku watched, awestruck at the unspeakable devastation this one shinobi could perform. In Kumo, seeing Raiton techniques was pretty common, but seeing someone use real lightning. Well, that wasn't. Staring at the burnt out wake of the lightning bolt, it took Sarin a moment to process the last command. Cleared to engage? What did that mean exactly? He stood in a stupor for a moment, trying to process out what the heck he was supposed to be doing. Engage. He was supposed to be fighting.

"Impressive Technique." Vanishing into the woods, leaving Rouge to recover from the obvious side effects of channeling a lightning bolt through his chest. It would take Riku a minute to reach the remains of the compound, and by then, he expected to see utter chaos. The gas filter was operational on his mask, and with a light tug, Riku freed the chain. He'd use it first.

"Wiltshire, what's the aftermath look like?" By ones and twos, the Kikaichuu came buzzing back to him, meaning their hosts were dead, or there was no more chakra to feed on. Some lives were lost. How many, he had lost count.

She'd picked a bit of a bad location, though she received an excellent show....

That lightning bolt had whizzed by just a few meters from her location, leaving her with a tingling sensation and a great deal of static shock, but otherwise unharmed.

The target, meanwhile.... The explosion had sent a concussive wave out, and a fire roared in the remains, the poisonous gas already spreading from its ruptured containers....

"Wiltshire, what's the aftermath look like?"

Taking a moment to overcome the general mental pause the whole incident had given her, Wiltshire replied quickly. "The gas has been released in the compound, as expected, and the remains of the buildings are on fire.... Rouge, either way, we need that rain soon." She had no idea just how Otoha-kun had performed the destructive technique, and so she was moving along as usual.

Either way, she was heading into the combat zone, and, from what she could see from the highlights in her lenses, there were only about six or seven who remained alive after the blast....

Wiltshire left her cover and darted into the fires, instinct and reflex slamming her knee upwards into the jaw of a kunai-bearing survivor with such force that the man's neck broke as his head snapped back....

Whoops, she'd told Riku-san she'd try to capture some alive....

Oh well. Her body had acted on its own.

And deeper into the blazing ruins she ran.

"Goddamn, that was... effective. Starting the clean-up."

Gratefully lowering himself into a sitting position to rest and recover from the bolt he had fired, Otoha focused once more, repeating the technique used prior. Seeing no need to keep up the illusion of a natural shower this time, the chuunin gathered the clouds above the compound, and the released gasses, before releasing a torrent of rain over the area. With the concentrated cloud formation, the rain practically fell in sheets, washing away the gas as quickly as he could manage.

Riku was on the scene moments later, moving into action at full speed. The first man he met went down under a flood of insects, sapping him dry as Riku moved on. The mask protected him from the gas, but his skin wouldn't be protected from these men's knives. As a blade from number 2 slipped past his ear, Riku stepped forward, grabbing the man's extended wrist with his left hand and snapping his right forearm up into the elbow, snapping it back and eliciting a howl from the man. The scream was cut short however by Riku's right hand balling up and snapping forward into the man's throat, dropping him gagging onto the ground. He wasn't dead, but he was out of the fight at least for now. That was two down, plus one from Omoi's attack, leaving... Four, five?

Picking up on a chakra signature to his right, one of the Kikaichuu still attached, Riku spotted a man running for the woods. Pulling out a kunai he prepared to launch it. And then hesitated. Sighing, he took off after the other man, legs pounding the dirt to gain lost ground. No murder, not when it wasn't needed. He would catch the man and disable him, not kill him.

OOC: *facepalms* Sorry for the wait, guys. Must be losing my touch. ><'

IC: A few minutes, and the gas had disappated.

The fire was dying down, but it was relatively contained at this point.

"The gas is gone, and the fire's beginning to die down. It looks like it won't spread to the forest at this point."

A quick report to let Rouge know how it was going on her end. She'd let him to decide whether to go ahead and stop or not.

A quick spin and her leg thudded hard against the side of a man who had tried to sneak up on her from behind. A slash of her kunai and he was dead.

This was the fourth man she'd taken out now. Depending on how many Sarin had taken out, there were probably anywhere from four more to one more.... Unfortunately, she couldn't sense where her friend's kikaichuu were attached or how many were still attached to an enemy.

"Sarin, I've taken down four. How many are left?"

"Alright... you two can finish the clean-up, right?"

His use of the phrase "clean-up" was carefully chosen; the words referred not towards the toxins, but towards the enemies themselves. Drained as he was from the quick chain of techniques, Otoha doubted that he would be able to rejoin the fray without some significant effort. Beyond that, however, there was the matter of the lives of the terrorists; if he got involved, anyone he came across would be executed, quickly and thoroughly. His allies, however, seemed to be less accepting of "needless" killing. By holding back to recuperate, he was offering them the chance to resolve the situation in their own way, taking as many prisoners as they wanted.

Granted, the lives of everyone they saved would no doubt be ended through either torture or proper execution nonetheless, but... they didn't necessarily need to know that. Better to believe that they were saving the lives of both sides involved, rather than dooming one to a slow, painful end.

"I count two. I've got one, the other is fleeing north-northeast. You can catch him before the forest if you move quickly." Riku ducked a sword, sloppily slung through the wind. The kikaichuu swirled about his body surrounding him like a vortex of protection. They clung to his opponent by one's and two's, and Riku could see the energy draining from him as he struggled to fight his own fatigue. Finally, the moment was right. The man spun, building momentum for a swipe of his blade. Riku went low, jutting a leg into the man's pathetic footwork, causing him to tumble to the ground quite ungracefully. Riku was atop him, slamming a fist down into the skull, silencing him immediately.

"Well that's mine, I'll start binding the captives." And out came the wire, deftly wrapping it about their bodies, securing them tightly so none would escape. Riku was kindhearted, true, but methodical also. He knew his work. Pointless though it may have been, he followed through.

"Alright... you two can finish the clean-up, right?"

"Yeah."

"I count two. I've got one, the other is fleeing north-northeast. You can catch him before the forest if you move quickly."

"I'm on it."

And now she was running at top speed, dodging around and leaping over rubble to conserve chakra just in case this last one ended up being a threat....

"Well that's mine, I'll start binding the captives."

Yeah, the captives, all... two of them. The four she'd gotten had practically been killed on the spot, despite what she'd said to Riku-san.... The BOLT mindset and her instincts had taken over during those brief bouts. Ah, well. Less people to drag back to Kumo, at least.

As long as the guy she was chasing after ended up being just a grunt, she'd make a conscious effort to try not to kill him. If not, well.... Who knew.

A jump to the top of a high wall still standing in the rubble gave her a relatively clear view of her new prey as he fled, and the human-formed dragoness pushed off hard from the wall to fling herself after him, the wall crumbling from the force.

Tall man, dark-haired, tan-ish complexion from what she could see of his skin, probably somewhere in his thirties, garbed in an odd green and brown pattern of multiple shades reminiscent of the gray one Sebokik-sempai had used during her and Riku-san's entrance exam into BOLT.... Athletic, powerful build.

Some sort of fighter, then? She couldn't tell if he was a ninja or not, unfortunately....

Either way, she was gaining as her feet touched the ground and she ran after him, a huntress chasing down her prey.

Five shuriken slipped from her hands, sailing through the air towards his back--

He took them, fell.

Wiltshire approached, pounced, her grip and force about to crush his wrists and ankles--

BZZT

Omoi fell with a mix of a howl of pain and a roar of fury, muscles spasming from the electricity that surged through her nervous system, sapphire eyes managing to lock on to her enemy as he stood with a smirk, looking down at her with yellow eyes and plucking the shuriken from his cloak, revealing a glimpse of solid metal....

Armor. Metal armor. Really? This is what she got for trying to keep an enemy alive and not just phasing past all his defenses and taking him out then and there.

She got ELECTRICITY surging through her BODY.

Needless to say, she was absolutely pissed.

Now if only her body would behave and let her maul this idiot.

Meanwhile, her growl was coming out in a broken staccato, even her diaphram not behaving properly....

"Hmph. So, this is all your village's elite has to offer? A little girl who doesn't even know how to go for the kill? Annoying, though, that you managed to destroy the seals and release the gas.... What about your other two companions, hm? Think they'll get here before I kill you?"

That smirk of his was pissing her off....

Forcing her hand to work, she shakily, and noticeably jerkily, touched the comlink. "B-bac-ck u-p n-n-ow-w. R-r-rai-t-to-n u-u-s-er-r. M-m-met-t-t-al ar-ar-m-m-or-r."

...she couldn't even talk right.

The man just laughed.

"B-bac-ck u-p n-n-ow-w. R-r-rai-t-to-n u-u-s-er-r. M-m-met-t-t-al ar-ar-m-m-or-r."

Metal armor? It seemed that one of them had been prepared for a fight, then... Growling softly, Otoha climbed to his feet, already looking around, trying to find his ally. Once more tapping into his bloodline and coating his body in the black markings that boosted his physical abilities, he took off at a quick run, breathing heavily before he even cleared the tree-line to enter the area where the fighting was taking place. For a moment he was distracted by the ruined look of the place; the destruction from his attacks were much more devastating to look at up close.

Reaching a hand up toward his mask, the chuunin keyed open a com-line to Omoi, grateful that their gear at least canceled the noise of their communications so that no one unwanted could overhear.

"Keep your head down, Omoi..."

Extending his left arm to its full length, he took a profile stance, while slowly drawing his hands apart, as if pulling back an arrow from a great bow. The air between his hands began to quickly swirl, forming a conical projectile with a razor fine tip. Exhaling slowly, he released his hold on the back of the 'arrow', sending the focused burst of wind plowing through the air, over Omoi, and into the man's electrified armor. While it didn't penetrate deeply, it had enough power to knock the thug on his ass long enough for Otoha to approach and slap an IR-Seal on his head. Grinning slightly beneath his mask, he extended a hand towards the dragon to help her up.

The words over the intercom spurred Riku into action. Dashing across the turf, tearing up huge chunks of gravel and rubble as his legs pounded the ground. Leaping over a low wall, the handsigns came to his hands with a sense of impending doom. Jutsu completed, he was in range, and four enormous spears formed out of the earth in front of him, flying into the air just as the man was inexplicably blasted backwards. The arc of Riku's attack hit him with only a glancing blow, blood spattering the ground from a fresh wound to the shoulder just below where the arm met the torso. It was only then that Riku spotted Otoha in action, placing the restrainment seal and helping Omoi.

"I've got the other... survivors, tied up over there. Are you alright Omoi-chan?" Breath was coming in and out of him in great heaves. That jutsu was about all he had. Ninjutsu were always difficult for him, and with all the physical activity, Riku's chakra reserves were somewhat depleted. Walking over, Riku stooped and none too gently hauled the armored man to his feet, delivering a few unnecessary and not all that well hidden blows from his knees and elbows while helping the attacker up.

He just stood there.

Why?

Why hadn't he attacked her again yet?

"Keep your head down, Omoi..."

And in short order the enemy was knocked down by what Omoi could only guess was some sort of Fuuton-based projectile, spears of earth rising up and knicking him just enough to send a splatter of blood on the ground as he fell, Otoha-kun slapping an IR-Seal onto the man's forehead a moment after the enemy had hit the ground.

A faintly spasming arm reached up and grabbed hold of Otoha-kun's hand, letting him help her up, her gaze resting on the now-harmless threat in puzzlement.... Something just didn't feel right.

"I've got the other... survivors, tied up over there. Are you alright Omoi-chan?"

"Yeah...."

Why hadn't he done her more harm when he'd had the chance?

Omoi frowned and put a hand on the front of her BTM, circulating just enough Souton chakra through the filters to phase them for a moment--

Otoha-kun. Riku-san. Blood. Earth. Faint stench of what she assumed to be the enemy.

Wait, faint?

"GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Sapphire eyes flashed beneath the lenses, running forward in an attempt to throw the enemy away before something happened--

She'd realized it too late.

The human figure that she'd assumed to be the enemy shone with light before it exploded with furious force.

All she could do was grab Riku-san and phase away deep into the ground, hoping that Otoha-kun would be okay: he hadn't been close enough for her to grab him, too.

When the smoke cleared, a crater about two meters deep and five meters wide was imbedded into the earth.

Omoi rose up several meters away from the crater, releasing Riku-san and beginning to search out the enemy, continually sending Souton chakra through the filters of her mask now to try to search out the man's scent, only stopping the chakra circulation for a moment to speak into the COM-link: "Rouge, come in. You alright?"

So, the enemy had Raiton, and now was likely to have Baton [Explosion]. If he did have Baton, that would mean he had Doton as well....

Definately a shinobi.

And definately not a grunt, more likely to be at least jounin in rank and quite possibly the leader of this little area for AWWNB.
